“Have to order everything at once. Kind of felt rushed by our waiter even though we were trying to enjoy some bubbles and catch up as we looked at our menus. Tasted practically everything on the menu. Would be nice if we could have just ordered a dish while we browsed the menu rather than being hounded to order.“
“Having lived for a decade in Lebanon, I'm very picky when it comes to Lebanese food. I would rather not eat it than pay for mediocre dishes. If you're the same, look no further than Al Hawr. It is, by far, the best Lebanese restaurant in Portland and could compete with the best ones back home. The staff is friendly and attentive, the owner will recognize you if you come back after one visit, and the food is out of this world. I try to take photos every time I go and end up forgetting because I just want to dig in. I was invited to look at the kitchen at the end of one dinner and it was spotless. The cheese rolls are crispy and addictive, the kibbeh is refined and tender, the meats are perfectly seasoned and cooked, the hummus is creamy, the baba ghannouj is flavorful and topped with vibrant pomegranate seeds, I could go on and on. The portions are generous and I love taking home leftovers to enjoy the next day. Parking has been super easy every time I've been. If you're looking for Lebanese food today, don't think twice and go there.“
“Food was delicious. My only complaint is I ordered a steak medium rare and it was pretty much well done. It was then chewy and not what I was looking for. Brussels, goat cheese ravioli and steak bites were delicious as was the pepperoni pizza with tons of pepperoni. Service was good and atmosphere was lovely. Next time, I will speak up about my steak.“
“I’ve been eating here just about 3-7 times a month for 5 months now, and every time the food gets better. The menu is incredibly well crafted and every time the food tastes just as good if not more so than before. Not only is the food amazing, the staff has the best customer service skills I’ve ever encountered from an eatery. Simply put, this might very well be the best place to eat in Portland.Side note, the quantity of food you get with their combo meals is unbeatable, and it absolutely doesn’t lack in quality either.“
“Once again Yalla has hit the mark. The food is delicious from the hummus and fresh pita bread to the corn bread to the fried chicken (also had the brussel sprouts, beef short ribs and pastrami). The service is stellar and the atmosphere is upbeat but not loud, intimate but not crowded. I would recommend Yalla without question.“
“I was wandering by from somewhere else and was jonesing for lunch. I got the vegan gyro, and it was delicious! The herbs and flavoring were perfect. The salad and potatoes were just right as accompaniments. The pita was nice and fluffy with a sumptuous amount of hummus. Would totally come back some time!“
“Happy we finally got to eat here after it's been on our list for some time. It didn't disappoint. Our server Stephanie was very helpful in giving us recommendations on what to try and she was very personable. We landed on the brussel sprouts, falafels, and lamb belly. The brussel sprouts were perfect, falafels delicious, and lamb belly was probably the best lamb I've had, though I did think it was a little too charred for my liking. My husband enjoyed his hot toddy and my sweet fruity mocktail surprisingly went really well with dinner. They've chosen good pairings. Cute little place too!“
“Best falafel I ever tasted, best of all, sag bread was yummy option. And i am from SyriaOwner and his wife were so welcoming. The size of the sandwich is really filling ?For sure we will stop for quick authintic homey food whenever we are in Portland.Definitely I recommend Kafta house food.“
“Love the falafel here. The menu is great and the staff are lovely. They have a great little cafe for coffee and smoothies too. And the market is quite large with lots of drink options. So glad to have this place in the neighborhood, right next to the park.“
“Truly wonderful restaurant experience. As a larger group, we ordered about 12 dishes, and I truly enjoyed every single one. Favorites from our table were Turkish baked hummus and pita, winter mushrooms, heirloom carrots and falafel. Service was wonderful and all staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I’ve visited a few times before and definitely plan to return again!Dietary restrictions: The restaurant provided a menu with checkmarks for the several dishes that were vegan. I think it was nearly a dozen options.“
“I went in and it was a bit of a wait so I asked to do a take out order. Service was great. When I got home…wow incredible. Everything was incredibly fresh. Super tasty flavors. Got lamb, hummus, and the rice/lentils. LOVED it all. They know what they’re doing.“
“In one word: amazing. The atmosphere is comfortable, the food is just so so good. It hits the spot, is light but filling and the flavors are varied and interesting. The fact that it is open late only makes it more perfect. Go here, you wont regret it.“
“Looks like Fofo has sold their food cart, according to the owner of the adjacent cart. This place had some of the best food I've had in my life. I could easily drop $100 getting 7+ items to enjoy over a couple days. The couple was always nice and looked like they loved what they did. Also one of the only places in town you could get fresh dolma that hasn't been sitting in a fridge for hours.I wish them the best in whatever else they do in life.“
