“Excellent restaurant with good food, wine and drinks. Have been here quite often and never been disappointed. Only thing I find is a problem is the NOISE - especially when the place is full.“

“I don’t think I can say enough good things about this place.

I have eaten at Michelin star restaurants all around the world. A lot of them are generally tasting menus. Which I do believe foxy may offer. However, we chose the Comptoir chef seating. Which means we got to sit at the counter and watch the chefs in action it was such an amazing experience.

When you first walked into the restaurant, you can smell the wood because they cook everything over wood and it is such an amazing smell. It sets you up for a great experience right from the beginning.

We sat at the counter as I mentioned. At first, I was thinking while this counter is awfully tiny. How is this going to work. But I do find that the servers staggered the food and placed everything precariously in a way that made it all work. So yes, it’s a small space but it worked just fine.

We ordered a bunch of items to share between the group. We started with the Scallop Crudo and the feta and pita. I personally loved the scallops more than the pita, but my coworkers loved the pita better. Then we moved on to The Little gem salad and the Capelletti pasta. Both were fantastic. Last we had maitake mushrooms and cod. The mushrooms were a meter event for me! I’ve obsessed with mushrooms, and this was absolutely incredible.

The server came by and asked if we wanted dessert. We decided to have oysters and carrots as our dessert. Lol we saw the chefs making them and they just looked so incredible that we couldn’t resist.

This is going to sound really strange, but those carrots were really one of the highlights for me. I can’t explain it. They were just so incredibly flavorful and it was something I will think about for a long time.

The only negative for me is that I didn’t really love the wine selection that the server suggested. However, wine is such a personal preference that it’s not really his fault. It just it wasn’t for me.

Major shout out to Jenna. She was manning the oven closest to us. And she was doing everything with a smile. She was explaining the process to us. She was doing such an incredible job. She made the experience even more fun.

“Food and service were excellent. The Temaki were a great way to start off the meal and each of the dishes had their own little shining moment. We all agreed the Skate on the parsley purée was the favourite. The Beef Tartare and the Noodles with Lamb were also great. Desserts were original and capped off a great meal. Great spot for a date night or as a group. Will definitely be returning.“

“What an experience! Over the course of about 3 hours, 7 fantastic dishes, paired with 7 glasses of perfectly selected wine, I discovered what the term "fine dining" actually means. It's sophisticated without being overly serious, the flavors are always playful, changing right when you think you've figured them out. My favorite dish was a charred trout with roe and confit melon, in a beurre blanc sauce (chef's kiss). However, everything was truly wonderful, from a perfectly cooked strip loin, to rare squab with a rich berry sauce, to a braised beet on top of an intense shiitake mushroom puree. The service is impeccable: they never miss a beat. Whether it was never missing the opportunity to pull out the chair for my companion, to simply exuding a quite and comforting friendliness. Accommodation is what they strive for, and they go above and beyond to achieve that while maintaining an air of effortlessness. Needless to say, I'm counting the days until I go back.“

“Tucked away at the back of a church this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We sat at the chefs table and were able to see all the food being prepared and ask the chefs more details about the food. We had the wine pairing menu which was excellent. Our server was very accommodating as one of the wines was not to our taste and they quickly replaced it with an excellent choice. The flavours in each course were delicious and made want to savour every bite. We will definitely be returning to Restaurant Candide again.“

“I use to go to this restaurant, I love the food and the vibes. Last 5 times the sauces (onglet, fish, poulet) are too salty, maybe in the reduction sauce process the sauces become salty, still delicious but a little bit less of salt would be great.“

“Went here last night with my wife, and 10 year old daughter. Great location, wonderful and friendly staff. We had raw oysters, lobster fettuccine, risotto, bone marrow, a couple drinks and dessert. Was great food, and experience. We would definitely return next time we are in town.“

“What an exquisite atmosphere! I could hardly tell the difference form this restaurant from the actual cave i visited in Afghanistan when i was 12 years old. “I was totally impressed by the friendly service and hard workers trying to satisfy all their clients. The atmosphere is perfect and the food is the best I have had in a long time! I have tried several items on the menu and each one was delicious! You can tell the Chef has plenty of experience and takes pride in what he prepares for his customers!
