After walking in a narrow restaurant, we stepped into the most magical oasis in the back. As an influencer, I’m always chasing great food and vibes, and this spot nailed both.
Chef Deso personally presented each dish at the table, starting with their incredible bone marrow where are the Chef blow? Torch touch.

I asked Chef Deso to create something special for me, and he delivered a perfectly cooked steak paired with one of the most creamy, dreamy gnocchi I’ve had in Toronto. My date couldn’t stop raving about the Tuna and grilled octopus too.
What really stood out is that Chef runs the back of the house basically solo and with his wife, pouring so much heart into every plate and glass.
We did their dining menu special and honestly, for the quality and generosity, the price is ridiculously reasonable. I literally thought the price was per person, but it was per couple and I suggest this place to anyone that wants to take a date out for great food and beverages that’s affordable.
It felt like a true privilege to eat there.

In addition to restructuring their business to remain somewhat open but safe for themselves and their patrons, they’ve been a voice above the racial hate and injustice the world has been forced to finally confront. When things got too bad, both Becky and Ryan have been around to help ease the anxiety and despair to not only those in Toronto, but all the way down in the southwest USA (virtually of course). Even if they themselves are going through the same if not worse hell that we’re in. “neighbourhood gem! very family-friendly atmosphere with a thoughtful team. the menu is refreshingly concise and i loved how calm and composed the kitchen feels. the space is casual and clearly considered (unfussy but you can tell there’s care behind what they’re putting out).

we ordered the fish and veg, cheeseburger, caesar salad and two desserts.

the corn salad was exquisite and the trout was nicely done, though the skin was a touch underwhelming — not sure what happened there, maybe it was left a little too long before being served, as the skin had lost its crispness by the time it reached the table. the squeeze of lemon was definitely welcome, though; that little touch of acidity really helped.

the cheeseburger was simple but done right as was the caesar salad. can’t ask for anything more, really.

the desserts were probably the only miss for me. the mango soft serve didn’t quite hit the spot, while the raspberry compote hit the back of the palate strikingly too acidic. same with the strawberry coulis on the no-bake cheesecake. the actual cheesecake was good, but nothing grand.

service was wonderful. everyone was attentive without hovering, and lindsey was genuinely the sweetest server ever. it also seemed like the rest of the team had a great handle on their tables. everyone seemed happy, even while stranded in the middle of a thunderstorm!

overall, still five stars despite the desserts not quite hitting the mark. i’d love to see a really good drip coffee on the menu, too — would’ve been a nice way to end the meal.

“Learned about this place from Too Good To Go app and decided to come here for lunch with a friend. It is a little hard to spot since it is hidden in a small street. We heard this place just open a month ago, so might explain why the place wasn't too busy. Good for us, since we could sit by the cozy lounge area. I got the Avocado Toast, and my friend the Mediterranean Cauliflower. The Toast was super balanced and beautiful (and so much avocado!). The Cauliflower had a lot of components and was very filling. We both agreed the food was 10/10. if you coming for Cocktail, would recommend the Amethyst and the Carribean Sour!“

Opening hours are 11.30am to late each evening. Drinks were all just fine. We were very happy with the food servings which were presentable and honestly all very good. Edamame, broccolini, kale salad, pork belly and burger were all good. Service friendly and timely, prices quite good during the happy hour period. “Me and my husband found this bar looking for speakeasy’s in Toronto. Whilst the drinks were good and the staff great, we were quite disappointed by the term “speakeasy”. We were very excited when the confirmation email for our booking said that we were supposed to go into a yoghurt shop and order for number 8, because this felt very much like speakeasy’s we’ve been to before. However, when we got there, the lady simply asked us if we wanted to get into the bar. The music was also very loud and it felt a bit overcrowded which made it feel more like any popular bar than a hidden speakeasy.