“The restaurant has a very warm and cozy vibe, besides most importantly the food was amazing. I have tried many Lebanese restaurants in city, most of them are good, and Tarboush I would rate as best. I ordered chicken breast which was very flavourful and soft. The rice had perfect texture and wasn’t dry. Also the garlic sauce on the side didn’t have overpowering garlic taste, and didn’t have any aftertaste, it was perfect. I also liked the fact they are open atleast until 9pm unlike others which closes at 8pm.“
“I had to order my food “To Go” ONLY because I didn’t want anyone to witness me licking the plate. ? Located on the corner of that new community style living development, off Murray in Beaverton, this incredible Persian restaurant is an ABSOLUTE MUST TRY! Though I ordered something off the menu, not only did the Chef say, “Yes, I can make that for you,” but ohhhh my my, with the freshest of ingredients, perfect amount of spice, and a whole lotta love, he delivered a brilliant dish. My only complaint, portion size could be bigger…☺️ three words to describe this magnificent place…DEE-LISH-US…? ?‼️“
“If you’re in the area and hungry while reading this, I had the Beef Brisket Sandwich. My experience was well beyond worth it for the price I paid. Trust me - I love good food.If you’re reading this to get more details about the Gastro Mania experience, let’s go.I was leaving the Multnomah County Court House and it was well beyond the time I normally break my fast. I asked some of the officers at the entrance where they like to eat good food that’s nearby (police know all the good spots). One of them immediately said Gastro’s and the others chimed in supporting her claim. Okay, Gastro’s it was.As I approached the door, I noticed the hours of operation showed 3pm as the closing time - it was 2:37pm. I’ve worked in restaurants and I know how annoying it can be when someone strolls in 20 minutes before closing. Normally I would find somewhere else to go, but today I was starving.Upon entering the establishment, I quickly scanned for cleanliness as I walked toward the counter to order. While the relief of the passing of the cleanliness test hit me, I was politely greeted. I returned the politeness then proceeded to apologetically explain that I was aware of the closing time and understood if it was too late to provide service. I asked if there was somewhere else she could recommend. The polite lady smiled and said, “The lamb is really good.” Right as she said that, the chef walked in and she asked him, “Are we still open?” In hindsight, I think she did this to prove a point. He was just as polite as her and was even excited to prepare a meal. I would now be able to have a meal and not feel the least bit guilty about it. Let’s take a look at the menu. The menu was quite robust, from what I could gather with a quick scan. Let’s just say it was Mediterranean with some slight twists here and there (my apologies to the chef if this is too far off the mark). I noticed something that I did not expect and with excitement in my voice I declared, “You guys even have a brisket sandwich.”There was a patron wearing shooting-range yellow aviators still eating at a table behind me (your shades were awesome). He responded to my declaration before they could: “Yes! And it is amazing!” It was settled - I would try the Beef Brisket Sandwich. I added fries, paid for it, poured some water, found a place to sit and eagerly waited for my brisket sandwich to arrive. Maybe five minutes later the chef himself served the sandwich and fries. I thanked him and took a moment to admire the craftsmanship - there was also a nice-looking salad on the plate. If you’ve read this far, you must not be hungry…that changes now. Imagine that the last time you ate was more than 24 hours and your next meal just appeared in front of you. You can smell the freshness of the ingredients. You smell warm bread, slow roasted brisket, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. When I experienced these scents, my mouth immediately began to water.Which is better: the first bite or the final bite? I don’t know, but biting into this sandwich I swear it all just melted after a few chews. The bread was warm, soft and had just enough texture to counter yet fuse with the perfectly melted cheese. A little further into the bite came the grilled onions and mushrooms. That slightly zesty, slightly sweet onion flavor merged with the charred nuttiness of grilled mushroom served as the bridge to the brisket - oh my, oh my that brisket. I’ve only ever had smoked brisket, but this brisket had no smoke whatsoever. It didn’t matter. I could tell it was slowly cooked by the way it melted. The flavor of beef and fat married to the rest of the flavors is the best way I can describe it. It was all deliciously balanced.I’ve never had an official Philly Cheesesteak, but I’ve eaten some amazing cheesesteak sandwiches. Gastro Mania’s Beef Brisket Sandwich has a feint resemblance to an amazing cheesesteak sandwich, but it stands head and shoulders above any I’ve ever had. I will be back to try more of the menu.“
