“We have dined at the restaurant several times over the years. Before our experience this visit, I had read some negative reviews regarding service, food quality and cleanliness. I have to say that we found everything wonderful. We had reservations but arrived much earlier than expected to the restaurant. The Hostess was very accommodating and found an open table right away in the room with the Bar. (I would have enjoyed a table in one of the dining rooms better, which might have been the case had we stuck with our original reservation but we couldn't be picky since the Hostess was kind enough to provide us with an earlier lunch !) The food was delicious, served in a prompt time. Our waiter, Zach, was attentive and very pleasant. Even the servers who brought the food from the kitchen to our table were so nice ! My message in this review is "don't base your possible experience on the negative reviews" !!!“

“My friends and I went here. I am usually not a person who goes out for seafood boil, but this place changed the trajectory of my life! The owners are so lovely, and they took such great care of my friends and me. The food was so delicious, I have never had such fresh crawfishes before. Pricing for portions and quality was very valid. The quality of the food was amazing, and when I spoke to the very kind owners they told me they make every batch fresh and that their seasonings are all made from scratch. This has definitely become my go to place for seafood boils, I am literally addicted!!! Please give them a try, food and service is superb.“

The moment I got there I was greeted by the most friendliest staff I’ve experienced in a long time. My server was a young lady by the name of Betty. She was very knowledgeable and very polite. I ordered the fish sandwich and Chowder. They were both great. I will recommend this place to my friends and associates .“

“What an experience! I came from Alabama on a work trip. My fellow employees and I were trying to find a seafood restaurant and stumbled upon this restaurant on a Wednesday. And boy did we hit the jackpot! The food was amazing first off. Second off, we had been wanting to do karaoke and there was a DJ! We sang at the table while we were eating and had such an amazing time. The atmosphere is phenomenal! This was our first time visiting Old Town Alexandria, and while we originally had another restaurant in mind, Vola’s won us over with its waterfront location and inviting menu. We were told the wait would be 25 minutes, but we were seated in just 15, already a great start. The staff was warm, friendly, and helpful with recommendations throughout the meal, making us feel right at home.

Taste:
We started with the crab hush puppies and oysters, both were so flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and reasonably priced. For our main course, we had the shrimp and grits and the fish and chips. Both dishes were fresh, satisfying, and generously portioned. Every bite was devoured. The drink of the night was a summer Prosecco and passion fruit special, light, refreshing, and delicious. The best part? The refill was cheaper. More restaurants should definitely take notes on that.

Ambiance:
Vola’s has the perfect laid-back yet elevated waterfront vibe. The view of the water, paired with a lively but not overwhelming crowd, made for a relaxed and memorable evening. It’s great for first-timers to Old Town, date nights, or a dinner out with friends.

However the lobster it's was bland. No salt whatsoever. They need to invest in Old Bay and use it. Season your food. I thought the tater tots didn't have salt, but once I got to the bottom I seen the salt, but the tots were also bland and burnt. I'd go back, but please season the lobster with Old Bay 😫 and all salt to the tots.“

“DELICIOUS that's what you need to know first. We just happened to dine while the live music was happening & it was insanely loud. I'm assuming on evenings when live music isn't happening is much more intimate. That being said, the band “Too Much Talent” was very good! The restaurant is beautiful & very comfortable with elegant decor. We had a reservation. Because of the loud music we asked to be seated as far away as possible so we could still talk without shouting. It took a few minutes mutes to be seated but the hostess did her best to seat us so we'd have a little quieter space. We waited several minutes for our server to greet us. She was very friendly & apologetic about the wait. We got the impression the were short staffed. We weren't in any hurry so we were okay with waiting. We ordered the half chicken dinner with collards & loaded baked potato. We also ordered the skillet cornbread. Everything we ate was sublimely delicious. Very generous portions & cooked to perfection. We shared everything & still walked out with full bellies & a second meal for later. Our only complaint was not getting our waters refilled but the server was so busy we didn't want to bother her. Otherwise was a fantastic dinner date. Staff is very friendly. I'm shocked it wasn't packed. Very good restaurant!“

The fried and grilled oysters were perfection and the raw oysters were fresh and DELISH! We stick to appetizers on this visit, after the oyster feast we moved on to the peel and eat shrimp, perfectly cooked and seasoned with Old Bay and the Mussels in the spicy broth! Do yourself a favor and get extra bread to dip in the broth, you won’t be sorry! We didn’t have them on this visit, but one of the must try’s in my opinion is the Lobster Poutine! AMAZING! The amount of lobster in this dish at the price point of under $20 is OUTRAGEOUS in the very best sense of the word! The whiskey offerings at this establishment are some of the best that I have seen. I literally discovered one of very favorite bourbons here, Jefferson’s Ocean! The selections range from your basic line up, interesting new finds and hard to get must try’s. The man behind this whiskey magic is Edward, the bartender/manager. Edward is knowledgeable and loves to talk about his offerings, so don’t be shy, ask questions and be prepared to learn a little something! We have enjoyed everything from their brunch offerings, seafood and burgers! Wine to whiskey and everything in between and have never been disappointed! We recently moved, and now have to brave 45 minutes of Beltway traffic (and that’s on a good day as we all know..lol) to get to this spot. So if you good food, attentive service and an amazing selection of whiskey are your thing, trust me when I tell you this is the place for you!“

The owners were so nice that they gave me extra because it was my first time and because it was a misunderstanding that I had of the menu. The customer service was superb. The sides were awesome. I got mac & cheese and yams. They were really good. Also, the fish was fried very well. Will definitely come again and recommend to friends. Also, they have really really good smelling oils by the way that they sell.“
