“This restaurant is a food vendor at Sherwood forest faire. While their building maybe humble, they offer some culinary meals you would find at high end restaurants. For example the Viking fries with white cheese sauce and smoked salmon with capers, Is a must for any foodie. RICH 3 cheese white sauce over fries and topped with a smoked salmon. The staff clearly are proud of there food and great you warmly, knowing you will soon be fans. I will concede their fries now beat Bruhaha for the best of faire.”
“The owner was real nice. She waited on me hand and foot LOL. I wish I had taken a picture because them plates was worth $28 w/ chicken wings. I don't know if they clone their food but I haven't seen chicken wings that big for a long time. Ex jumbo shrimp, even the fish fillets were big. HUGE!!! Those plates were enough to feed three people OMG!!! I didn't realize they had onion rings They accident through one in my plate I wish I'd known because I would have got some onion rings instead of the fries. It would have been a five star, but the crust on the fish was too thick for me. All I ate was a filet and two shrimps and l was full. OMG!!! black people's food, ready to go to sleep. ????? Need some signs because the place is like on the backside of a gas station. I will go again...”
“We love Sherwood! We go every year. It is quite a bit smaller than TRF, and much more family friendly, making it a perfect fit for family groups with children. The activities are fun and the shows are enjoyable. Lots of vendors with beautiful handmade items, and good food, too. This year there were more people than previous years, so one caveat - get there early! Parking is a breeze right at opening. The later you arrive, the more trouble you'll have and the longer you will have to wait getting to the lot.”
“Thank you for the delicious chicken dinner last night!-Edit: This time I had the best lamb I think I've ever had. Absolutely incredible food comes from this small business, easily comparable to 5 star steakhouses downtown.”
“Best breakfast I've ever had! The grilled biscuits were heavenly. My husband got pancakes and offered me a few bites, and I don't even like pancakes, but the pancakes here were delicious! I loved the location and the experience.”
“A nice little oasis! The barista was very nice and helpful. I didn’t try the food, but the cold brew w/ caramel was very sweet but yummy! Can’t wait to come back when I’m in town again ☕️”
“Always crowded, popular taco truck on 290 in Elgin, TX. Open until noon or 1:00. Friendly and fast. Homemade large flour tortillas. Get with sausage or chorizo as bacon is fairly bland. Hot green sauce is H.O.T. Red sauce is a normal person’s hot. Neither are for wimps. Yum.”
“I have eaten at this place several times over the years and am always impressed. The atmosphere of the place is what I like to see at Mexican food establishments, the service has always been well above average, and I have tried many different dishes and have never been disappointed. The beef fajita enchiladas are my go to dish and they are great. I usually judge a Mexican food restaraunt by their chips and sauce and this one hits the mark.”
“I’ll never turn down a visit to this spot ! Food is great staff is friendly, the frozen drinks are great too! I’ve spoke with the owner a few times and he’s super friendly, and a NY native like myself. The only thing I wish they’d do is an actual website or even app to place orders. I don’t mind using google but it was a bit confusing with the verbiage used on the online menu ( until I got the hang of it). I hope this place continues to thrive even more than it has!”
“Such a great place to hang out with friend everyone that comes around is amazing and kind to you. Highly recommend if you want a place just to relax and be in good spirits.”
“They've truly mastered the art of crafting the best mouthwatering burgers in the world with fresh ingredients!!! The exceptional service is always provided here by the owners and employees, ensuring every customer leaves satisfied and happy. Cheers to Smash Daddies and may they continue to delight burger enthusiasts like us for many years to come! Thank you, Smash Daddies!!! See you soon!”
“Good country cooking. We had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra, and hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and crinkle fries. And a piece of Texas toast to go with them both. Fast friendly small town service.”
“My favorite taco spot in town I’ve become a regular and they pretty much know my order! such a friendly woman working the window makes you feel welcome. Always a pleasure with a wide variety of options”
“This place is just a bar. If you're looking to get out of the heat. Then stop on by. The staff is on point. The jukebox is loud. And drinks are ice cold. ???”
“Great spot and friendly people. My husband and I stopped in for a beer during a long day of exploring. The place is spacious and charming. The bartender was attentive and helpful. We will definitely stop by again.”
