“Mi Chula #2 on the north side of University Drive, between First Cash Pawn and the Famiky Dollar, is one of three locations for this small local restaurant chain. Mi Chula is a favorite among locals and is known for great Mexican food, friendly service, and reasonable prices.

I had never been to Mi Chula, but met a friend here for lunch. The inside is colorfully decorated with a Mexican theme. I was greeted as ai entered and the service was excellent throughout my meal.

I was brought a menu and the server took my drink order. They offer limonada con pepino, Coca-Cola fountain drinks, bottled Mexican sodas, and coffee.

The have a wide selection of breakfasts with chikaquiles, breakfast tacos, eggs with machacado, bacon, or chorizo, huevos rancheros, and much more. I was there for lunch and saw they have quite a few typical Mexican fare such as carne guisada, bistek ranchero, chile rellenos, steak, and many antojitos. They also offer soups like caldo Tlalpeño, and salads. I got the chile relleno with both meat and cheese. It came with rice, beans, a small salad (no salad dressing), and my choice of freshly made corn or flour tortillas. I really enjoyed my meal.

While we were dining, we were able to talk with no problem despite the background music being a tad louder than I would have preferred. Then a mariachi group came in and sang a couple of songs.

I think I found a new personal favorite. Mi Chula checks all the boxes: ambience, great service, delicious food, and good prices. I highly recommend them.“

“As soon as you walk into the restaurant you are greeted by the stuff. Our waiter was very nice and helpful she checked up on us a lot and made sure we were always refilled on our drinks. The only reason I gave the food four stars was because we did get the fajita plate for two, and it did have a little bit of an old taste, but other than that, the food was amazing. We did complain to the manager, and he took our critiques amazingly well and he did say they valued people‘s opinions so they can better their service/food and it’s honestly rare to see that here in the valley.“

“My wife and I ate here for the first time today and everything was delicious! Pepperoni pizza has great flavor and so did the tacos & the Tortas. They have some of the best prices I've seen in the RGV in a long time. Very affordable. Great customer service. We highly recommend.“

“I saw a post on Facebook about your restaurant and decided to try it out. I brought 2 Mexican burgers and cowboy plate, I have to say it was super delicious. I was surprised by the enchiladas, I am usually disappointed by other restaurants but these enchiladas were super delicious. Customer service was awesome, I called like 4 times to place my whole order and was greeted everytime with a warm voice, patience and kindness. Will be ordering again in the near future.“

“Always looking for good lonches and these were absolutely delicious! This was my first time here and all the employees were great servers with great customer service going above and beyond to please their customers. I ordered lonches de carne asada and papa asada with carne, and fries and everything was delicious with lots of flavor and generous portions. The complimentary chips and salsa, the charro beans, and fideo were also delicious and if you didnt have enough, they offer you more. Will definitely be going back!“

“Breakfast tacos were good and big with homemade flour tortillas, the ladies were super nice and the torta ahogada was good too. It’s Not a restaurant but more like a taco truck with seating available. The old saying don’t judge a book by its cover so true here.“

“You order at food truck window and can wait in your car or they have a few tables underneath a roof. Food came out quick and tasted great. We shared a burrito because it's huge and stuffed. The red salsa has good flavor with a spice kick and the green is mild. They do have a restroom and outdoor sink to wash hands.“
