“We saw the Halal sign but couldn't verify independently. While we were thinking of going elsewhere at that late night hour, we asked a few questions, and the staff wnsured us hard that they only buy halal, so we sat down. The food was good. Soups, satay, roll, dragon chicken, fried rice, and Tsao chicken. Fish was good, too, but little more oily. Pad Thai was not bad, little dry, though. The server Kavita was nice, I think we tipped a little less than what we should have, by mistake. Of course. Overall experience was good“

Even with takeout, the experience was enhanced by the friendly and professional service from the gentleman who assisted me. My only suggestion would be for the mashed potatoes to have a creamier, more indulgent consistency to better complement the rest of the dish.“

“The best Chinese food in Durham by far.Their food is delicious (black pepper chicken is now my new favourite) and they really fill the containers! The prices are great for the amount and quality of food you get. Most importantly the staff have always been amazing. I’ve been ordering for over 5 years and they go above and beyond to make their customers happy (they include lots of pepper every time that I ask, they’ve rushed to make an order right after opening so I could get it to deliver it for lunch, their delivery times are always a few minutes early, etc.) this definitely is a local small business whose deserves five stars and support! “…i used to work for an industrious hardworking fellow named Angelo @ the blue sea on Brock st in Whitby.. so I can be a little fussy on my halibut ?‍♀️ Angelo used to hand cut his fillets & his batter was the very lightest I have ever had…I was REALLY happy about my fish at the Halibut House !! The batter was slightly heavier but I still really liked it !! The halibut was so fresh moist and the texture as it should be..!!The slaw is really quite spot on !!I want to return to try other things ?I loved the server - I read the reviews - haha - what did you do ?‍♀️My server was perfect - but then again - I always treat my servers with respect ?Rock on Halibut House..!! ??

“Came here with my husband for dinner last Friday night. We were greeted by friendly staff and offered complimentary water. We ordered the halibut and chips and also the haddock and chips. Both portions were quite large and I had leftovers for the next day.
The batter is very nice and crispy and the fish fills the batter without any gaps or wet doughy spots when you cut into it. The ratio of batter and fish is perfect I find.
The chips are thick and very tasty as well.
Overall this is a wonderful family run restaurant with great service and food.
Will definitely be back!“

“This place is a hidden gem. I have been coming here almost daily for breakfast since the place opened. The food is great. The prices are reasonable and the staff are next level. I know them all personally because I am a regular. They make me feel like right at home everyday. Even though I am a breakfast regular I still enjoy the odd lunch and dinner of fish and chips. Never had a bad meal. The fish and chip are great.
If I had to be critical... a couple of minor things I would improve on is the coffee, and condiments. The coffee is ok but I have had better. I would use high-quality brand name condiments if I managed the place. Other than that, it's a great place to eat. It has been interesting watching the place get busier over the years. Especially for breakfast. People are finally noticing it as a place for breakfast. It's hard to find my regular table empty. Give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised.“

“I think that the mistake was not getting more of the Malaysian food. The Currys were actually really really good. But the pad Thai was only OK. There was nothing wrong with it. It was just not as Tammer and heavy as I would like and it had a very red color. I’d go back and try the roti.“

The restaurant does deliver some great authentic Chinese foods and attentive servicesThe sweet and sour pork, wonton soup, water-boiled beef are all very good! The peking duck is particularly crispy and tasty!!Overall, this is a good found in Pickering.
