“The happy hour beverage options are fantastic, I had a delicious Old Fashioned for a steal! The tots are always the best and the chicken sandwich was so crispy and delicious. My only complaint is that there is no option for grilled chicken/protein to be added to the salads. The options are either fried chicken or fried shrimp. My wife ordered a salad to be calorie conscious but the only way to add protein was for it to be fried, which negates the point. Add grilled protein options and this would be a 5 start review!“

“Such a fun place to grab a craft cocktail and some pho. The drinks were very unique and the pho was surprisingly very good. We also tried the Tofu Dip and the spring rolls. The dip was delicious but very rich and the spring rolls were very fresh. We definitely ordered too much food but it was delicious and a fun experience.“

No food, but you can grab Carmelo's right around the corner and come back with it (and you should).“

The prices are the menu are set so that you don't really save any money by ordering a larger size, so order the size you think you can finish.

As of October 2025 there is also a food option on the right side of the store that is selling fried chicken.

When I arrived at Family Friend, I honestly wasn’t sure if we were in the right spot. This hidden treasure only reveals itself by a small neon sign — unassuming, but absolutely worth the find. Once inside, I felt an immediate sense of warmth and comfort.

There was no hostess at first, but we were seated quickly by Sharon, whose smile and energy could light up any room. Her service alone deserves a standing ovation — patient, kind, and passionate about every dish she described.

🍲 Start with the Corn Soup (Rosary Style) — sweet corn, tender chicken thighs, coconut milk, onion, and garlic. It’s silky, vibrant, and layered with comfort and spice.

🥬 The Gollai Hågun Sope — mustard greens & kale in coconut milk and turmeric over corn. A vegan dream — not a large portion, but rich in flavor and nourishment.

🥟 Riyenu Empanadas — beautiful in presentation, though a bit too fried for my taste. The creamy green fina’dene sauce, however, was divine and worth the order alone.

🍹 Signature Old Fashioned — honey-forward and sweeter than expected; if you’re a traditionalist, you might prefer a classic version.

The outdoor patio was my favorite surprise — warm heaters, cozy art-covered walls, and an intimate setup perfect for date nights or quiet reflection. Accessibility was great, and while I wouldn’t call it “kid-focused,” it’s perfect for adults seeking calm conversation and quality food.

✨ Final thoughts: Modern, soulful, and filled with heart. A neighborhood must-try that feels like home away from home. I’ll be back to try the fried chicken and smash burger everyone’s raving about.

She had full control of the bar and handled a busy crowd with confidence, keeping service smooth and maintaining a great pace the entire time. She never once looked stressed. “A nice little neighborhood bar that's tucked away just off the main drag. One of the few reasonably priced options left open in the area. You'll see a lot of long time locals there which is obviously a good thing.

My first time here and I was craving Chinese food - I Ordered takeout which was promptly delivered hot in compostable and biodegradable takeout containers. No chopsticks or napkins offered. “Stopped in with a friend to play some pinball on Wednesday 8/23/23. Pinball map was pretty accurate regarding pins on location, and the games we played were in good condition, spaced out well, and most had cupholders or tables close by. There were the requisite 40"-50" TVs playing sports set up around the bar, but they were not the center of attention - this isn't a sports bar. There were 4-5 pool tables, and all were busy by the time we left for the Ice Box around 9 PM. Stiff well drinks, a decent selection of beer, etc., and decent prices for the area. I like the square wooden-framed ~25'x25' area around the bar, away from the pinball and pool - it was kind of cozy and they had a corner with a mic set up for...music or karaoke or stand-up, or something else I guess. New owners revamped this place in late 2021 or early 2022, and they kept the dive bar atmosphere, but really cleaned the place up. No yucky smells, and I didn't feel like I had to wash my hands after I left. I know that's not a high bar, but I what I mean was that it was a pleasant and unpretentious place to hang out. Didn't try any food - maybe next time. Sorry, no pictures this time!“

“Cute little bar, and one of the few spots in the area that serves food past 9 pm. However, my main takeaway is that they're mostly a bar which also happens to serve a few food items. They have plenty of drinks, though all their non-alcoholic options are premade—no mocktails or anything. They seem to have table service, but I ended up ordering at the bar after no one came to take my order for a while.

As for food, their smoked mackerel fish tin, which comes with crackers, pickled vegetables, and house-made crème fraîche, is a must-get. The salty fish and crackers balance perfectly with the sour veggies and creamy topping.

Their baguette sandwich is a little disappointing. The flavor rotates weekly, so maybe some weeks are better, but mine was just some turkey, cheese, jalapeños, and mayo. It was pretty dry and chewy; I wouldn't recommend it.

Luckily I came on a Wednesday which is pie night! So I got a delicious slice of blueberry plum crumble pie with homemade whipped cream. I'd definitely recommend trying to snag some pie on a Wednesday!

Overall, this isn't a place I'd recommend for dinner, but it's a great spot to share some drinks and snacks with friends.“

“Been reading about this burger for months now, and I finally willed myself to go down there to check it out. I had the double tavern and the chili fries. I’ll start with the fries, crispy and hand cut. The chili and was great and the sour cream and scallions were a nice touch. Huge portions though so they’re great for sharing. Now the burger, I had moderate expectations based off reviews and pictures. I always leave establishments disappointed when I have higher expectations so I came in with an open mind. I decided to dine in because all food tastes better when it’s Hot and fresh, and it was just that. The meat was cooked perfectly, the cheese melted all the way through, and the sauce was nice and light. The onions gave it a nice kick as well. It was very good. Beware, although it is a double, it is kind of small, so you can definitely kill a couple of them before you start feeling full. It’s really good overall, and I’ll definitely put it in my top burgers in Seattle (probably right next to The Red Mill.) These burgers were also a nice change of pace to fast food burgers, more expensive and the fries are extra but really worth it if you want just a nice, juicy, messy burger. I’ll be back to try the rest of the menu items.“
