“I've been to Yu Seafood Yorkdale several times. An upscaled restaurant near all the high-end retailers. I bought my nephew here during his business trip and everything is good, and the bill was paid without going through the details. Not until I got home and found out one of the dishes was missed out from the dinner set for six. I called the restaurant the next day and the general manager Neilson responded promptly. It could be a human error and promised to compensate on my next visit. Having said that Yu is a great place to enjoy dinner or lunch despite of the mistake they have made on my last visit.“

“I visited Café Landwer in Forest Hill and while the food was good, the overall experience was affected by how busy it was. The service felt quite slow, not because of the servers themselves, who were polite and did their best, but more due to how the whole system seemed overwhelmed. It’s clearly a popular spot, and the food quality shows why, but be prepared for longer waits if you go during busy times.“

“I visited here mid January for a late night cap with a couple of friends after a birthday celebration. A group of 11 arrived maybe around 12 AM and we were able to get seated instantly. Waitress was really nice and served us within a couple minutes, we didn’t order much food just truffle fries, some wings and maybe one or two margaritas. The waitress was still very nice as we were able to get a free birthday dessert for my friend.

We also played the game with the ball which required you to score 150 to win the bottle of tequila. We scored 170 I believe, but the game did not recognize it and we weren’t able to score the free bottle. Nonetheless great experience, bartender was really nice.

The original burger did not disappoint however we made the mistake of ordering doubles and they were a little too substantial to finish so next time it will be singles. Onion rings stellar and cheesy fries pretty good too. Banana desert was a not bad but I think next time the lemon tart looks like a less rich and sweet option which might be a bit more doable after a single burger. Location is good proximity to Bud stage and Coca Cola coliseum.“

“The food here was amazing! I went with my mom and although we did have to wait 30 mins past our reservation time, the food definitely made up for it! We ended up ordering 4 appetizers and one salad and everything was absolutely delicious. It was seasoned perfectly, held some heat to it and definitely lived up to the hype. I wasn’t expecting the cookie to be soft and not too sweet (big compliment to the baker). It was actually a Dubai chocolate style cookie with pistachio cream and knaffeh, with a layer of dark chocolate on top.“

“solid 3.5 stars on the food, but i feel like I may update this after trying them again.

The Old York Tavern feels like an old-man bar with a facelift (which i love) cozy, warm inviting atmosphere, good character. It’s definitely on the smaller side, so tables are very close together, but it kind of adds to the character.

My friend and I caught the tail end of happy hour and the drink + oyster deal is a great value. That said, the oysters were shucked pretty poorly (lots of shell bits), which was a bit of a letdown.

Food-wise, my first experience was a mixed bag but mostly positive.

Mortadella sandwich: Amazing flavour, but I did end up pulling a couple long stringy rinds out of my mouth, which kind of turned me off, but the sandwich itself was great

Chicken liver mousse: I’m not a mousse person, so take this with a grain of salt. The flavour was fine, just not my thing texture-wise.

Stracciatella & flatbread: Hands down the star of the meal. The flatbread was unreal, perfect texture and flavour and the stracciatella with roasted grapes was such a good combo.

Salt & pepper calamari: Good, solid, nothing groundbreaking.

Overall, the meal was good, service was excellent and the vibe is great. I’d definitely go back to try more dishes“

Definitely going to be a regular local spot. Jason behind the counter was charming and worked on getting the coffee just right - they’ve been open less than a week! “Popped in before a picnic and I’m glad I did! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an array of pastries at a cafe before nor had equally good coffee to match!

I ended up getting an iced latte and a Nanaimo bar. The latte was smooth and not bitter at all. The Nanaimo bar was very rich and sweet, so if you’re looking for something less sweet this may not be for you.

The line moved quickly and service was great. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but with the park across the street not many seats were occupied.“
