“Review of Father and Son Seafood, Lorton:Title: "A Culinary Treasure in Lorton – Father and Son Seafood"From the moment I stepped into Father and Son Seafood in Lorton, I knew I was in for a special dining experience. This family-owned gem combines the warmth of a neighborhood eatery with the sophistication of fine dining, striking a perfect balance that appeals to a broad range of seafood enthusiasts. The star of the menu, and my personal favorite, is their Clam Strip Platter with Hush Puppies. Each clam strip is cooked to perfection – golden, crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy within. The balance of flavors is remarkable, capturing the essence of the sea without overpowering the delicate taste of the clams. Accompanying these delightful strips are the hush puppies, a Southern classic done right. They are light, fluffy, and subtly seasoned, making them the perfect complement to the clam strips. What elevates the dining experience at Father and Son Seafood is the excellent service. The staff exudes a kind of friendliness and professionalism that's increasingly rare. They are knowledgeable about the menu, attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely seem to take pride in ensuring every guest has a memorable experience. The ambiance of the restaurant contributes to its charm. It's cozy and inviting, with nautical decor that's tasteful and understated. Whether you're there for a casual lunch or a special dinner, the setting is just right. In conclusion, Father and Son Seafood is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary destination. The Clam Strip Platter with Hush Puppies is a must-try, and the overall excellence of food and service makes it a standout in the Lorton area. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is well worth a visit.“
“Wow! Stopping here on our way north was an excellent choice. I've never been here before.America's Best Wings has over thirty different flavors to put on your wings. We did teriyaki. My friend and I ordered Philly Cheesesteaks, which were about $10 apiece. They were cooked well and the food was bursting with mouth-watering flavors. I enjoyed it.I talked with the cashier while waiting for the food, and he was pleasant! Good atmosphere.“
“A decent Tex-Mex location, but there are definitely better in the area. Food quality was average overall, though nothing stood out as particularly memorable. Service was prompt and there were plenty of seats. We came for lunch without a reservation and had no issues getting seated right away.Dietary restrictions: Menu was not clearly marked for dietary restrictions or common allergens.Parking: Parking was somewhat limited. There is a lot behind the restaurant, but it is a bit of a walk.“
“Excellent food...Seriously, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Its also a rather large restaurant with multiple floors. Even though its large, they make it homey. Each area has a different feng shui, so go multiple times to experience the vibes.“
“I enjoy eating at Bonefish. I usually go about 1-2 times a week with a friend. We always ask for Chaz for our server. He pays attention to detail and remembers what we like without asking. The new manager, Mollie, seems very nice and aims to please all customers.“
“Hasib was amazing! He truly explained everything on the menu with such passion and was incredibly informative. He really made our experience and we will certainly be back. Hasib, thank you for pushing us to try different courses and drinks, and sharing your wealth of knowledge with us!Dietary restrictions: Completely accommodates any allergies and even asks at the beginning of the meal.“
“My husband and I went to Firebirds In Woodbridge this past Sunday March 24. It was our first time at this restauran. Well what a surprise, the service was amazin. We were seated within 5 minute. Our server Cyd was promptly at our table with hot rolls and took our order. when asked about certain items on the menu Cyd was helpful and knowledgeble about the menu. He never hovered but was always present when needed. He was the perfect server. we will return again soon. I must add also the food was delicious and lots of it. Thank you Firebirds for providing a delightful Sunday outing. Tom and Mary“
“I had a great time at Burton’s Grill (Alexandria) yesterday (9/30/23). The food was amazing, the drinks were good and strong. The staff was awesome. The GM came and introduced himself to us. The chef came out and talked to us about our food allergies. Our server “T” was as so amazing. She went above and beyond. I really enjoyed myself and I will be back.“
