“We had not been to The Shanty in years, but are so happy we decided to go back. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. Karen was the ultimate professional. The TV dinner was absolutely amazing and my son had the summer pasta, which was fresh and delicious. Maybe the highlight of the night was the Snickerdoodle Ice Cream Sandwich which was easily shared by three. Honestly, I can't wait to go back.“

A massive portion of Cod in a batter so thin It looks like it was spray painted on.
It Is prepared with loving care and the highest of precision. Lightly fried and served steaming hot from the first bite to the last.
You will not be disappointed.
Accompanied with creamy tartar sauce, coleslaw and fries. You will not find this dish prepared any better than this anywhere else.
So if you have a twenty dollar bill burning a hole in your pocket, don't waste it on a scratch off ticket or a pack of smokes.

I don’t like mushrooms so tonight they made the best ribeye I’ve ever had with Shishito peppers instead of mushrooms and it blew my mind. The Baked Alaska is the best dessert I could ever imagine. “Location/decor/ambiance: the owners have tried to turn the spacious brick and beam interior of a former factory building into a ghetto-ish inner cityscape skateboard park using graffiti-style airbrush graphics, little skateboards that serve as bar chair seat backs, concrete floors painted with Providence manhole covers, etc. Visually, the effect is mixed. I “get” what the owners are trying for, but it isn’t for me an “attractive” dining decor. It looks much more like a dance club for young twenty-somethings. I quickly adjusted to the inner-city grunge decor, but what we couldn’t adjust to was the VERY loud rap/hip-hop music blaring out of some very robust speakers non-stop. Talking was difficult. Yes, I’m an older person, but I don’t begrudge anyone their musical sensibilities… provide its not full of “***** and “nigga” and roaring out at at least 90 decibels. Whatever they’re trying to be, they need to remember that they are l (at 10 am) a restaurant, not a dance club. Food & service: unexpectedly, given the above criticism, the food was outstanding, I mean really good. Caught us off guard. Just beautifully imagined and realized. Would I return? Probably not. Even the great food cant quite overcome the soundscape. Interesting place, though“

“The place where you can eat real soul food“

“I came here for taco Tuesday and the food was very good. I wasn't impressed at all with the service. Upon arriving , there was no host to greet even though there was a sign that said wait to be seated. Once the bartender took notice she seated us. Our service was very slow.
We sat outside, where there is plenty of bar and table seating along with indoor seating. I will come again but service needs improvement.“

“This is probably the best place I have ever eaten. The food is magical and makes you wanting more. Ive been telling everyone about this place. The menu is diverse with something for everyone. This has been my new restaurant to take people to impress them. I’ve brought my whole family here. They were extremely impressed and they are a tough crowd to please….trust me. I’ve also had my whole office go out here one night and they were blown away. My friends from out of town told me that next time they come this is the first place we are going. “Ordered the Juevos Rancheros. The sauce was EXCELLENT, the cotija cheese was EXCELLENT, the beans were EXCELLENT, and the corn tortillas were the BEST Ive ever had! Pretty sure they were homemade. The only issue I had was the tortillas were on a side dish where Im used to having the eggs, beans, sauce etc on top of the tortillas! Still excellent!
Also came with plantains which were very good, Im just not the biggest fan of them.“
