“This is my favorite type of place. On the surface, it’s rough around the edges and has a very local feel to it. But once you walk through the door, you will find a fantastic place with interesting details and very good food. The person at front said they are having a terrible time finding good employees so they made the tough decision to have people seat and serve themselves in order to keep the restaurant going. We certainly didn’t mind and if anything, it enhanced the evening. We were all impressed with the quality of the food and I’d call Midtown Public House a must see place in Port Angeles. Don’t let the old and non descript exterior fool you. This is a great place to eat. There appears to be an attached bar that was pretty busy though we never went in since our parents were with us.Hope this place stays afloat. I think it’s great.Michael DelehantyCompass Real Estate“

“What a great place, that has had skiing videos on the main screen each time I have gone in! They have a nice selection of beers and I like the pricing levels that enable you have a short pour of something you want to try but dont want a full glass. They have brewing supplies, which is handy to have a beer and pick up some supplies. Great ambiance and easy and comfortable place to enjoy and hang with friends and talk.“

“Gateway should be your first night's stop if you find yourself in Port Angeles. With all the joys of the corner of the US, with nice patrons who would love your patience to play darts and/or pool. Popcorn for snackys, and a surprisingly good food menu from the the head chef, Michael Wave. You may feel like bars need to be over the top, but Gateway Tavern does a great job of reminding Port Angeles, if it's worked since 1936, keep it working.Christina is an outstandingly nice lady. In fact all the bartenders are great with their own charm, charisma, and regulars that come in to see them nightly! Thanks for all the great night Gateway! To many more!“

The New Moon Craft Tavern Bar & Grill • $
130 S Lincoln St, Port Angeles

“It was a Saturday, and the live music was great. It seemed like the bar was usually mostly full, one or two empty chairs though. It didn't feel crowded. The craft beer and drinks were great, a little something for everyone. Bathrooms were clean and bar tenders were great.“

Tuesday Steak Special

“Moved here to PA six months ago. Searched for a local bar I wanted to go to for drinks, food, sports, cool and interesting people to talk to. The bartenders are all attentive. There definitely is a “local” feel here, but that’s what I was looking for. It’s the ONLY bar I go to unless a friend desires another. I’d say I’m becoming a “regular” patron there. There’s a lot of interesting characters there and getting to know them has been fun.I’ve hung out long enough to hear the Karaoke a few times and there are some pretty good voices there.Pretty chill place and I’ve made it my go to. ??“

“Many places turned us away for dinner today. We stumbled on this place. It was a fun, chill atmosphere. Menu is small- typical bar food. I had the burger. The food took a while (about an hour), but I'd say above average. Friends stated wings were decent and the pulled pork was also above average. AND they have the good ranch- IYKYK. Also top notch music (hello pop punk 2000s). Staff was very nice too. This would be an awesome place to hang out for after dinner drinks if you're in the area!“

Barhop Brewing and Artisan Pizza Brewery • $$
124 W Railroad Ave, Port Angeles

“Stopped in here for lunch with my wife and had a great experience. We tried a 4 beer flight, the Bruschetta (delicious, bread appeared homemade) and the meat lovers pizza. Service was excellent, food was delicious and the atmosphere is authentic, not fancy, so if you need that go somewhere else but the place felt "real" if that makes sense. I hate the typical fake "crafted" hipster environments I come across in too many of these breweries in the west. Worth a visit!“

“Best restaurant water view in Port Angeles, especially on a clear day you can really enjoy the water, Canada, Coho ferry and Mt Baker. Service was fantastic here and they were busy. Tried two of the seasonal cocktails and they were good, festive and priced well. Clam chowder had good flavor but too thick. True cod fish and chips had good fish and large pieces, the breading was panko and they were too bready for my taste. Tarter sauce good, coleslaw not good, salad decent. Turkey cranberry grilled club sandwich was good. I would go back for cocktail specials and an appetizer and enjoy the view. I recommend this place if you are waiting for the Coho.“