“I will open with this; GW would be PROUD. The Mount Vernon Restaurant, compared to the thought of what it might be, is nothing short of a quaint and elegant establishment. For a restaurant embedded in a museum one would imagine the many grab and go or poor service options found in many if not all of the DC attractions nearby, but rest assured this is not that. The prices are affordable. The food is delicious. The service is wonderful. My only complaint? I was not expecting the shear amount of food coming my way. The chicken and waffles were simple and astounding. My partner's shrimp and grits were, in her words, "just like ma momma used to whip up!" The cornbread appetizer was fresh. Our drinks, neat and clean. The list goes on. I should also add that the menu was overwhelming... in a great way. I could hardly contain my giddiness when attempting to make my choice. If you are exploring the beauty of Mount Vernon with family or friends, or even on your lonesome, you have NO excuse to bypass this overachieving establishment.“
“The Tandoori Chicken at Mumbai Darbar is a true culinary gem! The chicken is juicy and flavorful, with just the right amount of char from the tandoor. It's served with fresh mint chutney and onions, adding a refreshing contrast to the bold flavors. Definitely one of the best I've ever tasted!“
“The menu at The zemeda offers a delightful fusion of flavors. Each dish is beautifully presented, showcasing fresh ingredients and attention to detail. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian Ethiopian food there's something for everyone.“
“Words cannot express how happy we are that we discovered this hidden gem when we were simply looking on impulse for an Indian restaurant after a long day. The name seemed familiar from one we had eaten at in Falls Church that was a favorite of ours. And we were pleasantly surprised that they are owned by the same people. The staff here were just as courteous, helpful and efficient making sure our drinks stay full, the plates were cleared away and coming to check on how everything was. The whole experience from the presentation of the food, the portions, the quality of the ingredients, how well it was seasoned and cooked and the pricing for what you get which is a lot was right on mark in every way. We could taste the effort and love that goes into their cooking and how much they take pride in what they do. I think the food is just a bit better seasoned than their other location too. Everything tasted amazing and had our taste buds singing. We could not have asked for a better experience both times we were there for lunch and dinner and we feel most welcomed when we are there. They are wonderful proof that good food traverses boundaries and cultures amd brings people together as also witnessed by the other happy diners there of various ethnicities. Definitely on our list of places to go to and another local business we plan to support very often.Vegetarian options: I personally enjoyed the vegetable pakora, plain saag and chana masala. The only thing that could be better would be a mixed vegetarian option on their main menu either as a entree or appetizer so I could explore more vegetarian dishes before committing to just one.Dietary restrictions: I enjoyed the facts that they were gluten free, nut free and dairy free options as there are times I'm unable to consume these if I'm having digestive issues.Parking: There are quite a few food places as well as a smaller Walmart so parking can be a little challenging though we had no problems finding spots.“
“My first crabs since moving here 2 months ago! I got a dozen of larges (great sizes!), they were a little light (early in the seaon) but great seasoning, very fresh and everything pulled out nicely!! Will definitely be back. Only place that is open on Fridays!“
“Kilroys is a family restaurant that been here forever. It's casual and has an old-fashioned ambiance highlighted by heavy, dark, wood decor and hundreds of posters, photos, signs and magazine covers from decades ago, back to the 30s or 40s. The food is of good, but not great, quality. No connoisseurs here. Despite finding a sign at the entryway they they were short-staffed, our server was prompt, polite, and helpful. Unfortunately the appetizer we ordered , Crispy Fried Calamari, arrived late, barely warm, and soggy. We complained and the server gracefully removed it both from our presence and the bill. Everything else was delicious. Prices are reasonable ($50 - 70 for 2 without alcoholic drinks)“
“Just ordered their house special pho from uber eats along with their fresh (non-fried) summer rolls. Their pho is one of the best bowls of pho I've had in a long time. They were generous with their portions and the flavor of the soup tells me they use actual bone instead of using just a bullion cube for the soup base. Their spring rolls were incredibly fresh and their sauce was on point. I would have taken a photo, but I ate it all too fast.“
“OMG!! This place was amazing! We did the restaurant week & I got eggplant Bechemel, the Spicy Scallops & shrimp over Linguine pasta was amazing!! Best scallops I have eaten in a long time.. Dessert was supurb too! We each got a chocolate mousse, tiramisu & cheescake. All was amazing! Staff was supurb! Will be back soon!?“
