I have never once had anything from their menu I didn't enjoy. The owner, Young, is such a kind and sweet individual. Always happy to greet everyone who comes through the door with a big smile and a warm welcome. Her son is also a great person. Carries the same energy, and they are always working very hard whether the order is big or small. I cannot recommend this place enough. “I’ve been coming to Sushi Omiya every 1–2 weeks for a long time, and the food is consistently good, the quality has always been there, and the staff is normally very friendly. I’ve honestly never had an issue until today.

I regularly special-order two salmon skin rolls and a salmon skin hand roll through their QR ordering system. Today I placed my usual order to table T6, got the confirmation, and even watched the order print out on the little receipt machine next to me. After 20 minutes, nothing arrived. So I ordered it again. Same confirmation, same receipt printing out. Another 20 minutes passed and still nothing.

During those 40 minutes, nobody stopped by the table to check on me, so eventually I gave up and decided to leave.

What disappointed me more than not getting the food was the response when I mentioned it on the way out. Instead of simply saying, “Sorry about that,” I was first asked if I was sure I had ordered it. Then I was told maybe the internet was down—even though I literally watched both orders print out and other customers were receiving their special orders. Finally, I was told that I should have let them know.

Well, I did let them know—twice, through the ordering system they provide. I don’t think a customer should have to leave their seat and track someone down because an order hasn’t arrived.

Mistakes happen. Maybe they were out of salmon skin, maybe the kitchen missed the tickets, or maybe something else happened. No big deal. But when something does go wrong, the first response should be an apology and an attempt to make it right—not finding different ways to suggest the customer did something wrong.

I’m still a regular customer and I’ll be back because this was definitely the exception, not the rule. The food has always been good and normally so is the service. My suggestion is simple: when you miss one, just own it and take care of your customer.

It’s happened on several different occasions over the past few months. Otherwise Great salads at lunch and the power bowls are really good!“

The front staff was incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful. They walked me through my choices, offered great feedback, and explained how the whole process worked, which made being a first-timer super easy.

The cook—who I think may have been the manager—was equally fantastic. Extremely friendly, offered some additional suggestions, and took the time to explain the rewards program and how to get the most out of it.

Excellent customer service all around, great first experience, and I’ll definitely be back.
