“Excellent restaurant with good food, wine and drinks. Have been here quite often and never been disappointed. Only thing I find is a problem is the NOISE - especially when the place is full.“

“We had a lovely evening at Foxy last evening from the moment we were greeted to when we left. We sat at the bar where Enzo made sure we were comfortable and well informed of the items on the menu as well as the freshness of the products sources locally.
He made very well informed wine suggestions to maximise the enjoyment of our meal. The beef tartare is the best, we order this regularly in others restaurants, that we have had. The caveleti with clams was a dish to crave enough to be back for another visit.
Thank you for a wonderful meal.
Now i wish i could remember the name of the book Enzo recommended…“

“Stopped by the pied de porc farci a couple weeks ago on a quiet Tuesday evening and the whole place still had this warm, slightly chaotic energy that made for great candid shots. The duck in a can they prepare tableside is as rich as everyone says, and I managed to snag a nice low angle photo of the broth being poured right at the table. Our server was genuinely funny and patient while I fiddled with my camera settings between courses, never once rushing us. The dark wood interior and low lighting are tough for photos but honestly add so much character to the whole experience.“

The service was efficient and they made us feel very comfortable. The ambience is exceptional - there are many areas that help keep the murmur of noise to a minimum, allowing for a peaceful and relaxing meal while also giving a strong sense of activity and buzz. They have an amazing wine list.

“What a fabulous dining experience. The menu is quite abstract, so it is perfect for any adventurous eaters. The atmosphere was great, it’s a really beautiful vibe. What made this place a 5/5 was the outstanding service. Our server Jasmine was a dream; she was knowledgeable, attentive and incredibly kind! Every member of the team that came to our table was just as courteous and gracious as we asked our many questions. Overall an excellent experience. Do yourself a favor and get the carrot cake!!“

“Tucked away at the back of a church this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We sat at the chefs table and were able to see all the food being prepared and ask the chefs more details about the food. We had the wine pairing menu which was excellent. Our server was very accommodating as one of the wines was not to our taste and they quickly replaced it with an excellent choice. The flavours in each course were delicious and made want to savour every bite. We will definitely be returning to Restaurant Candide again.“

“Stopped by for a late lunch on Saturday and ended up staying almost two hours just taking in the room, the exposed brick and soft light made it perfect for some quick phone shots between courses. The sweetbreads were the highlight of the meal, crispy outside and so tender inside that I almost forgot to photograph it before digging in. Our server noticed my camera bag and offered to seat us near the window for better natural light, which honestly made the whole visit feel more personal. Already thinking about going back next weekend to try the tasting menu and get a few more shots of that open kitchen.“

“Ce restaurant n’est rien de moins qu’une perle rare. Nous y étions hier et ce fut une expérience gastronomique extraordinaire. Et extraordinaire ne reflète pas notre très grande appréciation et satisfaction pour les œuvres d’arts qui nous furent servis. Oeuvres d’art sont les mots justes. À découvrir et à répéter.“

“I absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere was so warm, cozy and welcoming. We went for dinner with friends and sat on the terrace, which was such a nice experience. It was quite cold outside, but the terrace was heated, so we were completely comfortable the whole time.

The staff were all incredibly kind, friendly and attentive, which made the evening even better. And the food… OMG! I ordered the chicken with saffron rice and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was so flavorful, beautifully prepared and honestly exceeded my expectations. One of our friends invited us here, and I’m so glad they did because it turned out to be such a lovely evening. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, amazing service and the perfect place to have dinner and spend time with family and friends.

“I somehow managed to be given the best seat in the house: next to the kitchen, and right next to the chef, Josh Crowe. The experience of sitting at the bar allowed me to better appreciate the inner workings of this 30-year old establishment. The staff were as kind and supportive of each other, as they were to the guests, who filled the restaurant, bar, and terrace on this warm May evening. I observed Chef Josh and co-owner Barbara Irwin continuously interacting with each staff member. I had never witnessed such a high level of communication, where information flowed seamlessly from the front of the restaurant to the kitchen and vice versa. My meal began with a great cocktail and was followed by a glass of Spanish red, which paired very well with the best pork chop that I have ever had. The 3-inch thick chop was perfectly cooked and the complex flavours of the dish melted together harmoniously. It has been a few years since my last meal there, but I will be back shortly to enjoy the social sidewalk terrace, which offers the best in NDG people watching. You may decide to go to the Tavern for the food, cocktails, and wine list, but you will also be treated to the culture that Barbara & Josh have established over the past decade. They have created something special and seem fully committed to maintaining the same high level of culinary experience and appreciation for their patrons. My overall impression of the Monkland Tavern is one highlighting a collaborative team approach, effective two-way communication, a concentrated attention to every detail of the dining experience, professional courtesy, and mutual respect. I was impressed and you surely will be too.“

“We had a pleasant experience at Montreal Plaza, but the food was just okay and didn’t quite live up to our expectations. The presentation was nice and the service was good, but overall, the flavours were not as memorable as we had hoped. It’s a nice place to visit, though we expected a little more from the food.“

“Lively place that’s quite busy on a Sunday morning. Got a place at the bar but managed to move to a table close to the window. The waiter was a bit hectic as he was running around all the time while the other waiters took it more relaxed which creates a nicer atmosphere. Anyway - maybe that’s his personality… the food arrived after a few minutes - was good not really a wow moment. The filter coffee doesn’t taste at all so let’s wish for other coffee styles to have a taste. Overall ok experience - no need to repeat (at least for me)“

“Came to La reserve for the first time and can frankly say the service and the food was outstanding. We had the beef tartare old school with the lemon ricotta pasta and the bavette. Wouldn’t be able to pick out of the 3 what was better, I just know everything was on point. Every bite was a blast of flavor. I highly recommend this place.“

“What an exquisite atmosphere! I could hardly tell the difference form this restaurant from the actual cave i visited in Afghanistan when i was 12 years old. They served me a samosa that was an absolute delicacy. I prefer these samosas to the indian ones!!! The servers were incredibly polite despite the fact i do not understand arabic! 10/10!“