“We just had another office lunch at Giardino to celebrate the retirement of a colleague. The restaurant does a fabulous job of handling large parties. They made special menus and customized the set up perfectly for our needs. The servers are of the highest professional demeanor. They were in sync with the flow of our event, patient with our chaotic social mixing, and totally non-disruptive as they served and bussed around our crowd of 40+ people. And the food is so tasty! Everyone raved about the lasagna, chicken marsala, fettucine alfredo, cannoli, and the bread--YUM. All for a very fair price.“
“MFLR in Shirlington didn't disappoint. Had the CT style (warm) lobster roll with side of lobster bisque and both were awesome. I asked them to separate the lobster from the bread for my walk home and they happily obliged. Considering the buttery meatiness of the lobster, separating is the only way to go - or your roll is going to be DOA. Ponied up a few dollars for extra lump lobster in the bisque (because I'm a glutton) and it was plentiful, worth every penny.Highly recommend, try to avoid peak hours as they get busy because carry out and 3rd party are a significant portion of their business based on what I could see.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.“
“I was on my way back home with my family and we decided to have dinner at Victor's grill it was our first time I highly recommend ? if you are a Bolivian/argentina food lover it's really good the steaks is on point and perfectly cook on temperature we ask for. ? and the chimichuri was a ? if you are around backlick or Leesburg.. you should try out!“
“My husband brought me here for happy hour oysters! He did not disappoint and neither did Clyde's. We loved it so much that we came to happy hour the following week! Must try oysters: Jacks point - briny Pemaquid - briny but sweet at same time Standish shore - briny Thatch island - briny bitter First week we went we mistakenly did not sit at the bar so we weren't able to get the wine happy hour or other specials. This was annoying because the hostess did ask if we were coming for happy hour and we disclosed that we were planning to do happy hour. There are signs everywhere advertising for happy hour and of course in super small print, it states must be seated at the bar to avail those prices. Such a shame because we would have ordered more. We each got 2 glasses of wine each- myself white (Sauvignon blanc) and my husband red (Cabernet Sauvignon), bread basket, bowl of New England clam chowder, and 2 rounds of dozen oysters. When we got the bill, we realized our mistake.. The following week, we sat at the bar and the bartender was lovely! She put our orders in as soon as we sat down and informed that not all wines are on the happy hour menu but specific white: gruner veltliner and red: Malbec and our friend ordered beer. We also ordered buffalo wings with blue cheese and ranch, side of fries, and calamari. We finished everything- tasted so good! Their sauces are on point. We will definitely be returning to this spot!“
“Great location & value for fastfood fish & quality sides! Fried or grilled, eat-in or to-go, a simple sandwich for you or a hefty dinner combo to feed the family! Table service also?! You bet!!! ?????#HadHaddockSamwich ?Fries or hush puppies are your best bet as the side dishes, based on me/my wife’s past dalliances at another Skrimp location. Drinks pretty simple — some fountain offerings, and iced tea (sweetened or unsweetened). Tables are clean as are the restrooms. (Big issue for The Contessa!) ❤️Right now for less than a tenner, choose from a good freshly made fish sandwiches with one side and a refillable drink. Can’t beat that with a burger or sub sandwich! ?…and do tip these nice restaurant workers well, please! ? That extra buck & loose change will make little difference in your day, but will indeed bless them highly. {Yup… It’s a long haul slinging hash and pleasing old peeps like me!} ✌️???“
“This place opened in our neighborhood a while ago and has gone through several iterations, but I feel it has finally hit its stride. We came here early on a busy Saturday, and they had a table available without a reservation. The food and service were impeccable. Our server, Nick, was fantastic. We'll definitely be back.“
“The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door. Food and drinks was very good! We shared the coconut shrimp and I had the jerk shrimp pineapple bowl that I requested extra spicy and it was so good! My daughter enjoyed her jerk chicken pineapple bowl. And we shared the Pineapple empanada which was delicious. Generous portions so we can enjoy the rest for lunch! Fun atmosphere with island music.“
“Today was my first time going to this crafty crab restaurant.and I don’t have one complaint the food was delicious and hot.the atmosphere was amazing, the employees were very polite, friendly, fast,it was clean, I was very happy and impressed now one thing drink wasn’t strong enough but it was good I will definitely be coming back the buffalo wings and onion rings was the best ones I ever tasteKid-friendliness: They were very nice and had coloring sheets and supplies to keep my 6 year old daughter happy I like how they asked her it’s she goodWheelchair accessibility: I lost my right leg exactly a year ago today so I have a prosthetic leg and I use my wheelchair also they the restaurant made it very suitable and easy to get around“
