“We had lunch today on the porch! LED off with Fried Oyster appetizer! Spicy Crunchy Trout with Broccoli and roasted potatoes and a really nice side salad. My wife had the Three Seafood Salad with Salmon and Shrimp. I know there was another seafood item but she can’t remember. But the waitress was so professional and in these days…she was so good! I wish we’d gotten the Fried Brie appetizer! A little hard to Locate back in behind the other shops but they were also fun! Very good bread as well!!!!“

“I was looking for a coffee place where I could get a gallon or two to take to a meeting. I was certainly referred to the right place when I was sent to Betty Lou Coffee! It was so delicious and everyone commented and wanted to know where I bought it. You can bet this is going to be a monthly stop when I go meet our group. I received great customer service and they also furnished the cups and other condiments. The young woman who waited on me made me feel like the only customer of the day. Betty Lou Coffee Company is located on Landa Street close to Das Rec and I plan to go by and pick up a cup whenever I am in that area of NB.“

“We had lunch yesterday ( Fathers Day ) at Root Cellar. Upon arrival we were told that it was about a 50 minute wait. I saw several open tables inside that needed to be cleaned off plus 3 open tables outside that needed to be cleaned but there was a 50 minute wait???? This was the first time visiting for my wife & I but not for our kids. The waiter came & took our drink order at which time I told him I wanted ice tea & I wanted my glass full of ice none of this 1/3 or 1/4 full. Well the waiter wasn't listening or paying attention I got a glass of ice tea with little ice. When he came back to refill my tea glass I reminded him that I wanted a full glass of ice, he began to lecture how a full glass of ice was going to water down my tea. Dude, don't lecture me, this old man been around the sun a few more times than you. The waiter took our order of food which turned out to be mostly sandwiches. The menu stated that each sandwich came with kettle chips & then there were sides that you could add if you wanted, I ordered a side mac & cheese to which I got a lecture from the waiter. When we got our food instead kettle chips we got kettle chip pieces, what was left in the bottom of the bag everyone else already the chips so we got the crushed chips from the bottom of the bag. Come on Root Cellar I think you can do better than that.“

“The Purple Pig was recommended to me, and I recommend this outstanding BBQ eatery enthusiastically. The best pulled pork BBQ I've eaten has been in Tennessee. Nothing to compare. We'd pick up frozen pulled pork in Tennessee and bring it back to Texas as a treat. Nothing to compare until our first visit to The Purple Pig in June. Meets and exceeds our high standards to perfection. Don't miss this delightful experience. There are many things that makes the pulled pork extraordinary. Quality. Pecan smoked, not common to Texas. Wonderful sides. Add to the excellence of the food is the service and the quaint, charming setting. Five stars.“

The girl with half blonde half brown hair was also very nice and brought my order out to me and made sure I was all good. Highly recommend this place. Everything we had was delicious and made to order. You can tell that love and care were put into everything we got, something I definitely appreciate. I had catfish and fries, it was perfect and definitely satisfied my craving that day. My husband had a Chicago dog and it looked amazing, he enjoyed it. One kid had a gyro and wow, it looked great. She wouldn't let me try it lol. The other kid had kid chicken tenders. They were not your typical frozen nuggets y'all, they were fresh fried chicken and she loved them (picky kid). We will be back. I can't wait to try everything else. Maybe next time I'll remember to get pictures but trust me, give them a visit.“
