This time, we got to chat with Ali, who was very kind and shared that he runs the cart alone, and we finally got to try the kofta and chicken saj. Both were delicious and reflected Iraqi cuisine beautifully. We will be back!“

“I ordered 2 milkshakes (1 chocolate, 1 strawberry), fried chicken and fries for my son, and a lamb gyro for myself. Lamb gyros are already amongst my favorite foods, but listen- the spin they put on their gyros should be studied. I HAVE NEVER tasted any gyro so delicious! My goodness, I had to go back and compliment the chef because the food had 0 business being THAT GOOD! That gyro will forever hold a special place in my heart. The fried chicken was crisp and delicious,, and even the fries were seasoned and cooked to perfection. This place and its food lives rent free in my head for obvious reasons!“

“Found in a long line of food trucks, you will be glad to choose this spot for a quick bite! The portions were great for the price and everything was spiced perfectly. There is off-street parking as well as pay stations not far. Can be kind of sketchy to walk alone, but this is common in the city.“

“So disappointed... That I didn't know about this place sooner!! Last night my husband told me he had NEVER eaten a gyro. I knew I had to correct this immediately. So, I started looking for gyros near me. Now, since he's never tried one, I didn't want him to have a bad first experience that would put him off of them forever since I enjoy them so much. I chose this establishment based on very high google reviews (5 stars) and because it's so close to where we live (5 mins). This place has gone beyond expectations! The food is amazing! Perfect blend of delicious spices and ingredients. HUGE amount of food. It was so delicious that I scarfed it down so fast I got sauce up my nose. I'm so happy that we found this little gem. “Me and my family are Navajo so we eat mutton and there is no mutton sold anywhere in both Washington and Portland until we came across this shop. I went in with my grandma and mom to look at the ribs there. Despite my grandma being bossy in the moment, the staff was friendly and hard working and met our needs. “I've been eating here for about eight years, however, not as much in the last couple of years. The food is, and has always been, delicious. As far as the food goes, I think they're the best of this type of cuisine that the city has to offer. Always have had friendly service and I like the decor, but mostly I get take out.

I see some comments complaining about the price....this is the reason I decided to write this review. I usually get the eggplant stew rice plate and I remember a few years ago the price remained the same but they stopped including the side salad that used to come with it. I mentioned it on one visit and they were very kind and made me a salad for free. Since then I've not brought it up again and just accepted the wonderful stew and rice. Although it was not a lot of food I still thought the price was fair.

Tonight I ordered for the first time in a while and was a little shocked to see such a steep price hike. I usually don't pay $22 for something like stew and rice unless I'm aware the restaurant I'm patronizing offers some sort of profit sharing to their employees or pays well above minimum wage. I don't know how Dar Salam takes care of their employees as I've never asked about it.

Now with all that said, when I picked up my order it was easily twice the amount of food it used to be. Totally fair for the price, and easily enough food for two meals. I'm talking a full 16oz container of stew and probably almost a quart of rice. Maybe they heard the other comments, I don't know but I have no complaints with this place at all and will continue to recommend it to friends!“

Vegetarian options: They dont have a much veggies but they can make a selection off the menu for you.

Kid-friendliness: My kids loved the workers they were very nice they gave us free fries for the kids“

“I ordered from here on Uber Eats. Food was packaged with care to stay hot across town, they added a bit of extra rice to fill out the bag and a sweet treat. The food was stellar, loved the samosas, tikki masala was fire ^.^ ty for food for dayyyyyyyys!!! Generous and worth the money.“

“One of my favorites in Metro area since I moved here. Very professional and friendly people. I really do like their foods. Had a great experience ! They have delicious gyros (I love their lamb gyro). The tabouli is amazing as well! Also they have delicious Hummus that I love. If you want to try the Mediterranean food such as gyro , felafel, hummus, and other stuff, do not miss this place!“
