“I came to Metro Diner this morning off the humbug. I was starving & was craving some chicken & waffles from somewhere close in the area. Surprisingly the chicken was very seasoned and crispy. The waffles were also very tasty and soft. The strawberry butter mixed with their signature hot sauce was also pretty good. Alicia was my server. She was such a doll :) Her knowledge of the menu is impeccable and she took very good care of me. If you are in the Newark area and would like some tasty and quick diner food, go there & ask for Alicia <3 Thanks Alicia will be there again real soon !“

“Visited for the first time on Sunday. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich & it did not disappoint. Waitstaff was very friendly & welcoming. I would definitely return!“

“The Back Burner has a gem in Patty. The food is always dependable, and the wine list is surprisingly reasonable for some good quality wines. I think all of these things contribute to the restaurant's staying power in Hockessin.“

“Administrative details - While you usually must make a reservation a year in advance (which I did), there are a very few earlier spots available on their website. In addition, if you are on the email list, they send the occasional last-minute availability. Talula’s is BYOB. The price was $125 and with all the other things, taxes, gratuities, it came to $160. The Nook Table is available for 6-8 diners and the Farm Table is for larger parties. Website link is below. Everything is presented in “tasting” small portions. In addition to the menu, they provided a couple of additional offerings. I did not do a good job of capturing the delightful descriptions of the food provided by our server. (The next time I go, I will video the descriptions if they allow.) The group did a great job of bringing wine which was beautifully poured in appropriate glassware by our server. The server also paired the wine with the offerings for us! The service was exceptional without being pretentious. After each tasting, plates, utensils and glasses were cleared and refurbished so discreetly that you hardly noticed. The menu changes with the “farm to table” availability. My favorite was a squash tarte. [I was delighted to find that I did not like the foie gras. It is “made” in a most inhumane and horrible way. This is the only time I have eaten it and I will never eat it again.] I was sorry to find that by the Black Garlic Beef Ribeye (#6 on the list), I was getting to the point of “too much food.” The only downsides were “too much food” for most of us and the wines they suggested for the pairings were hard/impossible to find. I personally did not like the varieties of wines they suggested for pairings. The rest of the party enjoyed the comparable wines they were able to find and allowed the server to pair with the tastings. I will be making a reservation for next year very soon. I have already made a reservation for the “sister” Talula’s Garden in Philly for September.“

“we went to the restaurant this Friday night for their fish and chips special. I must say it tastes like the fish was caught today it was so fresh. not sure how it was breaded it but it was light and tasty. I think I am sold going here every Friday night. we had Jen for our waitress who was fabulous. she was so friendly and she gave us the best service. we cannot wait to go back again for this meal. we also had the Italian pear cake for dessert and once again they surprise me with a delicious dessert which I will definitely order this again. don't know how they did it but I give the chef a A plus.“

What makes her amazing…always greets you with a smile, quick and efficient and she always makes recommendations that turn out to be the best recommendations ever.

“We decided to go to dinner at Firebirds. I had been once and was not impressed; however my husband had never been there. I have to say the food was good. Cooked exactly the way we wanted. The only draw back we had is the portions of food that you receive for the price that you pay. We felt like we were robbed. We don’t over eat so when I say we had small portions, we really had small portions. The dessert was even small portions for the price that you’re required to pay. The five very thin layers of lemon cake were good but the slice was very thin for $10.25. Out bill was $76.30 for two and I would have no problem if we had an appetizer and alcoholic drinks but there was none of that because we don’t drink. We each had a soda because the lemonade was too tart. The server was very pleasant and on time with everything. We tipped her well as we should have. Not sure I can return there. A little more light would be appreciated if I did return.“

“I would normally recommend Six Paulpers, HOWEVER, last night's service was terrible. Not sure what the problem was. We first waited for quite awhile for a waitress, so we just went to the bar to get our own drinks. The waitress shows up, we order our food, and it took quite awhile to get to us. My husband got the French dip and fries, I got the cheesesteak egg rolls. The FFs were cold, greasy and had no taste. My egg rolls were burnt. I sent the FF's back, and asked to see if the chef would like to look at the FF's! She goes OK, but the chef isn't in, just the sous chef! And that was it! 🤣We had to go to the bar for another drink. We finally saw our waitress again for us to ask for the bill! Hope this was just an off night!😬“

“Took grandkids to 896 Pie today after a swim in the pool. Great service and amazing pizza. Brent is the owner and he was so friendly and engaged with his customers. All the grandkids and two adults enjoyed the perfectly cooked pizza. Thanks for a great visit“

“Bit of a wait for a table. Eclectic crowd of townies and college students. It was good that only half our group showed up as we would never have gotten a table together. One of our group tapped a keg and had to switch to a lesser ale! Food was good and service was attentive given how busy it was. Definitely worth a return trip.“

Service is generally excellent but sometimes waiters will forget that you’re outside if dining on the patio and not attend to your table.“

“The manager was extremely kind and helpful. We arrived very late and the kitchen was closed but he offered us a few pizza options and we were more than grateful!! Our server had time to explain the menu and make recommendation to our group that included a 4 year old. Why is this relevant? Because, she gave her the same respectful service as she did the adults. Thank you. Now let's get to the food. I had the Chicken Picatta. I had to take the picture because at the first bite I new it was about to be destroyed. I left nothing on the plate. The Impossible Sloppy for those who need a vegan option also got a thumbs up. The food comes out hot hot! No one complained! I will be back the next time I am in Delaware.“

He was so wonderful and pleasant to speak to and so accommodating. Our waitress Crystal H was wonderful too. She gave such great service, even helping us to decorate the tables. I didn't expect her to do that but that was so nice of her. The food was great and prices reasonable. The staff there all seemed so friendly. Again many thanks. “As a person who has frequented many restaurants and establishments in my life this is my real opinion. I had a 40 year career with one major corporation dealing with customer service and sales. I tend to judge places on what was expected of me being successful in my life. There are way too many places where customer service is lacking. I tend to avoid them and spend my money where people appreciate their customers. Today it's very rare when a GM sets the standard for the other employees to follow. Two Stones Pub GM, Mallary is excellent. She is engaging to all the customers, assists with the bartenders and servers. Unfortunately that doesn't happen very often. If you haven't been there I highly recommend going there.“

“The Owner Michael Quinn should take a step back and put the bottle down when being in his own place of business. He says it is a kid friendly place, yet, a well behaved child on the dancefloor was outside of his liking during his night out drinking with the wife apparently. His delivery of telling me he doesn't want my child on the dancefloor, followed by lies was unacceptable. Its ashame because the staff there is Phenomenal. He would be better off allowing his manager Kate do the talking if he doesn't like something in his drunken pugnacious state.“

“Easter Buffet was extra special with a variety of entrees. The menu included a wide variety of seafood, ham, roast beef along with vegetables, rolls, and some great desserts. We will be visiting the restaurant again for my husband's birthday. He loved the food so much he selected it for a family celebration. Take some time to dine at Wesley's Restaurant, you won't be disappointed.“
