“Came to La reserve for the first time and can frankly say the service and the food was outstanding. We had the beef tartare old school with the lemon ricotta pasta and the bavette. Wouldn’t be able to pick out of the 3 what was better, I just know everything was on point. Every bite was a blast of flavor. I highly recommend this place.“

“We had a lovely evening at Foxy last evening from the moment we were greeted to when we left. We sat at the bar where Enzo made sure we were comfortable and well informed of the items on the menu as well as the freshness of the products sources locally.
He made very well informed wine suggestions to maximise the enjoyment of our meal. The beef tartare is the best, we order this regularly in others restaurants, that we have had. The caveleti with clams was a dish to crave enough to be back for another visit.
Thank you for a wonderful meal.

“Stopped by for a late lunch last Saturday and ended up completely floored by the duck in a can, which the server actually cracked open tableside and it smelled incredible. The dining room has this cozy, wood paneled energy that photographs beautifully in the afternoon light coming through the front windows, so I couldn't help snapping a few shots before digging in. Staff were friendly and didn't rush us even though we lingered for almost two hours chatting and taking pictures of the plates. Portions are huge, the foie gras poutine is genuinely worth the hype, and I'm already planning a return trip with a wider lens.“

“I solo travel at least once a year and decided to come to Montreal for the first time over my birthday weekend. My first meal/birthday dinner was at Le Vin Papillon and I can’t express what a wonderful experience I had. The mushrooms might be the most incredible dish I’ve ever tasted (I will likely dream about them) and the ham was equally delightful. I sipped on the Martinez Rose (delicious but very strong- do not order if you’re a lightweight). 😂. The staff surprised me with a carrot cake ice cream sandwich and while I don’t typically enjoy carrot cake…this was next level.

More importantly, the staff was superb. They were so welcoming and attentive. I’d love to give a special shout out to Flo- thank you for your kindness and for making my birthday dinner so special.

“Toque has become an unforgettable dining experience. The food is absolutely outstanding. Each dish was plated well and every ingredient used created a depth of flavor and textures. If you plan on visiting, don’t skip on the tasting menu. I highly recommend dining here and experiencing it to its full potential. The service was also great. My only critique would be that the servers could be a bit more engaging. Will be returning!“

“Tucked away at the back of a church this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We sat at the chefs table and were able to see all the food being prepared and ask the chefs more details about the food. We had the wine pairing menu which was excellent. Our server was very accommodating as one of the wines was not to our taste and they quickly replaced it with an excellent choice. The flavours in each course were delicious and made want to savour every bite. We will definitely be returning to Restaurant Candide again.“

“Despite a competing event on the soccer field next door, the outdoor patio out back had a great vibe and a super cozy ambience. The server was great, and the busser was outstanding - she was efficient without being intrusive, filling our water glasses, cleaning the table, bringing us extra bread, etc. and all with a smile. The food, as always, was exceptional. Of course we'll be back!“

“Came in for a late breakfast/brunch while on holiday. Turned out to be a popular spot but we got the choice of seating inside or outside since there was plenty seating.

So much choice, ample portions and well priced. Will be a tough decision to go anywhere else in the city for breakfast.

“I somehow managed to be given the best seat in the house: next to the kitchen, and right next to the chef, Josh Crowe. The experience of sitting at the bar allowed me to better appreciate the inner workings of this 30-year old establishment. The staff were as kind and supportive of each other, as they were to the guests, who filled the restaurant, bar, and terrace on this warm May evening. I observed Chef Josh and co-owner Barbara Irwin continuously interacting with each staff member. I had never witnessed such a high level of communication, where information flowed seamlessly from the front of the restaurant to the kitchen and vice versa. My meal began with a great cocktail and was followed by a glass of Spanish red, which paired very well with the best pork chop that I have ever had. The 3-inch thick chop was perfectly cooked and the complex flavours of the dish melted together harmoniously. It has been a few years since my last meal there, but I will be back shortly to enjoy the social sidewalk terrace, which offers the best in NDG people watching. You may decide to go to the Tavern for the food, cocktails, and wine list, but you will also be treated to the culture that Barbara & Josh have established over the past decade. They have created something special and seem fully committed to maintaining the same high level of culinary experience and appreciation for their patrons. My overall impression of the Monkland Tavern is one highlighting a collaborative team approach, effective two-way communication, a concentrated attention to every detail of the dining experience, professional courtesy, and mutual respect. “What an exquisite atmosphere! I could hardly tell the difference form this restaurant from the actual cave i visited in Afghanistan when i was 12 years old. They served me a samosa that was an absolute delicacy. I prefer these samosas to the indian ones!!! The servers were incredibly polite despite the fact i do not understand arabic! 10/10!“

I’ve rarely experienced such excellent service and she gave sound advice. Unfortunately, I don’t know her name, but she works on Friday evenings. I’d like to thank her again. She managed to turn our evening into an exceptional experience.

“This small ice cream shop gets very busy at night. There are no seats, so it is a strict grab-and-go spot. I think the place is okay. The flavors are nothing special, but they have a lot of options on the menu. They have frozen custard and many fruit sorbets, so there is something for everyone. The best part was the staff. They were very friendly and nice, even though it was crowded. It is a good spot to walk by and grab a quick sweet treat.“
