“Wow, a top New York City type restaurant in Newport. Forget the losers comments from years ago. Dress like you’re going first class. Atmosphere here is awesome…2nd floor is special. Drinks are reasonable and delicious. Our server PATRICK WAS AMAZING. They explain specials and drinks. Most attentive and all foods were perfectly presented. Wanna another drink, ask and within 2 minutes it’s there. We had wild mushrooms and salmon that were incredible as appetizers. Caesar salad was fresh and lettuce crisp. Scallops special had my wife shaking her head. My seafood linguine was overflowing with fresh seafood. The dessert of “Snowball from Hell” can be shared. Our 54th anniversary was unreal. The people who own it and those who work there are AMAZING, friendly, and take the time to talk to customers while keeping service at the top of their list. They (from the kitchen to the front door) look like they love working there and have created a loving family environment. Of course, the line was out the door and down the street, but that was okay because everyone enjoyed visiting each other. There is just one warning, the portions are enormous. You know when my husband can't finish it, it's a lot. 🤣“

“Today we made a pilgrimage to Basil Yu’s restaurant, Yagi Noodles. My son happened to see that Basil had become a successful restaurateur while he was watching one of Guy Fieri’s shows. We had become acquainted with Basil when we were all involved with a Boy Scout Troop in Manchester NH. We were disappointed to discover that Basil wasn’t at the restaurant, however we got over it when we found out it was due to a commitment to a fundraiser for the James Beard Foundation. Basil, You weren’t there, but your food is delicious. You get the Merit Badge! You weren’t there, but your staff is spectacular! You get the Merit Badge! We wish you continued success! “Steph and the team at scratch were SUPERB! Our catering order was perfect (tho we were sad the croissant machine was down) every thing was piping hot (or nice an cool). Everything was SOOO good. Ordering was easy, Steph ensured we had a great variety and enough to feed the post-wedding crowd. We did have breakfast here and it was stellar! Any event you need catered, be sure to check Steph and the team out. You will, NOT be disappointed!“

“Just finished great meal. Huge lobster roll, high quality kids chicken and big beefy kids burger. I had the fish n chips which was amazing! Old Bay fries and what had to be a whole Cod! The best part was Peter N. He was very informative, quick in serving the kids which lets Mom and Dad relax. Such a great day and great meal.“

“The food was absolutely amazing—I’ll never forget that incredible toast! This place has a hard closing time: around 4:45 they start mopping and sweeping, and you’ll need to take your food to go. Which I get, just something to keep in mind when planning your visit. The food is totally worth every penny spent here.“

“We were vacationing in Newport from Wisconsin and stopped in at Cappy’s. Sue the bartender was friendly and a wonderful bartender. The owner Joe, what can I say….what a guy! Joe saw us walking to our Airbnb and yelled at us on the street asking when we were headed back home. Joe is a gem of a bartender. He has a gift of gab and can hand out the bs too. Nice local establishment with friendly customers and bartenders. We had Dan as a bartender too and he was a friendly, great guy! “7.26.25 The beer and the venue are a 5, but the burgers & wings were just not good at all. They serve more than just beer if beer isn't your thing. This place is just amazing. Huge outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoors also has lawn seating with Adirondack chairs besides the 2 level patio/decks. Everything is new and modern, and the landscaping is immaculate. Huge parking lot, too.“

Jasmine green tea was pretty good (7/10) We really liked the decaf coffee (9/10) what a treat. The regular coffee was not noteworthy, but fine. Nitro’s is much better. Great breakfast sandwich, grab and go ready!“

“I was visiting Newport and decided to stop by your shop with a friend to get ice cream around 4pm on August 31st when we pointed out to the young guy making the order that he gave me the wrong cone. After pointing out that we asked for waffle cone he became very rude and started throwing things around and even swore. Needless to say we will not be returning there again.“

Let me be honest with you, the drinks are GOOD. The food is GOOD. I’m glad I got to try it, I just don’t think I would go out of my way to try it again. if I stumbled upon Thames street and the shop had no line, sure I’d go in and get a drink. But I don’t think it’s worth the hassle. I really appreciate and commend their ability to use creative flavors and brand marketing strategies to garner more talk and buzz around their store. If u happen to be in Newport, try it. But don’t go crazy trying to get a banana matcha.“

“Came for dinner, lobster rolls were pretty good and a reasonable price. Drinks were a reasonable price too. Service was a little spotty, which is the main reason for the three stars. I think they may be shorthanded. As the evening went on the place got more of a nightclub feel.“
