“If you’re looking for a Michelin style omakase in Dallas, this restaurant should be in your consideration. I stumbled upon this place on reddit and am glad I did.

The dinner consisted of 17 courses and was relatively interactive. Chef Jimmy did a great job at descriptions for each item and injected humor to diffuse the pretentiousness that can sometimes accompany fine dining.

You could truly see the chefs’ passion shine through while they prepared the dishes.

The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because, I wasn’t truly blown away. Simply having top-tier quality fish isn’t enough to set yourself apart anymore. I fully acknowledge this is easy for a reviewer like myself to say, yet difficult for establishments to follow through on.

“Kaiyo is one of my favorite spots in Dallas. Have been going several times a month since they opened, and it's always great. The chefs Will and Raymond are talented and do a great job of making you feel welcome. The sushi is fantastic. The restaurant has a great vibe too. I'm vegetarian, and theres several great vegetarian sushi options ( mushroom and eggplant sushi!). Also, they make great cocktails. Highly recommend

“I have been coming here since they opened. I usually do take out for the family. The fish is always fresh and the preparation is very consistent. My family’s preference is predominantly tuna, salmon, yellowtail, white tuna and fresh fish roles. I highly recommend In and Out Salmon, Angry Wife, Superman Burrito, Cry Baby and Candy Cane.“

“Wow, the breaded sushi is spectacular, I give it a Michelin star?. We liked it a lot. The place is small but very nice. Very good service, very clean and tidy. They have many dishes, soups, ramen, salads, etc.
The chocolate cheesecake is good because it is not cloying.
I will definitely return.

“The food is delicious. It’s our local sushi place now. The lunch time bento box is also a favorite. It gets expensive, but it’s always a good time. I do wish the music was different. It always strikes me as incongruous.

“First time here. Ordered takeout due to pandemic. Came on a Friday evening around 7:30pm. Ordered 4 rolls: rainbow roll, dragon roll, Greenville roll, & spicy tuna kiss roll. Presentation is nice. Fish quality is smooth, creamy, and does not have a frozen multiple times texture. Flavor is nice. Roll pieces are actually bite sized and -just- fit in your mouth. (I have a small mouth, so they may fit better in an average person’s mouth). Kind of disappointed with the minuscule amount of wasabi & ginger that came with each dish, but wasabi taste fresh & has adequate spice. Pickled ginger is quite sweet. Overall, everything was good. I’d recommend & I’d come back.“

“Great local sushi, maki, and INARI spot in Dallas! I had never tried inari before (imagine a sushi roll in a cooked tofu wrap). It was really good! Lots of fun to try creative new dishes, and they were great to share! We really enjoyed our meal and look forward to coming back again!

It’s all bar/ high table seating indoors. Outdoors they have a nice patio with good shade. The tables on the patio are typical height tables and there are also a few lounge chairs to sit in.

“We have to start off with the bad. The US Waygu buns were terrible. Absolutely no flavor or seasoning on the patty. Definitely regret ordering especially seeing how it was $6 a bun. Avoid this. The Agedashi Tofu was okay. I have had better, the flavor was just not hitting.

The sushi wasn’t amazing but it was still definitely good. Worth going. I enjoy my spicy scallops. My gf fav rolls were the mackerel and the eel roll. But the absolute best thing we order were the skewers. They were super flavorful and delicious!!! You have to order them. I would also like to add that they have a big menu with different varieties such as ramen, curry dishes, bento boxes and more! Will have to come back to try the other items.

Overall it was good but besides the bad things mentioned above another thing is that I felt the prices did not match the amount of food we received, for example the skewers. Price to food ratio was not proportionate. Maybe over charging a little. So really the true rating I would give is like a 3.7 starts out of 5.“
