“We don't get up here very often, but wow what a great deal. We got the family meal and it was so much that our family of 6 ate on it twice. Great chicken fingers that even my picky eaters were happy. Dinning area is a little dated, but service and price make this a must if you are up in the mountain.“

“We visited the area for the first time since this gem opened. We had such an enjoyable experience and meal at the chef’s counter Friday night that we sat there again for Sunday brunch. We really enjoyed the staff and how committed and excited they are to put really great food out of the kitchen. We will definitely come back when we visit the area!“

“A brunch all day restaurant is the perfect addition to the southside. I walk here, but there is a nice free parking lot adjacent. The bagels are the real deal, the tots are delicious, great options for everyone. I have loved everything I’ve tried. So far, my favorites: the French toast, the avocado toast with egg, and I love their thin crust pizza. Drinks, coffee drinks, great service - all the things that make me happy!“

She was very friendly, very knowledgeable of the food, went above and beyond for us and her fellow servers to help when things got busy. Best service we’ve had in a long time. “We were passing through Chattanooga And we googled restaurants near me with good ratings. We were staying at Riverview Mountain Inn, and decided to go there. I’ll start off with Vicky and Steve were amazing. They gave us a couple of samples to try before we even actually ordered. I got the homemade chicken salad and brussels sprouts with balsamic..amazing! We also got mahi fish tacos with french fries well done and coleslaw and both entrées were absolutely amazing. Atmosphere was very quaint, very personable. We are from small towns in Missouri and we feel the owners gave us that Hometown feeling….. We would highly recommend this place if you’re passing through from anywhere, but especially if you’re staying at Riverview Mountain Inn. “Walk straight off the street into something you thought was gone forever! A real Cafe’ Dinner in retro style! Breakfast is King of the day here but the menu makes anytime delicious! Service was stellar and makes you want to tip! The food is like something from Grandma’s kitchen! If you leave hungry it’s literally your own fault! I recommend highly! Beats any hotel’s breakfast! “Today my mom and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Southern Star. We both had your food bar, and it was filled with healthy as well as good, old fashioned comfort food. My husband loves chicken and dressing, your special today, as well as cornbread, so I bought him a portion to go. When I got home, I warmed it up for him, and of course, he loved it too! I was glad that I grabbed some of your baked goods, and so far, we have devoured the HUGE ginger snap cookie!!! The staff were all super friendly and they even made a delayed to-go order so I could take a fresh lunch back to my kiddo when she got out of her practice. The aesthetic of the place was wonderful and people from all walks of life gathered there as if they, too, knew about the magic in the food. 12/10 will absolutely come back on my next visit to Chattanooga.“

What really makes the place shine is the bartender — super attentive and genuinely welcoming. It’s rare to find service this good anymore.

Bonus: drinks flow until 2:45am, and yes — smoking inside is welcome, which adds to the old-school lounge feel.

“I stopped by at the Chattanooga Market today and had the Philly cheesesteak fries based on Chef Chasity’s recommendation. I am always nervous to order cheesesteak, French dips, etc. because I really do not like fatty meat and so many places do not take the time to scrap that part. I know some people like it that way, but not me. The Philly Cheesesteak fries were delicious! I almost chose the chicken & bacon fries. So glad I didn’t!! Will definitely be visiting Eastgate Mall to try more of the menu. Hoping she can change my mind about seafood in Chattanooga, as I am quite picky about that as well!“
