“I'm in shock at the 1 star comment below. I've been in there everyday for the past almost 2 weeks and never had anything once bad to say. Everything is perfect! The food is delicious, the coffee alone is the best anywhere around and the service is so unbelievably wonderful. They are extremely pleasant people and they are a pleasure to deal with. Always smiling and is always there to help. There is no smell whatsoever and it's a shame people leave bad reviews for a small breakfast place that goes above and beyond for their customers!“

“First time order for pick up and so glad I tried them. A friend picked up so I am not sure about parking, etc. The sushi was fresh and delicious. I ordered the tuna and yellow fin. The teriyaki short rib was cooked just right and generous portion. Crab Rangoon was very tasty and I could tell it was made to order. Great menu with lots of options and very easy to order online. Kind and accommodating service. Highly recommended!“

“I moved to Olympia in 2022 and began looking for good restaurants. After going to 4 Japanese I hit on Kamakura and have been returning there at least 1X/week. Great rolls, rice is perfectly executed, the Drunken Noodles with shrimp are AMAZING(every time). The staff is so kind and accommodating (makes me feel relaxed) The only thing I feel want for is more seaweed in the miso soup. This restaurant reflects everything with a touch of Japanese family tradition. The prices are fairly set and reflect the quality of food. So this is “my go to” Japanese place in Olympia“

“This place was amazing!!! First time my wife and I got it and they have gotten a customer for life, as long as our 2nd and continued visits are just as good.

Ordered over the phone, lady was patience and very friendly. I had some questions about fried rice b/c online I thought they had multiple fried rice options, so onion made it a bit confusing. She cleared that up and continued with the order!!

20 minutes later (I live 18 minutes away) I got greeted with a smile, she immediately guessed who I was (some people may have been upset about that, I very much appreciated it and thought it was funny xD) probably b/c of my last name.

When I got home food was still nice and hot, its was steamy, good portion, good taste, and good quality.

My ONLY constructive comment was sadly the General Tao.
For myself, for a new teriyaki spot to win me over, the General Tao typically needs to be up to my standard. This was not.

The flavor was okay, I’m sure for most people they probably would like it. I will say my best experience was a place that did sauce on the side, a bit spicier (or offered spicier if wanted) and left the chicken crispy and separated from the sauce so the customers adds it themselves once they are ACTUALLY ready to eat. If dining it, that makes sense, but 30 minutes later it’s soft, mushy, and kinda unappealing.

Will most definitely coming back with my wife to dine in and see how the service and quality of food is in house.

“Went there for a retirement party. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The space was big enough for 75 people and very clean. Would go back to try their wine tasting 5 tasting for $20. I usually don't drink white wines but I tired the Reisling to bring home for a friend. It wasn't overly sweet, I would buy it for myself too.“

“Came by for the first time today, and ordered the #05 (Steak & flank phò). Best Broth I've tasted in town!!! It's very flavorful and not at all watered down. The sizing of the bowl was a lot larger than I expected, having ordered the Regular Size bowl. Overall great food.“

My partner and I have food allergies (I have a gluten allergy and he has an allergy to gluten, eggs, and dairy) and not only did they go ABOVE AND BEYOND to let us know what was safe and what was not but even made my partner special rolls. “We had an office luncheon here. The staff was friendly and always upbeat. The food was not only fabulous but large portions. Even one’s food looked, smelled and tasted amazing. One of the best Bun Bo Xoa (Vietnamese noodle salads) that I have had in Washington State. Very clean establishment and restrooms. Their Pho broth had a deep complex flavor.

“I am really amazed by Happy Teriyaki - we grew up in Olympia / Lacey since the late 1970's and Happy Teriyaki is something I remember as being around forever and every after school drive home would smell the chicken grilling with teriyaki sauce miles away. The chicken teriyaki is GOOD still today, as good as I remember. This is really difficult to achieve as you know nothing is as good as you remember. Congrats to Happy Teriyaki!“

“Pho Tai is a great spot if you’re looking for good food and excellent service. The food is consistently tasty, and the staff is always friendly and attentive.
The space is a bit tight, but you can usually find a place to sit without much trouble. It’s a solid choice and definitely worth stopping by!“

“The protein (tuna) was good. I was a bit underwhelmed at the number of veggies available. While my bowl was good, and filling, they were out of cucumber and I like to include green onions. Maybe it's a regional way of making a poke bowl.“

“From mine n my roommates regular HT#3. Roommate likes the bigger menu and food but #3 is alot more relaxing. the remodel is nice but it seems to have cut least a 1/3 of seating guess you needed the added kitchen space 👍. I've been coming to this location since atleast 2013. when my family would come and get unlimited sushi for birthdays had a sake bomb aswell. today (04/25/21) I had the "Bad Girl" roll extremely yummy. also had the crab rangoons which were good aswell.“

“The staff is very friendly once n when they acknowledge you. Bout 15 min before I was addressed. Then I was pushed off to another employee who still has not acknowledged me. In fact im sitting in my car waiting for the food I ordered( once I figured it out) no help from employee I guess me asking for help was not a priority, 🤪 she did end up dropping 2 pizzas. KARMA!! Maybe? It sucked I did feel bad tht her work load doubled! It is great place“

“The food here is delicious and well worth the price. Had leftovers too. They are open 24/7 and everything else is closed before 11 pm. Will definitely go back and try something else. This is my go to food. Its a drive thru with an excellent choice of food.“
