“My husband and I went out for a date night and it was perfect! Our waitress Jennifer was AWESOME! She answered any questions we had about the menu and even gave recommendations. “I came to Metro Diner this morning off the humbug. I was starving & was craving some chicken & waffles from somewhere close in the area. Surprisingly the chicken was very seasoned and crispy. The waffles were also very tasty and soft. The strawberry butter mixed with their signature hot sauce was also pretty good. Alicia was my server. She was such a doll :) Her knowledge of the menu is impeccable and she took very good care of me. If you are in the Newark area and would like some tasty and quick diner food, go there & ask for Alicia <3 Thanks Alicia will be there again real soon !“

“I would normally recommend Six Paulpers, HOWEVER, last night's service was terrible. Not sure what the problem was. We first waited for quite awhile for a waitress, so we just went to the bar to get our own drinks. The waitress shows up, we order our food, and it took quite awhile to get to us. My husband got the French dip and fries, I got the cheesesteak egg rolls. The FFs were cold, greasy and had no taste. My egg rolls were burnt. I sent the FF's back, and asked to see if the chef would like to look at the FF's! She goes OK, but the chef isn't in, just the sous chef! And that was it! 🤣We had to go to the bar for another drink. We finally saw our waitress again for us to ask for the bill! Hope this was just an off night!😬“

“Enjoyed my birthday tonight with family and friends. Grew up in Newark and have never eaten here. It did not disappoint. Love the history and the ambience. Our waitress, Piper was phenomenal, .... friendly, accommodating, and very attentive. The food was perfectly portioned and all tasted great. The soft pretzel was wonderful. The Brussel Sprouts was excellent and the short ribs were tender and flavorful. The apple cider mule was a perfect drink to top it all off.“

“We decided to go to dinner at Firebirds. I had been once and was not impressed; however my husband had never been there. I have to say the food was good. Cooked exactly the way we wanted. The only draw back we had is the portions of food that you receive for the price that you pay. We felt like we were robbed. We don’t over eat so when I say we had small portions, we really had small portions. The dessert was even small portions for the price that you’re required to pay. The five very thin layers of lemon cake were good but the slice was very thin for $10.25. Out bill was $76.30 for two and I would have no problem if we had an appetizer and alcoholic drinks but there was none of that because we don’t drink. We each had a soda because the lemonade was too tart. The server was very pleasant and on time with everything. We tipped her well as we should have. Not sure I can return there. A little more light would be appreciated if I did return.“

Highly recommend this restaurant. Flat screen to watch games on and sport bar up front. I'm a female and made me feel very welcomed there. Cleaning there is top knot. Smell great in there . “Administrative details - While you usually must make a reservation a year in advance (which I did), there are a very few earlier spots available on their website. In addition, if you are on the email list, they send the occasional last-minute availability. Talula’s is BYOB. The price was $125 and with all the other things, taxes, gratuities, it came to $160. The Nook Table is available for 6-8 diners and the Farm Table is for larger parties. Website link is below. Everything is presented in “tasting” small portions. In addition to the menu, they provided a couple of additional offerings. I did not do a good job of capturing the delightful descriptions of the food provided by our server. (The next time I go, I will video the descriptions if they allow.) The group did a great job of bringing wine which was beautifully poured in appropriate glassware by our server. The server also paired the wine with the offerings for us! The service was exceptional without being pretentious. After each tasting, plates, utensils and glasses were cleared and refurbished so discreetly that you hardly noticed. The menu changes with the “farm to table” availability. My favorite was a squash tarte. [I was delighted to find that I did not like the foie gras. It is “made” in a most inhumane and horrible way. This is the only time I have eaten it and I will never eat it again.] I was sorry to find that by the Black Garlic Beef Ribeye (#6 on the list), I was getting to the point of “too much food.” The only downsides were “too much food” for most of us and the wines they suggested for the pairings were hard/impossible to find. I personally did not like the varieties of wines they suggested for pairings. The rest of the party enjoyed the comparable wines they were able to find and allowed the server to pair with the tastings. I will be making a reservation for next year very soon. I have already made a reservation for the “sister” Talula’s Garden in Philly for September.“

“The Owner Michael Quinn should take a step back and put the bottle down when being in his own place of business. He says it is a kid friendly place, yet, a well behaved child on the dancefloor was outside of his liking during his night out drinking with the wife apparently. His delivery of telling me he doesn't want my child on the dancefloor, followed by lies was unacceptable. Its ashame because the staff there is Phenomenal. He would be better off allowing his manager Kate do the talking if he doesn't like something in his drunken pugnacious state.“

He was so wonderful and pleasant to speak to and so accommodating. Our waitress Crystal H was wonderful too. She gave such great service, even helping us to decorate the tables. I didn't expect her to do that but that was so nice of her. The food was great and prices reasonable. The staff there all seemed so friendly. Again many thanks. “Came here after visiting Longwood Gardens! Ordered the ultimate trio with fried pickle fries, chicken quesadilla, and mozzarella sticks and parmesan chicken fettuccini. Highly recommend the ultimate trio. Fettuccini sauce tasted a bit bitter but the chicken was great quality. Had great, timely service even late at night.“

“Great vegan/veggie joint. Pretty high prices but the food is all made in house and tastes great. This area is expensive for businesses to operate so it makes sense. Fresh produce is key to their flavor. Pretty decent service, although you can definitely feel it when they're busy--the staff tries their best and have great attitudes. Highly recommended local business. The ambiance is pretty neat but not too remarkable, a bit of modern and a bit hippie all at once. Larger parties any struggle to find seating unless they give a notice prior to the day they want to be served.“

“Local watering hole situated in a busy strip mall. Good place to meet friends for a drink and bite to eat. The beer was cold but didn’t eat anything.

The bar area is tight but a huge dining room with plenty of tables in the back.“

Our server had time to explain the menu and make recommendation to our group that included a 4 year old. Why is this relevant? Because, she gave her the same respectful service as she did the adults. Thank you. Now let's get to the food. I had the Chicken Picatta. I had to take the picture because at the first bite I new it was about to be destroyed. I left nothing on the plate. The Impossible Sloppy for those who need a vegan option also got a thumbs up. The food comes out hot hot! No one complained! I will be back the next time I am in Delaware.“

“As a person who has frequented many restaurants and establishments in my life this is my real opinion. I had a 40 year career with one major corporation dealing with customer service and sales. I tend to judge places on what was expected of me being successful in my life. There are way too many places where customer service is lacking. I tend to avoid them and spend my money where people appreciate their customers. Today it's very rare when a GM sets the standard for the other employees to follow. Two Stones Pub GM, Mallary is excellent. She is engaging to all the customers, assists with the bartenders and servers. Unfortunately that doesn't happen very often. If you haven't been there I highly recommend going there.“
