“Really cool bar to drink local spirits. The bartenders were super nice and let us try a couple different things we were interested in. Cocktails were really good. I would definitely go back. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was super chill but I can imagine that it gets really noisy as soon as it fills up. Also you can bring your own food, since they don’t have a kitchen, so that’s really cool!“

“Stopped in for their Thursday 5-8pm happy hour, stayed for the go-go dancer and the all-vinyl DJ! This place truly is special, frozen in time. The historic venue/bar has so much charm and life in it still. DJ Hardbargain and dancer Butterfly Jones made the space so cozy and vibey! 10/10 recommend for a drink out with friends and a sweet spot to dance.“

“Got there after a tour of the penitentiary across the street, for a quick drink before dinner. We sat at the bar. Service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was good, considering it was a monday at 5! We were a bit hungry and ordered the sprouts from the happy hour menu, and they were warm, tasty and very well seasoned. Great small selection of draft beers, cocktails and hard liquor. Didnt try the mains but seemed good too.“

New Liberty Distillery Distilleries • $$
1431 Cadwallader St, Philadelphia

“We had a fantastic time yesterday at the new Liberty Distillery. Parking was easy, and finding the place was straightforward - just look for the brick building, walk up the stairs, and you're there. Opting for the tour was a great decision; we enjoyed the intimate vibe and learned a lot about the history of whiskey/bourbon, including seeing the pot stills in the basement. My only minor complaints revolve around wanting more clarity and organization within the distillery itself. While the laid-back atmosphere is fine, for a company in the bourbon world, a tighter ship would be ideal. This place has enormous potential and I hope they can recognize it as they grow and make changes. For instance, moving the tour bottles out of the sun(sun soaked :( whiskey) , using the back bar as an additional register (not only for tours) for convenience, and creating an atmosphere that encourages people to linger. Currently, it feels like the primary focus is on making purchases and leaving, rather than fostering a welcoming environment where customers want to stay longer. Lastly Their 15-year offering is fantastic and a must-try for any bourbon enthusiast, despite being the most expensive.Still overall a great experience“
