Even the ambiance gave the whole restaurant an inviting atmosphere. Not only that, but the food was phenomenal itself. Their havuc (carrot dip) is incredibly addicting as well as the grilled red pepper dip. The meat was seasoned very well, giving my food amazing flavor. I typically don’t like chicken, but the chicken dish I got was absolutely phenomenal. The cocktails served not only tasted great but were aesthetically pleasing (and perfect for pictures). Before I left, I got the date soft serve ice cream and it eas absolutely delicious. There was a little salt sprinkled on, giving it a perfect balance of salty and sweet. “I have gone twice and both times have been amazing. There is a good variety of flavorful food to choose from. I love the chicken kabobs. They are so good and juicy. But my favorite is the rice. I'm not familiar with all the names but every type I've tried has been good. On top of the great food is the friendly and welcoming staff. This is some of the best kabob I've had in the area. And to have a buffet lunch is a dream come true.“

“This was a great place for lunch on a Saturday with my family! Generous portions, healthy and fresh food and my toddler ate really well from our plates. They do also have some kids items and a high chair. I loved the mezza platter and there was a lot of chicken with the Shawarma Greek Salad, which I wasn't expecting.

I ordered a mint and Turkish coffee to start with the intention of ordering lamb. When the sheep came, I was surprised in an interesting way by the presentation of the dish. The sheep is butter, soft, and cooked in the literal sense and looks exactly the same as it did in the menu, bones and all.“

“Meeting with my Greek contractor, James Kifonidis, at Image Kitchen & Bath, on the other side of Hunter Mill Road from SouvlakiBar, I mentioned how disappointed I am with them, describing my one and only visit. He recommended Plaka in Vienna. Following our meeting, I went there for lunch.

In contrast, Plaka is five star! Chicago Gyro immediately caught my eye on the menu, so I ordered it along with Humus, Spanakopita, and a Mythos Beer. Growing up in the seventies and having many dining experiences at the truly legendary landmark Greektown restaurant, The Parthenon, on Halstead Street in Chicago, I can verify that Plaka indeed is serving Chicago-style gyro.

Chicago-style gyros are characterized by a balance of savory, garlicky, and herby flavors, with a mix of textures from the thinly shaved, crispy outside of the vertically rotisserie-grilled lamb and beef mix, and a tender inside. Creamy tzatziki sauce—a yogurt-based sauce with cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, and dill—adds a cool, tangy, and creamy contrast to the savory, spiced meat. Fresh vegetables like tomatoes and onions, served wrapped in warm pita bread, complete the dish.

The two appetizer triangle-shaped spanakopita were flavor-balanced, featuring all fresh ingredients—spinach, the foundation ingredient, and feta—wrapped in thin flaky layers of phyllo brushed with olive oil.

The small, unassuming spot, seating only 24 guests, serves high-quality Greek fare made with care and pride, in my opinion and experience. I arrived at 2:30 PM last Thursday, and lucky for me, there was one seat available.“

“Came here with friends for lunch on a weekday and we sat outside… they have a nice side alley area with umbrellas and tables to enjoy on nice days. They also offer full service out there. The menu is the typical Mediterranean menu… Gyros, salads, other items.
Service was very friendly. The food was really good. Plating needed a little help though. The Greek salad had random white onions on top which really didn’t belong there. Otherwise, the grilled chicken on top was very flavorful and amazing!

Overall, it was a nice visit… Definitely would recommend.“
