“I walked in to pick up my carry out. I was promptly greeted with a friendly hello. I got the pappardelle bolognese, my husband got the fettuccine Della casa both small, and split the arancini. Everything was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce had great flavor. My husband thought the flavors married well and liked the crispiness of the pancetta. We both liked the Arancini. It was crispy the outside and a good cheesy texture on the inside. My only little complaint is that the size of the small was a little too small, but we are both big eaters. “The aesthetic of this restaurant really feels like you stepped into a genuine Italian eatery. Though I do not drink wine, they had to well stocked wine fridges with a seemingly good collection.Service was really great seeing several different servers work in tandem to greet and serve the customers.The food selection is varied and has options for all types.One glaring thing I had to point out was the chicken wings. Perhaps it is an issue with the distributor but the wings (6 for $10) maybe weighed about a quarter pound. Each wing was tiny though well cooked. The basket they were served in had more of the breading on it than actual food. If it were not for the tiny tiny wings I would have scored it higher.Again great service and selection and atmosphere.“
“Poppy’s Pizza has been one of our faves for a long time! Serving up some the best pizza pie in San Antonio. The place reminds me of an old school pizzeria the way they should be. Simple and priced right. Not looking for frills just good dang pizza! The staff has always been courteous and accommodating. If you are looking for fast food this ain’t it. Good pizza takes time if it’s made fresh so expect a 20 minute wait, it’s well worth it.“

They don’t take reservations however they did tell us to call ahead so they could prepare a table for us. We got there and the table was ready. There were at least six other tables she was serving with at least three/four people3. Jay was also the only cashier4. Jay was also the only food runner5. Jay was also one of the bussersSo we totally understood. Even though Jay was the only one running the entire front of the house by herself, she stayed calm, nice and the most attentive as she could. The Bread Service was a delightful start, with each spread offering a unique experience, notably the Whipped Ricotta, which of the three options stole the spotlight. The Burrata, Beef Tartare, and Spinach Dumplings left me speechless, showcasing flavors unforeseen or tasted. Even though I initially scoffed at the idea of ordering Chicken Parmesan, Battalion proved me wrong with a rendition that surpassed all expectations.However, the true star was the Pepper Crusted Drunken Pork Chop, a dish seemingly unconventional for Italian cuisine (right? “We came here for the first time on a random Saturday night, it is kind of small but super cozy. Enough room for about 15 tables or so. They do have reservations quite a lot, assuming it is Valentine's Day weekend - so I would reserve a table for the weekends anyways. It was great service by the staff, dim enough but not too dark, and not loud at all. They do have outdoor seating available as well and I thought it was super cute. We ordered chicken Parmesan and a primavera pasta. Complimentary bread rolls were SO FRESH I regret not taking a picture and the pictures taken of the food don't even compare to the taste. It is so authentic and not your regular Olive Garden, it was so flavorful and I'm a picky Italian food eater! The pastas were devoured and so perfect, along with the tiramisu! Props to the chefs and waiters, 10/10! I will be coming again!!“

The server was very attentive and very happy to see us, well at least i felt that way. Then well, we got our food, eggplant parm and pizza!!! My pizza came out in my opinion very very good. The chef on the other hand didnt like what he sent out but probably didnt want us waiting longer, not that we were waiting long at all. He sent out another pizza and apologized for the "burnt" pizza, which it wasnt. Well i did accept the pizza cause the first one delicious and they insisted. So i was more than happy with eveything and definitely gonna get back in going there regularly even though I don't live close anymore.“

They are also one of the few places I found that has Pepsi Zero at the fountain. The staff was so friendly too! My only criticism is that the crust is a little bland, but the char from the oven helps with that.“

Then we split the chicken wings which are a nice size. At our servers suggestion, we mixed the lemon pepper with buffalo for the sauce which was salty but excellent, perfect heat level for me. Next we split the tuna ceviche which was just ok for me, not enough pico on it. I wouldn't order again as it was bland imo.