“Yo! this place needs to be everywhere! Seafood was banging. Spent more than desired but well worth it. The scallops on point shrimp home run! You can sit down and enjoy,I couldn't wait. Saw this spot on Google Maps saw the images I finally dashed. If you want good seafood they kill the game!“
“It's one of the better places for carry out Chinese food. I recommend it for the neighborhood we lived in, which is the Lincolnia part of Alexandria Their egg drop soup is the best I've ever tasted having visited most of not all Chinese restaurants in Alexandria. Their egg serving is much more their others!“
“Stopped by for a date with my husband. As soon as we walked in we were attentively welcomed and seated. The service was excellent and so was the food. I loved the variety on the menu and really liked that they are very allergy friendly! Our kids have food allergies so I will be coming back with them next time. Overall we had a great time!“
“I can say this place definitely does serve Hawai'ian-style poké, as I was in Hawai'i for two weeks prior to trying it out. Their fish is fresh and flavorful! Lots of choices to make your own poké bowl. They even serve the same style drinks as Hawai'ian pokè places, which gives it a more authentic feel. For me, I'd have loved for some Hawai'ian music to be playing on the radio to complete the mood! Either way, we will be back for sure. Check this place out the next time you're in town!“
“Mikayla was really sweet and willing to serve. We always hear kindness goes a long way, and it’s a true statement for those who don’t believe it. The food was really delicious. I tried to chicken Marsala minus mushrooms but I added garlic and it was tasty!! Thank you for allowing me to create a meal that was tasty and memorable. Hats off to the chef ?? .“
“we wanted to skip the crowds on lunar new years, and sampan cafe alexandria came highly recommended by my younger sibling. very uncomplicated good food, especially during a time where dim sum spots in va are declining or experiencing price inflation. this was probably the most affordable, and the quality was excellent -- almost everything was cooked perfectly. leftovers tasted super good in the air fryer too.“
“Great little diamond in the rough with a cool atmosphere, great karaoke on Tuesdays, comedy, DJ, poker, darts, and other events on different nights. Plenty of screens to watch your favorite sports. Friendly staff, and just a cool place to hang out.“
“This is a favorite spot when we want to dine outside. The upstairs seating area is great. Between all of the dishes we've had I think the only one we weren't happy with was the fish sandwich. We haven't had the crab cake sandwich at a waiter's recommendation, which we appreciate staff that steer you toward a good meal. The cocktails it depends on what you like - ask the staff, they're honest and helpful. The downstairs bar always seems lively- different vibe but everyone always looks like they're having a blast.“
“Food was spectacular!! The veggie platter was nicely presented and plentiful. The meat platter was really good I especially loved the lamb even though I’m not typically a lamb person. They also have a lounge area with live music, hookah, and a glamorous bar to enjoy. If you are a fan of Ethiopian food or even if you haven’t tried it before, I highly recommend this new family-owned restaurant. PS: plenty of parking and outdoor seating once the weather warms up.“
“Was in the mood for seafood. Sunny's was suggested . And they did not disappoint. The catfish was tasty. The collard greens phenomenal, potato salad was amazing . 10/10 . This place deserves more recognition. And I only ate half my meal before feeling super full and I eat a lot.Exploding with flavors .Finger licking good.“
“First time customer. Ordered the following carryout lunch specials for myself and the kids.- General Tso's Chicken- Crispy Orange Chicken- Chicken with Broccoli- Sweet & Sour Pork- Pork Fried RiceThe gentleman behind the counter was nice and smiled when I entered. The prices were really reasonable and the portion size across the board was good. The kids and I enjoyed everything, especially the orange chicken and sweet and sour pork. We'll be sure to come back.“
“We have a go to Thai restaurant in Burke but I thought we'd look for another that might be better. This place was a pleasant surprise. Ordered vegetable soup, ginger fanatic, and pad Thai. The soup was just right. The veggies were crisp and soup was not loaded with sodium. The soup was enough for 2 people. The ginger fanatic with shrimp and brown rice was excellent The sauce was light so you could taste shrimp and crisp vegetables. Maybe they could add a little more broccoli. Ginger was the right amount. A little bite to the flavor. The pad Thai was light and not too heavy. Again, right amount of sauce. The serving size was enough for 2 people. Ordered on line and pickup was on time. Server was very pleasant There are a few tables but we took it home The menu was extensive so we will be back Thank you from the Flash!“