“I got the mezze sampler, which is under $20. The waiter let me make substitutions since I don't eat dolma or spinach boreks and didn't charge me for the water w/lemon. The felafels were very good, the hummus was good(which im always very picky about), the muhamara didn't have any sharp or bold tastes and was more creamy and bland which I guess is more crowd friendly but not the usual muhamara taste I was expecting, and the salad was fresh and tasty also. They give you HUGE pita when you sit down, which is awesome. I struggled to even get through half of it, but it cooled down a bit after a few minutes. There's nothing like a hot/warm pita to go along with your meal. They really should serve it with the food for that 10/10 experience.I just came from the dentist and had 3 numbing injections. The left half of my mouth and tongue were completely numb, but I could still taste mostly. I live in central oregon where there is no middle eastern or Mediterranean restaurants. Theres a kefi, but im talking about real Mediterranean food, not a chain restaurant that puts tzaziki and feta on all their cheap food chain foodSo yea, nicholas restaurant definitely a 5/5, but they should make their muhamara the traditional way, and serve the pita warm with the food. Definitely coming back againParking: There are like 7 or 8 spots in the lot, otherwise yous have to find a spot on the street or pay for the other spots in the lot“
“When you order food from a restaurant you're putting your trust in the owner and the staff. With that being said I try to be picky about where I will eat. The owner here is very nice, very organized and very clean. The quality of the food is excellent and the taste of the food is also excellent. I deliver food during the day so I know every restaurant in town. I highly recommend that everyone try the food from this place. Also I almost forgot to add my wife likes baklava and always orders that everywhere that we go. She told me that the baklava from here is the best that she has ever had.“
“The creamiest, most tasty and authentic hummus I've ever had!No, really- I had a sample of it a few days before and know I would be back very soon. I brought my husband with me tonight, and we ordered a few of our favorite things. °Grape leaves stuffed with rice°a big beautiful salad with °delicious beef kabob skewer °their famous creamy hummus with hot pita bread.Friendly ServicePlenty of tzatziki on the sideSeating at this food court is plentifulThe music was OK and wasn't too loud“
“We had a magical time celebrating our adult son's birthday. The service was at the next level, the food was delicious, and the space and ambiance were so comfortable. The wine list gave us some great options as well. Highly recommend this place.“
“Due to the stellar reviews, our college baseball team chose Moonlight Grill for their post-game meal and they did not disappoint. The team needed 38 gyros, a mix of chicken schawarma, beef schwarma, and lamb meat gyros with homemade baklava and they were able to accommodate us on short notice. The friendly owner was a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend Moonlight Grill if you want a delicious meal that will be well-received by all!“
“Today is the 4th time I have been to CORE. Lucky for me, I ate at Sandy's Myanmar Cuisine today. It was SOOOO good! I tried the national dish, catfish soup with guava drink. Definitely stop by. Henry & the management team at CORE definitely have a great venue - and a great atmosphere! I will definitely be back!“
“Blown away. Taste was so complex and exciting. So many layers of flavor. Ishtar Gates been on my list for a while since it came highly rated but I always forget. Ordered for take out and food was ready under 20 minutes. I love that when I wked in, I felt like I was in another place, either a densely stacked city like NYC or an overseas country that has late night street food. Oh! Also they give you so much food! Anyways, I've told so many friends about it and now you, too.“
“Angelina’s is great every time. I work in the area, so I like to stop in when I get the chance. I feel it necessary to highlight the team. They are friendly and they take special care to provide above average service. The food is on point every time.I like to order a chicken wrap and a vegetarian wrap. Their array of fresh sauces go beyond the delicious tzatziki. Honestly, I cannot rave enough about the lil shop on Ankeny that fills the alley with delicious smells.Do yourself a favor and stop in.“
“Amazing food and drinks. The flatbread was a highlight. Seemed to have a lot of new staff in training but honestly they seemed to have a better disposition than the one “veteran” male server. So that likely will be a positive over time. Bartender was excellent at off menu drinks as well. Overall, recommend and am excited to go back to see how the new staff have settled in.“
“I live nearby, so I often grab lunch (often a chicken gyro) here when I’m working from home. While I love the food, the service is what seals the deal for me. The proprietor’s warmth is often the best part of my workday, and even when he’s out, his employees hold up a high standard.I consider The Sultan a neighborhood institution.“
“I have been a couple of times, this time I got the lamb gyro and it was simple and delicious! I don't always like lamb but this was perfect! I will definitely be back. I also like that it's a hole in the wall, tucked into a corner of the convenience store but there are a couple booths and tables so you can sit and eat.“
“I have eaten here a few times. Everything is gluten free except the naan. All the dishes are amazing, but the biryani is off the charts amazing. It is all home made and fresh. Will definitely come back and try everything else.Kid-friendliness: Food truck atmosphere. There is a stage to play on unless they have live music performing.“
