“Omg you just have to go there. After a couple traditional wineries we stumbled into this place. It was a fantastic treat. I recommend making reservations and bringing some friends. You will not be disappointed. You will be welcomed into a super comfortable setting. It’s almost like enjoying a glass of wine at home- if home is trendy, decorated will both class and humor and a friendly knowledge person is there to serve you delicious but unpretentious wine.“
“Decided to stop at this winery to do a tasting happy they are dog friendly and we were able to take both the pups inside. Grounds are lovely and flowers were beautiful. Wine flight was delicious 😋 and happily purchased some to take home. The server was very pleasant and helpful with describing various wines and areas grapes 🍇 were grown.“
“The Venue
From the moment you arrive, the panoramic views of the Willamette Valley take your breath away. Perched high in the Dundee Hills, the tasting room offers a sophisticated, rustic atmosphere that remains warm and inviting. The windows are seemingly endless so the interior is never lacking in views. Nevertheless, there is a very pleasant terrace should you want to be outside.
The Wines
The quality here is undeniable. Knudsen is legendary for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and the tasting flight beautifully showcases their commitment to elegance and terroir. Each pour was balanced, expressive, and truly reflective of the high-elevation site. Jeff did an amazing job explaining the wines and showing us exactly where they came from.
The Ruling
We were impressed by the majority of the wines we sampled. As is always the case - everyone’s palate is different, but if you don’t find something to suit you here, you probably won’t find it anywhere else.“
“Did a tasting here a week or so on a cold and wet Thursday in the off season. I’m in the trade, so it was nice to be able to talk with Ken and to get to know more about the winery so that I can add them to my schedule for clients in 2022 (I’m a Wine Guide & Driver for a Portland based company). They wines here are very nice and reasonably priced and the view is spectacular (and will be even more so next spring & summer). If you are wine tasting in Dundee and want a great experience, make Winderlea a must see & tasting stop!
2026 updated review. Winderlea continues to provide exceptional wines and tasting room experiences. This is a must see & experience wine tasting room if you are visiting the Dundee Hills AVA!“
“Hands down the best wine/vineyard/tasting experience I’ve ever had! Stunning vineyard views and the most gorgeous tasting room. Steve led me on a vineyard walk and was so knowledgeable and passionate about the wines and winemaking in general. Got to taste some truly remarkable wines and left with some bottles I will treasure in my cellar and around the table with friends. The whole team was so welcoming and kind and made it an unforgettable start to my Willamette Valley wine adventure. Thank you Dusky Goose!“
“My wife and I have been passionate about wine for almost two decades, and have traveled the world to taste wine. I have never had a host as great as David was with our party. He is smart, funny, and passionate about his wine. He makes you feel like family and his wine is amazing! Book a tasting, you will be thrilled you did!“
“Elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Stunning view.“
“The facility and vineyards were beautiful. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. He told us about the history of the vineyard and all the nuances that go with growing wine in this region. I guess we are middle of the road wine drinkers and this winery is not the middle of the road winery. High cost, in our opinion, for tasting ($50 per person) and higher cost for their bottles of wine ($40 - $130 per bottle). Most were on the higher end. We lived the vineyard, we loved our host, it was just at a much higher cost for these middle of the road wine drinkers.“
“Was able to finally re-visit this winery that I hadn't been to since before covid. Earl was awesome and knowledgeable. I also had fun talking to some of the other tables that came to visit their lovely smaller tasting room that looks Northeast I believe and gives you a great vineyard view. Some very nice wines and reasonably prices. Strongly recommend them.“
“Such a great experience at Purple Hands! Bobby was so kind, welcoming and knowledgeable and shared so much good info with my mom and I about the wines and the Willamette Valley as a wine region. Loved every single wine we tasted - really incredible, complex Pinot is being made here and I was happy to grab some amazing bottles to share with friends and family. Thank you Purple Hands!“
“Wasn’t originally on my list of stops, but I’m very glad I made the detour. The experience was hospitable, kind, and attentive, all wrapped in a relaxed, easygoing tasting environment. And it certainly doesn’t hurt having Mt. Hood as a backdrop, hard to beat that view while enjoying a glass.“
“If you’re looking for an intimate tasting of extraordinary wines, you’ll have to work a little to find this hidden gem, tucked up into the Dundee Hills. Cody’s wines express complexity and nuance that will have you falling in love with every vineyard, every vintage. Owen was a knowledgeable and insightful host, sharing so much detail about the care that goes into production. You’ll feel like a Valley insider who’s treated to a personal and special experience.“
“Superlative tasting experience in a bespoke and intimate family-home setting. In an era of sprawling, over-the-top tasting lodges, Bergstrom welcomes you like a member of the family into their traditional home, slides some amazing tasting bites under your nose, and pours some of the most delicious wines available west of Burgundy. I hope y'all never stop doing it this way. Thank you!“
“Had a lovely experience here. Giselle is a lovely server and made our experience phenomenal. She is super attentive, taught us everything about what makes their different wines unique. Definitely stop by if you're in the area if you want to have a taste of what Willamette Valley has to offer for wines.“
“Great wines, so so tasting room. There’s nothing special about this tasting room: small, noisy, lack of decor, gravel parking lot next to the main road. However, their wines are superb! I don’t even like ‘bold reds’ but I like these. complex and balanced. In my opinion they are worth more than their reasonable price. The staff is friendly..no putting on airs here. They were also not sticklers about the number of people in our group that got free tastings for the amount of wine we purchased. Even if you go to other wineries for the vineyards and ambiance, stop here to stick up on really good wines!“
“We had a delightful visit with Deb in the tasting room. She was fun, knowledgeable and interesting. As a bonus for us, as she lived in Cincinnati for three years, she made us very welcome. We would absolutely recommend this gem of a vineyard. The wines are incredible.“
“Great staff and service. Rachael is our favorite host and never disappoints.“
“Great knowledge and personal attention..“
“My husband and I stopped at La Biblioteca yesterday, mainly because I'm a bibliophile! From the minute we walked in, we felt welcomed by Kalina, who was an absolutely wonderful hostess. She was extremely knowledgeable about wine and we chatted the entire time we visited, not only about wine but about books, travel, and life in the Willamette Valley. The tasting room is tastefully decorated with comfortable and adequate seating. We are not normally pinot noir drinkers but their wines have changed our minds. We purchased a few bottles and will look forward to visiting again.“
“Great wines at a great price!“
“Cool people, quick unload, place is tight to back into off a busy street with only one dock. The driveway is not even and you need to put your tandems to the rear once in position. Cars will get right up on your blindside so be careful backing.“
“beautiful wines, great people and spectacular views“
“The whole staff is very knowledgable and friendly. Monique goes above and beyond and you can tell she really enjoys what she does.!!“
“Very charming spot - quality rooms with nice decks and fantastic views of the wine yards and the valley. Very helpful staff. The grounds are peaceful and perfect for winding down for a couple of nights.“
“First stop in the wine country of Willamette Valley since arriving from Florida to taste the best Pinot Noirs was Torii Mor Winery. A little off the beaten path but what fabulous wines! The wine maker Jon was there which made this visit extra special, as we heard what care they put into producing these gems. So excited about bringing bottles home with us, to savor later. Wines fly free, yeah!“
“Amazing wine, beautiful winery and knowledgeable and friendly staff!“
“We had seven Willamette Valley wine tastings in three days, and Day Wines far surpassed the rest. The tasting room is warm and cozy on a rainy day, the wines were excellent, and Brianne and Layla were friendly, informative, and professional. We left feeling as if we’d made a few friends!“
