And then, the cherry on top: we ordered two more cups to take home to the rest of the family and we noticed that one came out with a much smaller scoop than the other. Wasn’t going to say anything about it (the scoops are very generous to begin with), but then out of nowhere a couple comes over and tells us they are going to get us an extra scoop. And within seconds, they did! We were too shocked to talk with them more but a little sleuthing online when we got home revealed they were the owners! “I know for the same price I can get my own pint of Haagen Dazs. But it’s one of the few treats I really let myself indulge in. I come here after a big accomplishment at work or need a pick-me-up. I get the chocolate cone with sprinkled peanuts and two scoops of coffee ice-cream - and it’s the best. Nothing hits the spot quite like it. Staff are super friendly. I ordered a three-flavor cup and chose Black and White Cookie Batter, Dark Chocolate Fudge, and Dulce de Leche Chip. Each flavor was delightful! The restaurant was quite busy, which was a good sign considering its prime location near shopping stores and not far from Chinatown. There was plenty of seating available for customers to sit and savor their treats or coffee. Despite the crowd, the cashiers did an excellent job attending to everyone and even offered samples.“

Some are hit-or-miss depending on your taste, but when they hit, they hit hard.

The presentation is also on point. The pink box feels premium, and the cookies look like they came straight out of a bakery photoshoot. They’re rich, thick, and shareable (though you might not want to share).

Only downside? They’re not cheap, and they’re definitely not “health food,” but for a treat, they’re worth every bite.

“From a frozen custard purist(snob) this place is in the top two in the nation for pure vanilla custard taste and consistency. I say this as someone who visits custard shops all over the United States. We live in our motorhome and travel the country. Every place we go we look for custard places. “This is the classic RTC spot. A go-to for afterschool treats every year starting second grade. The cardamom flavor rocks… There’s almost no reason to go to RTC anymore post-covid and paid parking, but Pitango has stuck around, outlasting Red Velvet, Busara, Big Bowl, Mon Ami Gabi, and even Clyde’s… once it closes I may never return. It’s criminal what Boston Properties has done to Reston Town Center, which for me was more than the center of Reston, it was the center of the world, nay, the universe.
