“5 stars all around! This place is delicious! Off-season, Wednesday night October, and it was packed. Despite the crowd, our server was attentive and helpful. Highly recommended daily oyster selection and the clam chowder. I enjoyed the featured halibut…. Not sure how often that makes the menu, but if you see it, try it! And save room for the snowball from hell. It’s worth it! Met the GM who graciously gave us a tour and treated us like celebrities. I wish we had more time here… I’d eat here everyday!“

“We enjoyed having breakfast at this wonderful place while in Newport, RI. The people who own it and those who work there are AMAZING, friendly, and take the time to talk to customers while keeping service at the top of their list. They (from the kitchen to the front door) look like they love working there and have created a loving family environment. Of course, the line was out the door and down the street, but that was okay because everyone enjoyed visiting each other. There is just one warning, the portions are enormous. You know when my husband can't finish it, it's a lot. 🤣“

Absolutely outstanding! I just had the most amazing BLT with coconut bacon at ROOT on Broadway in Newport — pure amazeballs. They never disappoint! The flavors were incredible, the coconut bacon was a total game-changer, and the vibe is always spot-on. I also grabbed some chocolate chip cookies for dessert and they were heavenly. If you’re in Newport and craving something delicious, creative, and plant-based, ROOT is the spot. Can’t wait to go back!“

“Today we made a pilgrimage to Basil Yu’s restaurant, Yagi Noodles. My son happened to see that Basil had become a successful restaurateur while he was watching one of Guy Fieri’s shows. We had become acquainted with Basil when we were all involved with a Boy Scout Troop in Manchester NH. We were disappointed to discover that Basil wasn’t at the restaurant, however we got over it when we found out it was due to a commitment to a fundraiser for the James Beard Foundation. Basil, You weren’t there, but your food is delicious. You get the Merit Badge! You weren’t there, but your staff is spectacular! You get the Merit Badge! We wish you continued success! “Just finished great meal. Huge lobster roll, high quality kids chicken and big beefy kids burger. I had the fish n chips which was amazing! Old Bay fries and what had to be a whole Cod! The best part was Peter N. He was very informative, quick in serving the kids which lets Mom and Dad relax. Such a great day and great meal.“

“We were vacationing in Newport from Wisconsin and stopped in at Cappy’s. Sue the bartender was friendly and a wonderful bartender. The owner Joe, what can I say….what a guy! Joe saw us walking to our Airbnb and yelled at us on the street asking when we were headed back home. Joe is a gem of a bartender. He has a gift of gab and can hand out the bs too. Nice local establishment with friendly customers and bartenders. We had Dan as a bartender too and he was a friendly, great guy! “I visited the Portsmouth location for the second time this morning and this is a perfect first date spot imo. The large wraparound deck is so cute & cozy, like a farmhouse porch. & the coffee 🤩 I had a tiramisu latte last time, a cherry Garcia latte this time- I was not disappointed either time, the flavors were accurate without being overwhelming or weakening the espresso, & oh so delicious. The food is even better; the attention to detail & balance of flavor in the dishes is off the charts. I recommend the avocado toast or whipped feta plate, and if you’re not into coffee, their teas and lemonades are just as amazing.“

Jasmine green tea was pretty good (7/10) We really liked the decaf coffee (9/10) what a treat. The regular coffee was not noteworthy, but fine. Nitro’s is much better. Great breakfast sandwich, grab and go ready!“

“7.26.25 The beer and the venue are a 5, but the burgers & wings were just not good at all. They serve more than just beer if beer isn't your thing. This place is just amazing. Huge outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoors also has lawn seating with Adirondack chairs besides the 2 level patio/decks. Everything is new and modern, and the landscaping is immaculate. Huge parking lot, too.“

Let me be honest with you, the drinks are GOOD. The food is GOOD. I’m glad I got to try it, I just don’t think I would go out of my way to try it again. if I stumbled upon Thames street and the shop had no line, sure I’d go in and get a drink. But I don’t think it’s worth the hassle. I really appreciate and commend their ability to use creative flavors and brand marketing strategies to garner more talk and buzz around their store. If u happen to be in Newport, try it. But don’t go crazy trying to get a banana matcha.“

“Absolutely great food and service. Dined last Saturday evening with two of our teen and preteen grandchildren. All of us enjoyed our meals and the service was on point. This next point deserves mentioning as it speaks to the culture of the establishment: When my granddaughter became ill (NOT food related), the manager came over immediately to help comfort her… she brought hot tea and took her to more private quarters to relax until her discomfort passed. We were impressed and remain grateful for the compassion and level of care exhibited. We will continue to visit again and again in the future. Many thanks!!!“

We are slim athletic people and we barely had enough room even to open our menus!! We have been coming to the West Deck for 30 years and always had great meals.
