(This isn't a great breakfast for us vegetarians, however.) Love the mural map of some local cities, too. Great friendly staff, too!Vegetarian options: I think that even if you didn't order meat, the eggs and migas are still cooked in lard or grease. Long time vegetarians actually lose the enzymes to process meat products, so your guts will talk to you about it later.“

“This is a go to place for me when I want cheap, authentic Mexican food without a long wait. I love their breakfast here and that a lot, if not most, of their plates are under $10. I’ve gotten huevos rancheros with cubed fried potatoes and beans, their American enchiladas, their chicken flautas, and my husband has gotten their chile relleno. The waitstaff is kind and attentive but I’ve only heard them speak Spanish but they seem to understand English too. I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad plate here, but I will admit, sometimes the rice is a bit bland. The decor itself is like an old mom and pop shop with some TVs playing Spanish channels.“

“Aguas frescas are great! As soon as you pull up they walk up to your car and give you free samples. I have tried 6 of them and honestly all of the drinks were great. Some contain milk so that did a number on my stomach. They are all good, you will not be disappointed. I also tried the chicharon preparado, I wasnt a fan. “First time visit here. As soon as I walked in I noticed that it felt so much like Grandma's house on a Sunday morning. There is a tiny area where you can dine in just like Grandma's kitchen. We ordered potato and egg and chorizo and egg tacos. They were well filled and the tortilla homemade. I also got a chili Kings plate. It was well served and was not expecting so much food. Looking forward to visiting this place again very soon.“

This Mexican BBQ master griller is hidden in a residential & business area by it's location and proximity to an auto mechanic you might just pass it on but man they can grill & Q. The owner came to my car and apologized cause they were almost out of meats but I was hangry after my gym and needed my protein!!! HUGE servings I got 1/2 lb of beef fajitas but I think she gave me a whole pound and a quarter chicken!Meats were so delicious and seasoned well very tender, came with in-house made corn tortillas, yes in-house made they are so soft and tender with the meats in them they were very delicious. Green hot sauce and tomato cilantro salsa kicked the whole thing up to the sky. Charro beans very juicy and a hint of heat, rice fluffy good! “Just had the full Scottish breakfast and it was fabulous. Perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, the haggis and black pudding were very tasty and perfect. Great staff looking after you. This is definitely one of the best places to get ceviche aside from south padre. I don't even like seafood but i love this place. I highly recommend the tositos verdes ceviche. It is pricy but you get what you pay for.“

“Wife and I were just passing by and decided to take a chance. We're glad we stopped by Small place, probably no more than 12 tables. One waitress is very attentive and friendly. The rice and beans were excellent, almost like moms and the entrees were seasoned perfectly, and portions were large for the price. The meats ate cooked over mesquite and you can see the pits outback and the aroma is awesome. We've already been back twice. The only caveat is to be careful with the parking. There are a few holes you need to maneuver around.“
“Food was delicious and at a fair price. We were on vacation from Ohio and our hosts recommended Los Machetes. We were so happy they did! Our quesadillas were fantastic and the salsas that came with them added even more flavors. The presentation was fun & unique. Staff was helpful and super-friendly. They answered our questions and were (deservedly) proud of the food they offered. When we return to the LRGV we will definitely be returning to Los Machetes!“
