“My sweetheart and I went here on our second date. The original plan was to meet at Dead King Bread in Manyunk, and then hike in the Wissahickon. Dead King was closed, however, and my sweetheart quickly suggested Roma Cafe as an alternative. I'm ashamed to say that I never knew about this bakery. When I think of Italian bakeries, I typically think of South Philly. This is the real deal. An interior that harkens back to earlier times, and probably owners that harken back to an earlier time!

It was here that I discovered that my sweetheart is extravagant with treats, especially sweets. As a bit of a minimalst, I chose a rather bland biscuit. He chose an array of half a dozen treats, including canolies.

When we eventually made our way to the Wissahickon, we discovered that we had each packed more treats for the hike - cheese, grapes. He brought the most wonderful brie from Trader Joes that was as soft and gooey as if you had baked it in the oven. I noted with approval that he was equipped with a good picnic bag, as was I.

As we walked through the Wissahickon, I was captivated by his friendliness to everyone we passed on the trails, including the dogs.

My granddaughter daughter talked about Mochi donuts ? and booba teas.. we got so much, from donuts, smooties to hot cheeto corn dogs.. everything was delicious. Not to mention, my daughter left her purse there early in the day (yes we we twice in 1 day ??‍♀️) and we didn't know it. Customer service was excellent. Atmosphere is very welcoming. “got a 6-pack, first time trying (had a gift card). i'd say it's worth the money if you're getting one cookie as a snack, or you're getting a pack for a sizeable group of people to share. both my wife and i tapped out after eating 1 cookie (chocolate chip - delicious), when at insomnia we'd usually eat 2-3 each for a dessert. if you don't like thicker cookies, these are not for you - though it has a cookie texture, they're almost like mini cakes. but again, if you're looking for a more filling cookie, i'd pay the extra $1 to get it over insomnia's.“

“Crust was an accidental find. I was strolling down the main street in Manayunk and the familiar vegan word caught my eye. Inside, I was surprised by the variety of baked goods, past the usual cupcakes and cookies. Multiple refrigerators house cheesecakes, cake cups, tiramisu, breakfast bakes, monkey bread, and more. We bought a seeded card (Mother's Day is around the distant corner) and a chocolate strawberry cheesecake. The strawberry cheesecake was dense and creamy with a crispy Oreo crust. I've visited a lot of famous bakeries in Europe and Asia, and the cakes here are exactly how I like them: not annoyingly sweet, with rich flavors, fresh ingredients, and a texture that's just right. The space also reminds me all the cute cafes you often found in Asia. I've already bought 4 cakes here in 3 months (2 more to go) and plan to keep ordering from them!“

Second, I appreciate their business practices. Just yesterday, I ordered some cookies, and although they usually ship the next day, they weren't able to get into the shop due to the ice. “My mother & I came here for breakfast while we were waiting for my chinchilla to have a procedure done at the vet close by. Wow! We both had the Waldorf salad. I had mine on sourdough bread & she hers on a bed of lettuce with the tarragon chicken salad as well. Absolutely amazing. The chai latte was also great. I did not catch the barista’s name, but she was very helpful and friendly as well. All around great experience at the elegance cafe!“

“I was in the area and decided to pop by to try a thing or two. Not knowing anyone who had tried them before I stuck to the small, individual sized items…browned butter chocolate chip cookies, morning croissant and some pizza dough. It all comes frozen but I had other places to go so some started defrosting in the car. Here’s my review of each. Cookies - I don’t like ANY chocolate chip cookie that doesn’t have nuts in them. I usually wouldn’t even buy them, I decided to try these because of the browned butter. I had one in the car before I got home and they were AMAZING! I shocked myself at how much I enjoyed them. They were soft without being chewy, a feature I hate in cookies personally, and had nice crispy edges, even after defrosting! The taste, texture and everything about these defied all that I thought was possible with a gf cookie! 10 out of 10 Pizza dough - since it was defrosted by the time I got him I decided to make a couple mini pizzas. I used half the dough, I bag will easily make 4-5 personal sized pizzas. I thought I had rolled it too thin as it started to break apart so I made it a little thicker. It rises while cooking so when I do the rest, I’ll leave it thinner for sure. Because other gf pizzas seem to have such difficulty cooking in the city I was concerned when I saw these rising. But they cooked up beautifully! It was soooo nice having gf pizzas seem that had the taste and texture of traditional crust. I appreciate suppliers for having the option available, and some are better than others…but the Flakely dough is the standard now! I’ll never buy another gf pizza, whether it be a restaurant or a market. 10 out of 10 Morning croissant - I put this right in the freezer so I haven’t tasted it yet. But it looks phenomenal! They described it as a cross between a cinnamon roll and a croissant. You can’t go wrong with that combo as a general thing but given how the cookie and pizza dough has tasted, I have no doubt this will be terrific as well! Run, don’t walk, over to their shop and let’s make sure they’re around for the long haul. Just beware, they might spoil you against some of your existing faves!“

“I had not heard of this bakery but a friend suggested meeting there a couple evenings ago. This was the Burke, VA location. The choice of pastries was pretty amazing, what we had was fresh and truly outstanding, service was efficient and friendly, and the place itself was very clean. Will be back!“
