“Easily one of my favorite spots in San Marcos
Balcón Comedor y Bar totally blew me away. The vibe is chill but stylish — great music, great energy, and the kind of place you could post up for hours with friends and a couple of margaritas.
We started with the carne asada fries and elote asado, and honestly… they might be the best I’ve had. The fries were loaded (in the best way) and the elote had the perfect balance of spice, lime, and cheese. Just unreal.
I went with the al pastor taco and the Cali Burrito — and wow. The burrito was massive, cheesy, and packed with carne asada and fries inside (basically everything you crave at once). The taco had just the right kick, with a sweet touch from the pineapple. You can tell they put real love into every dish.
What really made the night was Javier, the owner — he came by to check on us, and you could tell how much he cares about the food and the people. Super genuine guy, and that vibe trickles down to the whole staff.
If you’re in San Marcos and love modern Mexican food, this place is a must. Great drinks, amazing food, and a team that actually makes you feel welcome. Can’t wait to go back.

“We sat at the bar enjoying fabulous cocktails, fresh, crisp chips and chunky, delicious, homestyle salsa rojo. The subdued, well placed lighting, creates a welcoming and cozy ambiance. Bartenders and waitstaff are very professional and courteous. Later we ordered Tortilla Soup. The rich, savory broth was a delight, with tender chicken, a creamy base, and perfectly fried tortilla strips adding a satisfying crunch that balanced the smooth, rich flavors. This experience was a symphony of sights, and tastes, where a delicious, comforting bowl of soup felt like a special treat in an extraordinary setting. We are looking forward to returning here again to experience more food and cocktail options.“

“I have to say the restaurant was off the chain! The food was superb and extremely reasonable prices.. We need to give a shout out to our waitress Kiley who was Magnificent. She is definitely 5 star restaurant quality. We have been to very upscale restaurants and not had half of the amazing service she provided. When you go ask for Kiley!!“

“It’s over all a good place, the food is good and the people are nice however my biggest concern is they do not update the price of foods online to reflect the in house menu. For example the “super taco” used to be 4.99 and it still reflects that online however after the most recent visit there the price has gone up to 10 dollars with tax. Other than that a great place.“

But it was pretty pricey for the three of us , including 3 drinks we walked out paying $55.00 for are oder. We ordered 2 breakfast tacos
5 street tacos and 1 LG bean and cheese burrito with potatoes.. 2 Pepsi and 1 sweet tea. Drinks were 3.25 each including the refill ($15) I never thought about having to pay for a refill if there asking if we wanted one.SMH.I did enjoy the food .“

“SAD to say, this place has crossed over to the dark side. VERY very dissapointed!! Horrible food!! The food is not the same as it used to be. The cheese enchiladas are horrible, it had this watery yellow stuff all over it, NO chili gravy, NO enchilada sauce. The rice and beans were horrible - NO flavor, portion is ridiculously teeny tiny, beans were watery. NEVER GOING BACK! THIS IS THE 2ND TIME, 2ND LOCATION, FOR THIS UNNACCEPTABLE HORRIBLE FOOD.“

“Freshest tortillas and salsa, plenty of flavor, and HOT food. We stopped in for a fast early morning bite. I wish I lived close by, the food was so good. Another review mentions cash only, so I'll mention they accept cards. The chorizo bean breakfast taco is my recommendation!“

“The limonade was so good and refreshing. I got a mini tripa taco and a mini al pastor taco and they were so satisfying, I felt like I was visiting Mexico again. The charro beans had just the right amount of spice. Very good overall. My new favorite Mexican food place.“

“In town for service call, seen this place as I was heading to customer. So glad I stopped by and got me some of these delicious tacos. Carne Guisada was on point, chorizo n papas full of flavor and bacon, egg, and potatoes all good especially with the home made tortillas! Stop by when you come through here, you will be glad you did. Roberto gave great customer service as well..“

“Tamales are tasty and huge. Not too spicy, just a perfect kick. I share my food with co-workers and they said the tamales are the best they ever had. The owner is real nice and real attentive. She love what she do and you notice with the quality she delivers. I ordered 24 tamales, and next day i was forced to go back for more. The Raja Tamales are amazing!!One of my favorite spot for my Mexican Cravings!!No longer at location, they moved….“
