“Four of us attended early dinner on a Sunday afternoon at the Mt. Vernon Inn. Three of us ordered medium rare filet mignon while the 4th ordered shrimp and grits. The beef was perfectly cooked and very tender-the shrimp and grits were amazing!“

“The Sea Bass was a total suprise. More often than not I am dissapointed when I order fish. Not the case here. The presentation was superb. The blend of flavors, textures and colors was an epicurean delight. Our waiter/bartender Damany was thoughtful, always on point without being intrusive. “keep in mind that the lobster roll is a warm butter, connecticut style roll which was SUPER disappointing when I had the expectations set that it would be a nice cold roll with some warm butter drizzled or added to the side.

oysters were delicious and flavorful, but pretty small in size. menu was pretty pricy for the amount of food given. I will say, although I was disappointed in the lobster roll, the amount of lobster that they give was very satisfying- they pack the roll with a ton of meat.

“This was my first time and I went with a friend of mine visiting from Philly. We went for brunch or early lunch. The food was great and the staff were friendly. Food arrived fast and tasted absolutely delicious. I had the seared shrimp tacos, moist and tasty-yum, my friend had the market fish sandwich for that day, he absolutely loved it and he doesn't usually eat fish lol.“

“What an experience! I came from Alabama on a work trip. My fellow employees and I were trying to find a seafood restaurant and stumbled upon this restaurant on a Wednesday. And boy did we hit the jackpot! The food was amazing first off. Second off, we had been wanting to do karaoke and there was a DJ! “I went to Hen Quarter Prime for Brunch on a Sunday and the food at the buffet was great, the only thing I wish was the crab legs were steamed instead of being on ice. “So, I love me some fish! I was craving fish today and decided to give Seafood Shanty a visit since I was in the area. I had not been in quite some time, so I was not sure what to expect. Guys, I am horrible with taking pictures, but the fish smelled so delightful I had to try a piece while driving 😉. I was quite satisfied that the fish (trout) was very fresh, not overly seasoned or salty, and very delicious. I ordered the shrimp and fish platter for $15.99, which included 3 pieces of decent size filets, I believe it has 5 or 6 pieces of medium-sized shrimp, fries, and coleslaw. The fries were good, and the coleslaw was just okay. The customer service was friendly, and my food was served with smiles and thank yous. Needles to say I will be back for fish Friday and will take pictures!“

“Love this place! Dinner is always 10/10 but service, we had Alena or elena and she was just the sweetest young lady and she knows was shes doing, and she was honest too with her recommendations! We always have a tuna and oysters! Then steak this time we shared the cowboy ribeye and added scallops which by the way is not on the menu but elena said they could do it and it was delicious!! 5 star service“

“Overall the food was good. My partner and I both ordered the Connecticut Roll. The bun was melt in your mouth good. Honestly the best warm buttery bun I've ever had. However the lobster it's was bland. No salt whatsoever. They need to invest in Old Bay and use it. Season your food. I thought the tater tots didn't have salt, but once I got to the bottom I seen the salt, but the tots were also bland and burnt. I'd go back, but please season the lobster with Old Bay 😫 and all salt to the tots.“

The fried and grilled oysters were perfection and the raw oysters were fresh and DELISH! We stick to appetizers on this visit, after the oyster feast we moved on to the peel and eat shrimp, perfectly cooked and seasoned with Old Bay and the Mussels in the spicy broth! Do yourself a favor and get extra bread to dip in the broth, you won’t be sorry! We didn’t have them on this visit, but one of the must try’s in my opinion is the Lobster Poutine! AMAZING! The amount of lobster in this dish at the price point of under $20 is OUTRAGEOUS in the very best sense of the word! The whiskey offerings at this establishment are some of the best that I have seen. I literally discovered one of very favorite bourbons here, Jefferson’s Ocean! The selections range from your basic line up, interesting new finds and hard to get must try’s. The man behind this whiskey magic is Edward, the bartender/manager. Edward is knowledgeable and loves to talk about his offerings, so don’t be shy, ask questions and be prepared to learn a little something! We have enjoyed everything from their brunch offerings, seafood and burgers! Wine to whiskey and everything in between and have never been disappointed! We recently moved, and now have to brave 45 minutes of Beltway traffic (and that’s on a good day as we all know..lol) to get to this spot. So if you good food, attentive service and an amazing selection of whiskey are your thing, trust me when I tell you this is the place for you!“
