“The food was amazing and the service was incredible.

We tried the oysters, beef tartare, maitake, black cod and the dacquoise for dessert. Every dish was delicious and very fresh.

The service was very nice. The food came quickly, the waiters were friendly and attentive.

The food is a bit expensive but it was definitely worth trying at least once.“

“Top five meals of my life. Sat at the bar and Bryan spent a lot of time with me going over the menu and wines which I could order by the glass. Let me sample the wines as well. I had five small plates and four glasses of wine. Some of these were absolutely exquisite, specifically the mushrooms. They made rapini taste good. Do you have any idea how difficult that is? The atmosphere was very friendly and decor interesting. Thank you so much Bryan and Chefs.“

“Brought my golden retriever hoping to find a patio spot on a quiet Tuesday night, and the staff at Toqué! went out of their way to make us both feel genuinely welcome. The sommelier actually came outside to chat with us while we waited for our table, which felt like such a warm touch. I ordered the aged duck with roasted root vegetables and it was honestly one of the best things I've eaten in Montreal, perfectly balanced and beautifully plated. If you have a dog and you're looking for a fine dining experience that doesn't make you feel like an afterthought, this is the place.“

“Tucked away at the back of a church this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We sat at the chefs table and were able to see all the food being prepared and ask the chefs more details about the food. We had the wine pairing menu which was excellent. Our server was very accommodating as one of the wines was not to our taste and they quickly replaced it with an excellent choice. The flavours in each course were delicious and made want to savour every bite. We will definitely be returning to Restaurant Candide again.“

“Menu is not large but they have a lot of specials that are off menu they offer when you arrive. I can be a picky eater but the staff was very accommodating and made everything work for me. The drinks were great and came quickly, everything was fresh and flavourful, very much worth trying. Reasonably priced as well and the portion sizes are good!“

“I somehow managed to be given the best seat in the house: next to the kitchen, and right next to the chef, Josh Crowe. The experience of sitting at the bar allowed me to better appreciate the inner workings of this 30-year old establishment. The staff were as kind and supportive of each other, as they were to the guests, who filled the restaurant, bar, and terrace on this warm May evening. I observed Chef Josh and co-owner Barbara Irwin continuously interacting with each staff member. I had never witnessed such a high level of communication, where information flowed seamlessly from the front of the restaurant to the kitchen and vice versa. My meal began with a great cocktail and was followed by a glass of Spanish red, which paired very well with the best pork chop that I have ever had. The 3-inch thick chop was perfectly cooked and the complex flavours of the dish melted together harmoniously. It has been a few years since my last meal there, but I will be back shortly to enjoy the social sidewalk terrace, which offers the best in NDG people watching. You may decide to go to the Tavern for the food, cocktails, and wine list, but you will also be treated to the culture that Barbara & Josh have established over the past decade. They have created something special and seem fully committed to maintaining the same high level of culinary experience and appreciation for their patrons. My overall impression of the Monkland Tavern is one highlighting a collaborative team approach, effective two-way communication, a concentrated attention to every detail of the dining experience, professional courtesy, and mutual respect. I was impressed and you surely will be too.“

“This restaurant is one of the hidden gems in Montreal. We found it on a trip here a year ago and came back twice this trip. We have had brunch twice and dinner tonight and it didn't disappoint. The staff here are amazing, every visit makes us think we just had the best server ever. We have never had trouble getting a table here even during very busy times. Do yourself a favour and visit soon and often!“

“Have been to Montreal Plaza before and it was 5/5. I always enjoy the variety of dishes and creativity in the sharing menu but some of the food was a bit salty this time. Many dishes featured soy sauce and it was just too salty. Will still be coming back but just know that the quality may be a little inconsistent.“

“What an exquisite atmosphere! I could hardly tell the difference form this restaurant from the actual cave i visited in Afghanistan when i was 12 years old. They served me a samosa that was an absolute delicacy. I prefer these samosas to the indian ones!!! The servers were incredibly polite despite the fact i do not understand arabic! 10/10!“

“Delicious pizza with lots of different flavours and topping options. I love the cheese. It is so fresh and yummy. The side is also good and I like the thickness. Most of the other places are very crispy and sometimes burnt but this place does it well. The chewiness is very nice.“

J'ai été pour la première fois hier à l'occasion de la fête des mères et ... on y retournera certainement pour la fête des pères ! Que dire, tout est parfait ? L'ambiance est conviviable. Les lieux sont ultra propres, incluant la salle de bain. Le service était impeccable et rapide. James fait le tour de tous les clients sur place pour s'assurer que tout est bon. Excellente initiative à la hauteur du restaurant. Je ne peux que chaudement recommander (et je suis quelqu'un de difficile !)“