“Great meats. Had both the chicken and steak kabob and they were both amazing, would lean towards the chicken. Didn't have any of the issues in one of the other reviews... Portions were large, meat and veggies were fresh, seriously good food!“
“ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. All the food had incredible flavor!! We will be back to try more! We savored every single bite. The service was walk up counter service and unspectacular - ran out of water and were the only customers there while the two girls behind the counter gabbed it up. We would've tipped way more after the meal knowing how amazing it was. Hats off to the food and the atmosphereWill be back! YUUMMMM“
“Our family have been getting takeout here for several months on an almost weekly basis since discovering it near our neighborhood. It is such a good combination of value and deliciousness that can't really be beat in this type of cuisine. I think the prices are really reasonable for the quality and highly recommend the spinach pies and the baba ganoush in particular. They are really friendly and always very fast with the service. I see this being our go to for some time to come. Thanks Gyro House you guys rock!“
“Such tasty food! These are the small businesses I love to support. Authentic & wholesome. I got the lamb & pork plate. It is a good size serving. With fresh homemade hummus, some pita bread (idk if they make it in house but it’s amazing), saffron rice, feta, a mixed green salad with tomatoes, onion, and a sort of mustardy dressing (I assume the dressing is homemade too, it’s delicious). That plate is $14 & can definitely be two meals. I appreciate they were open during this crazy snow/ice storm we’ve had over the past week. 10/10 recommend coming here.“
“By the time we finally stopped in for dinner here, I'd driven by Two Brothers Rakia Bar and Grill an uncountable number of times, each time vowing that someday I'd stop in and see what it was all about. Prior to our first visit (which also happened to be on my birthday), I was only vaguely aware of what Balkan cuisine is like thanks to an episode or two of Anthony Bourdain, but honestly, I had no idea of what to expect. Now I do: Delicious, hearty, filling, heartwarming, unpretentious, down-to-earth dishes that flirt with aspects of Russian, Turkish, and Mediterranean flavors and ingredients. And that Rakia? Amazing! What is Rakia, you ask? Think of it as "fruit brandy", and you're pretty close. There are several types, each distilled from a particular fruit, the most common being apples, pears, apricots, grapes and quince. It's also quite strong, so you won't be knocking back more than a few, if you plan on driving home!We ordered a hummus and pita appetizer, and the Combo 2 to split between us, as I couldn't decide between the singular cevapi, sudzuka sausage, or goulash entrées above, and decided to knock out as many as I could with one blow. Two outta three ain't bad...but I *am* coming back for that goulash!Everything that was served hit the spot! The cevapi, listed as a "beef roll", are a sort of finger food meatball (no fork required! well, I didn't use one, anyway!) that pair wonderfully with the provided sour cream and ajvar, a red pepper and eggplant spread. Dip and dunk to your heart's content! And despite looking like glorified breakfast links, the sudzuka sausages pack a powerful flavor punch that was well received by us both. The flavor is strong, earthy, unique, and really just amazing. It made me want to start poking around international grocers and strip mall Russian to find them again! The interior was a little smaller than I expected, but it was clean, cozy, dimly yet warmly lit, with an ambient glow coming from behind the bar. A couple of TVs were playing sporting events. The bartender doubled, and tripled, as our server and the bus boy, and he did so with a friendly, welcoming demeanor. He appeared to be alone at first (where is his brother?!), until we spied a woman (who was probably his mother, judging from the interactions we observed) holding down the fort in the kitchen, and doing all the cooking. To her, I say "Gemrieli! Gmadlobt! Chven davbrundebit!"Upon leaving Two Brothers, my wife and I both walked away impressed, a little more cultured, a little tipsy, a little heavier, and a little happier! Not a bad way to celebrate my 44th orbit around the sun! And the next time I end up driving by Two Brothers, there's a strong likelihood that I'll be making a detour and ending up in the parking lot instead!Gaumarjos!“
“Y’all sent me the review request, but everything was solid, except the falafel. Maybe the chickpeas were par-cooked or something, but legit the worst falafel I’ve had in a while.Sauces: all greatfries: banginSalad: satisfyingFalafel: texture of bubblegum if bubblegum could be dry and chewy at the same time. Flavor: old parsley and baby aspirin.“
“Wonderful place, highly recommend! We’ve eaten here a number of times and every dish we’ve had has been excellent, and the service is great too - got confused about an item (greek names) and didn’t get what we expected - the waiter did not hesitate to take it back and promise to deliver what we intended to order; our mistake but no problem, no hassle. White table cloths, well designed decor.“
“I had such a lovely Chicken Tagine at the Kasbah Moroccan Cafe today. The owner/chef was personable and the restaurant was clean with a nice atmosphere. The mint tea was wonderful, too, and I loved the whimsical tea-cozy felt. I'll definitely come back next time I'm visiting Portland!“
