“First time dining here, and I was thoroughly impressed. We visited on a Saturday evening, and the Prime Rib special was available. I ordered the 12-ounce Prime Rib cooked medium rare, and it was outstanding—juicy, tender, and full of flavor.

The mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious, and the asparagus was fresh and cooked perfectly. Everything we ordered was excellent.

The service was just as impressive as the food. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal.

“I've always had decent food here at Bannings. This morning I ordered Pumpkin pancakes.....what a disappointment. The pumpkin batter needed salt added to it and it also could have used a bit more sugar in the batter. The syrup was not real maple syrup but table top ad says, "warm maple syrup," so I expected real maple syrup. It also says, "whipped butter." I asked the waiter about the maple syrup and he told me it was "artificial" maple and argued the fact that the restaurant never said "real" maple syrup. Maybe the butter is whipped margarine...who knows what liberties are taken in menu descriptions. I'm a "real" maple syrup customer.“

“From Silverton, Oregon and I went hunting in eastern Oregon and I harvested an amazing black bear I looked around for a butcher and nobody was taking any wild game. I called the meeting place and they said they were in drop offs were from from 10 AM to 2 o’clock p.m. I was instantly met with an amazing staff that was knowledgeable, kind and very friendly. I ended up meeting a manager that ran their wild game department, which I have to say that woman is just absolutely amazing with information. Very knowledgeable answered every question I had honestly I was a little hesitant about going all the way to Portland area for a butcher, but I have to say there is no finer butcher team in Oregon that I honestly can say I would rather use other than the meeting place I will continue to use them for all of my game processing absolutely amazing team great greetings just an absolute nice people to deal with most booster shops are very blunt. Some can say not very friendly straight to the point and bye-bye not this place this place is energetic very friendly, respectful kind very knowledgeable. You will not find a better butcher shop in Oregon from what I have seen and I have seen just about every butcher shop we have in Oregon. These guys are top notch if you’ve never left a butcher shop completely smiling and having a great experience you should take the drive to Hillsborough and try these guys. Absolutely amazing. “Really good food, very friendly staff, and really good managers, I definitely recommend Stanford’s in Tanasbourne , everyone needs to come in and try it if you haven’t yet, I recommend the fried calamari and the chimichurri steak tips, they are really really good, save space for dessert and try the chocolate mousse, and make sure to try out the drinks the way is made is all fresh made juices, so if you are in the area make sure to stop by at Stanford’s in Tanasbourne, you will not be disappointed.“

One of my very favorite locations for several personal reasons but this two story gem located in the heart of rolling hills and dotted forests just off of Hwy 26 will captivate you. They weekly offer live music for free, an upstairs pool table and shuffleboard and dining on a balcony, full bar, indoor rock fireplace and cozy corner window seating, out door dining patio with wood burning fire pits and string lights. It leaned into bitter/charred/salty flavors so heavily, which the tomato-based salsa couldn't counterbalance, that I decided to move on rather than roll the dice twice on some mussels.“

“This is a great place for dining. Menu is not tens of pages long but it has all the essentials as far as fish and meat options go. I also like the great list of beers, wines and cocktails. Service was great and the staff was attentive and friendly. This is one of my favorite places for eating out. Highly recommended!

Revisited with a few guests. Service was great as usual. Salmon and steelhead entrees were really delicious. Brownies, creme brulee and the cheesecake were also amazing. Portions of the desserts are much bigger compared to the entrees. So order with caution ! Spent about $45 per person, which is not too bad given the overall quality.

Revisited today. What I really like about this place is it is one of the very few restaurants that serve great food as late as 22:50. I am a night owl and I often end up looking for dinner past 22:00. Copper River is perfect for me!

Brought friends from Atlanta and they sampled the dessert menu. Got thumbs up all round. The banana split was amazing. Creme Brulee was also top notch! CR did not disappoint as usual. Service was good too though it was a busy Friday night.

I brought my team of 20+ in from work to enjoy the items on the menu for lunch. Everyone was happy as expected.

Great service as usual. Ribeye steak needs to be thicker and cooked less. Desserts were excellent. Had to wait to be seated though I had a reservation and arrived on time. Very crowded on Friday evenings. Parking was challenging.

13 July 2025 - Revisited for dinner. Waited for 15 minutes to be seated. Salmon with orzo rice was good. Mashed potatoes that came with the ribeye was too salty. Honestly, less salt will definitely bring the flavors out more. My classic dessert choice creme brulee did not disappoint. I loved the local Pino Griogio fwom Washington. Very easy to drink a bit in the sweet side like riesling. Service was also great. I am starting to believe Copper River serves the best calamari in all of Portland. It is hard to match, really!

Tried the pot pie today for the first time. I was pretty tasty. Service was great as usual.

Revisited on 21 Sep 2026 - For a change, I sat at the bar with a friend and had a few beers. Service was great as always. They kindly let us stay a bit longer after official closing time. This restaurant never disappoints and is still my favorite place to eat out.“

“My fiancé and I were searching for a tequila tasting forever. While googling, I stumbled across Sandoval’s website and discovered that they hosted tastings. I decided to email, not really expecting much, but then I got a phone call from Danny, the owner, soon after. Getting this personal interaction was the start of one of the best things experiences I have ever had hands down. When we walked into the restaurant, we were met by Izzie and she was so kind. We let her know we were there for a tasting and heard Kathy, owner, acknowledge us. We were invited to sit in the bar or restaurant and we chose the bar. We walked through swinging doors that transported us to an old authentic Mexican bar. Kathy came to greet us and started talking about the history of tequila. She shared her experiences in Guadalajara when she and Danny went to purchase all of their barrels. The interaction was so personable and it instantly took me there and I want to travel with them. Danny came in and he and Kathy joked a little together about their experiences in Mexico. Their authenticity towards each other was infectious. Danny then started with the tasting. Demonstrating how to really taste tequila to take in all that it has to offer. We were so enlightened. We’ve been doing this whole tequila thing wrong. With Danny’s guidance we were able to fully experience tequila and appreciate it. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Hands down the best Mexican food in Portland. “I come to this particular Black Bear every year because it is the one nearest to the hotel nearest to where my dad lives. I go to a Black Bear Diner pretty often, and this one is up to the same high standards as basically all the others I've visited. This visit, however, was not to see my dad but to go to his funeral. It was a really rough day today. I could hardly leave the hotel room. But when I did, and I sat there just reading for a bit over a hamburger, listening to nothing in particular, my waiter was very helpful and attentive despite there seeming to be a lot of people and not enough waiters. He had no way of knowing that today was one of the hardest days in my life. He was kind, attentive, and engaged me in a brief conversation in a natural way without it being forced. I sat for a bit after my meal and had refills for another half hour, until just after closing time. My waiter's name is Ethan. Melissa told me that while she wasn't the manager, I should put a review up online so that my compliment gets back to him. I don't know if I will be back here any time soon. If I am, I will hope to see Ethan, who just did his job and who was genuine.“
