“I visited The Shanty with two of my best friends for brunch, and we were all incredibly impressed. The atmosphere was beautiful, with fresh flowers, charming table settings, and plenty of convenient parking. The menu offered an excellent selection of fresh brunch and lunch options to choose from! We were especially impressed by the variety of mocktails available - our cold brew mocktail was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect spot for a girls' day, and I would happily return again.“

“all I can say is WOW! Im not easily impressed by any restaurant. Main Sail Kitchen blew me away! The mussels were the best I've ever had. I could eat them every day of my life (order extra bread to soak up the delicious sauce) thr shrimp is poached well and is the size of a lobster tail. I ordered a caprese sandwich but I have no idea how ill eat it! Deanna was my server and her recommendations were so on point. what a great addition to Main st eg!“

“We found ourselves continuously returning to this restaurant during our trip in DR. Nothing seemed to compare! Our waitress, Ebony, was a sweetheart and consistently greeted us with a warm smile. The empanadas were incredible! The Pina Colada is really good here too. Highly recommend.“

“Strive is beautiful inside. I love how each of the rooms give a different vibe. Check out the speakeasy downstairs. Deon and Chef Teddy make us feel like family every time we dine here. I have not had a bad meal or drink. We have tried both the brunch and dinner menu and they did not disappoint. Date nights are perfect on Friday night before 8pm.“

The only thing was when it costs $13 for a glass of wine, I'd like a good pour. The pours were a bit small. Service was excellent. Pricey but expected this, would definitely go back.“

“Fine dining done right! I can tell how much attention was put into everything we ate. We went w 2 charcuterie meats as an app and I went w the monkfish as a main course. While not an immense amount of food, it was perfect as I’d eaten a couple hours earlier. Regardless, it was delicious- the best part may have been the veggies!

Half chicken and sea bass were also delicious. I haven’t even mentioned service and vibes, which were great.“

“Location/decor/ambiance: the owners have tried to turn the spacious brick and beam interior of a former factory building into a ghetto-ish inner cityscape skateboard park using graffiti-style airbrush graphics, little skateboards that serve as bar chair seat backs, concrete floors painted with Providence manhole covers, etc. Visually, the effect is mixed. I “get” what the owners are trying for, but it isn’t for me an “attractive” dining decor. It looks much more like a dance club for young twenty-somethings. I quickly adjusted to the inner-city grunge decor, but what we couldn’t adjust to was the VERY loud rap/hip-hop music blaring out of some very robust speakers non-stop. Talking was difficult. Yes, I’m an older person, but I don’t begrudge anyone their musical sensibilities… provide its not full of “***** and “nigga” and roaring out at at least 90 decibels. Whatever they’re trying to be, they need to remember that they are l (at 10 am) a restaurant, not a dance club. Food & service: unexpectedly, given the above criticism, the food was outstanding, I mean really good. Caught us off guard. Just beautifully imagined and realized. Would I return? Probably not. Even the great food cant quite overcome the soundscape. Interesting place, though“
