Having been spoiled by Europe's coffee scene after being over there for a few years, this is closest I've come to that style of artisan coffee drinks and beans for sale. Highly recommend!“

“I’m not one to leave reviews, small baby and little time! But this coffee shop necessitated looking up how to leave a review. It’s THAT good. Service was exceptional and welcoming. My husband loved the cinnamon and honey latte! My in laws both love coffee and very much so enjoyed their drinks as well. The kind barista made sure my mother in love had the perfect amount of cream to how she likes it. I love chai lattes and try them everywhere I go and this was probably top 2 if not #1 chai I’ve ever had (and I’ve probably tried over 100 different chais!) Might just make the trip back to Charlottesville just for this!“

“A HIDDEN GEM
We came to celebrate Galentine’s Day at Bar Tomas with a group of six, and the second you walk in it feels like you’ve stepped into a little European neighborhood restaurant. Warm, cozy, familiar… like a place locals go to. The food is outstanding and so authentic.

The plates are entrée size, but we decided to share everything so we could try it all, kind of our own tapas style situation. Every dish was amazing. The apple, lettuce, and nuts salad was big, crunchy, and super fresh. The garlic gambas were so flavorful served in a delicious broth. The calamari were incredibly tender and came with this creamy garlic sauce we kept dipping into. The artichokes were tender and savory. And the mushroom risotto was bursting with mushroom flavor.

Tomas makes his own bread too, and it’s this delicious crusty loaf that tastes like it came straight from a small European bakery. Such a special touch.

Even after the rest of the restaurant had emptied out, they told us to stay as long as we wanted, which made the whole night feel relaxed and easy.

It really is a hidden gem, a little European corner in Charlottesville, warm and authentic. I’ll definitely be back!“

“When you're walking up to a coffee shop and people are outside having happy conversations on the patio, you know you've found the right spot. C'ville Coffee is where all the locals come, and if that doesn't make you want to go, then you probably don't like good coffee.“

“Stopped here for a bathroom break and a coffee on our road trip. The coffee was good but selection was just your standard stuff. I like some fun flavors or options (note they had syrups but left it to you to come up with the combinations). Blackboard walls with chalk was a cool touch. Also bathroom was not as nice as I had hoped, definitely better than your typical gas station. Staff was pretty friendly. Pretty good overall, but was lacking something which is why I didn't give it 5 stars.“

“I never get food but the drinks are always really good! I love coming here on the weekends to study. It never gets too crowded and there’s a ton of seating. The only time it may get a little tough is when the extra space is closed off for privare events.

Note: They use Grit coffee beans for all their drinks (which is great).“

“Today one day post the snowstorm grit is open when everything else is shut down (apart from Virginian). Needless to say its swamped with people, playing viby music and putting coffee smiles on people's faces.

On other days, find the notebook of messages on the first floor. If nothing else that will be your company for coffee. Especially recommend reading it by the table that gets direct sunlight in the afternoon. Or the window where you can see the train pass for what feels like an eternity.“

“This is my 2nd visit to Camellia’s, and I am hooked. Their coffee is VERY good. I basically want to guzzle my latte. Their baristas and cashiers are super nice. Their pastry selection is insane. I’ve now tried three different pastries (no, I didn’t get two although I wanted to. I tried a piece of my friend’s lol), and all were delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, and they have lots of different searing options. You can sit at tables, in armchairs, on couches etc. This is now my new favorite coffee shop, and I spend a lot of time in coffee shops - so they’re about to get to know me really well!“

“I was in the hospital for a month with broken water and once I had my daughter she was in the NICU for a month. This place was my saving grace everyday. Being stuck at the hospital for 2 months felt unbearable but this was such a nice thing to have especially the month I was there with broken water and couldn’t leave at all. The people working are super friendly and would even ask about me and my baby. I tried I think every drink on the menu and all were delicious. I got to the point I would just say to surprise me and could trust they could make something delicious. The one lady also remembered every time I could only drink decaf which was so nice when I know they see at least 100 faces a day. My favorite drinks were the almond joy and mounds, made as iced breves. Even now when we go for appointments I still stop by to get a coffee.“

“They know me by name here and never get my order wrong. The staff works hard so I make sure I add a tip on my mobile app or tip in cash.

Parking: Be careful in the parking lot and the drive-through. People drive through there too fast. There is enough parking but sometimes it can get full and it's a small area.“

“I had a reservation as part of a group for my mom’s 60th birthday. Unfortunately, the morning of the celebration, I tested positive for Covid 🙁 the reservation I made was nonrefundable, but I figured I would call anyway to see if we could get some money back. The woman I spoke with was very nice and said she’d pass my name along to her supervisor who would get back to me. I didn’t hear anything for a couple of days and was going to follow up once I felt better, and then I got a notification that they gave us a full refund! So easy, which I was so grateful for, considering how I was feeling. So, unfortunately I never got the opportunity to actually stay at the hotel, but my experience with them was great and I will absolutely book a room there the next time I need to stay in Charlottesville!“

“The food is great, the coffee is great. Location is great. Many of the workers there are great, but there's a few who will just openly ignore customers, they will just walk right by you and not even acknowledge your existence, or they will have personal conversations with others right in front of you while ignoring you. Also, like with most Starbucks, the music is way too loud, it is annoying. I wish they would play classical music or something softer. Otherwise, good place.“

“I cannot speak for the food, but the coffee is some of the best I’ve had in America. My husband ordered a macchiato and I grabbed a vanilla iced coffee - two things that can be easily messed up. The iced coffee was perfection. The vanilla tasted real, was not overly sweet, and complemented the coffee perfectly. The coffee wasn’t overly acidic and had been brewed well - it wasn’t burnt tasting like many local roasters. The vibes were chill, there’s a ton of space to hang around, and the staff were delightful!“