“There is something very special about the food here.We got there and were able to get a booth before the dinner rush set it. The mood is so intimate and relaxed it really lets you focus on enjoying the meal. Whole restaurant was spotlessly clean, it’s clear to see everything gets wiped down often and throughly.Service was fast, friendly, and orders were taken down perfectly the first time. Handled lots of to go orders and entrees still came out exceptionally fast. Each dish has a part of it that demonstrates great care. The pasta and filling on the lobster ravioli were good, and they were cooked with the upmost care, but the sauce stole the show. Creamy with a touch of acidity, and a savory buttery fish flavor that was a celebration of the dish. The pastry inside tiramisu was still crisp while the rest was firm and creamy.A surprising gem out here in Elgin Texas.”
“This is my go-to taco spot in Elgin! Late hours great service, delicious tacos! What’s not to love. And their fresh waters are delicious!! Check this place out!”
“Delicious food and awesome service!! ? the tortillas are hand made and the food tastes great, we had some crispy flautas, birria plate and asada tacos. It was a good amount of food and we enjoyed every bit of it! We’ll definitely come back ?”
“Had the chicken taco and barbacoa taco w/corn tortillas, and they were delicious!! Service was friendly and fast. Parking is easy in/ easy out with pull-through so easy for RVs.Parking: Pull through parking can accommodate RV with tow car”
“This is a food truck, not a stand-alone restaurant. They absolutely have the best grilled chicken! They only take cash and I'm not sure that anyone there speaks English.”
“Food is absolutely amazing. Well seasoned, flavorful. The fries were garlicky and herbs, hand cut. Some of the best fries I’ve had. Hot dog was huge and had awesome flavor (had to pick onions off for kiddos). Blue cheese burger was bomb, you definitely gotta like blue cheese. Can’t wait to try the other one. Only negative I have is wish the burger patty was bigger. Will definitely eat again. Owner was super helpful and also made my kids a plain grilled cheese instead of the one on the menu. It’s a new food truck. Definitely give them a try.”
“Loveeee this place, the food, the staff the cooks singing in the back yess!!!! Don't hesitate heading here everything we have ordered has been amazing expect to leave with a full belly and some leftovers huge portions worth the money.”
“This place has fantastic food and service. I have recently had dental surgery and can eat only soft foods. I was able to eat the rice and beans and tried two types of soup. The chicken soup was fabulous and the seafood soup was very good. I could not eat shrimp and asked for just fish and they gave me a lot of fish. Atmosphere is not a priority at this restaurant but food and service more than makes up for the lack of ambiance. Highly recommend!! ?”
“This is my favorite taco truck around! I used to go into Austin (which lets get real is crazy) for tacos. I haven’t been to Austin for any since they opened here! It’s always absolutely delicious! I definitely recommend the gator tacos if you’re up for something different. The tried and true tacos are amazing if you’re not up for something different.”
“Stopped by on my way to Austin. This place is AMAZING. Very authentic!!! Had a torta and the bolillo was so good, reminded me of the fresh bolillos I buy in Mexico when I visit :,) I wish I could go back but the drive from Dallas is too far :( Definitely recommend to anyone driving by on your way to Austin/College Station!!”
“The Healthy Spot is an awesome place to go when you are looking for a nice refreshment especially with this Texas heat lately. Their energy teas and meal replacement shakes are amazing and taste delish as well. There are many varieties to choose from. Swing by and talk with the owner Claudia. She is the sweetest down to earth person with positive energy and will love to guide you through her menu.”
“First time trying it and they were so good with the fries, forgot to ask for ranch it only came with ketchup and mayo. Definitely going back and trying a different flavor.”
“This is a hidden gem off of 21 and 290 was very great food and portion size for the price it was would have pics but I eat before the pics lol opps love music and friendly atmosphere would recommend to ”
“Just moved here to Elgin and have tried just about every Mexican food truck, restaurant and whoever, whatever place sells Mexican food and by far this is my favorite place! The breakfast tacos are excellent, good size, great flavor. But what I like the most is their menudo! Flavor is on point, not greasy, and they serve it with plenty of meat! I am there every Sunday to get my menudo! Go by and try it if you are a fan of menudo!”
“We've been back a few times and it just keeps getting better! They've added a kitchen, and a menu that includes a humongous cobb salad. And they've added a brewery called Yegua Creek, which offers glasses a beer, flights and growlers. They have many styles of beer, all brewed with excellence. The staff is always friendly. We always feel appreciated. We've seen a lot of musical acts here. The owner really knows music and is well connected. They have a three day music festival next month that we'll check out. This place is a real gem. Bring your dog (and a leash). Bring your friends. Bring your kids. Check it out :-)”
