“Sagra is an Italian Eatery above Piggy’s on Front Street in La Crosse. It was recommended to us by several residents. It did not disappoint. We started with an Arancini appetizer. We have had arancini before, but NEVER like this. It’s the best we have ever had. Instead of being rice heavy, it was cheese heavy. They were almost like a Wisconsin cheese curd. The pecorino, a mixture of Italian cheeses, was melty and delicious, especially dipped in the buttermilk dipping sauce. We also ordered the special appetizer, fried wax beans. The breading was very light, almost like tempura. The dipping sauce added the flavor. They were good, but the Arancini definitely stood out. For entrees we got a crawfish dish and a chicken dish. Both were generous portions, which allowed us to have leftovers for lunch the following day. The Crawfish Fra Diavola was filled with crawfish and was very flavorful with fresh ingredients. The Chicken Scarpariello was delicious. The polenta was rich and creamy. The chicken comes bone in and skin on, which keeps it juicy. This dish also had Italian sausage and fresh vegetables. I really enjoyed the Italian sausage as a contrast to the chicken. The only disappointment was when we asked the waitress what 5 dishes were on the “chef’s market menu,” she didn’t know and really wouldn’t elaborate. I wanted to try that, but at $58 per person, the requirement for full table participation, and no information, I wasn’t willing to take the chance.”

“Exquisite! The apple and cheese salad was uniform cut and the flavor perfectly balance. Pure joy in every bite!
The pappardelle noodles perfectly cooked and each one was evenly coated with the sauce. Amazing!!
The pistachio crème brûlée on point and heavenly. Overall nothing was over salted or overly sweet. Flavors pair well.
My server knew the menu very well and explain each dish with poise and patience. She wiped the table in between coarses with a crumb tray and clean white cloth then set me up for the next dish with proper placement. I also observed the staff being courteous and professional with each other.

“We love Diggers. Best in La Crosse. But a recent trip let us down. The classic bread crack to locals was gone. Fayzes provided it and they closed. Today People’s Food Coop brought Fayzes bakery back. Hoping the wonderful bread is restored!”

An hour later I realized I ordered it for the incorrect time and not only did she quickly accommodate the time change she also let me change the order. “Stayed here for work Sept , Oct and it is just great. The staff is very nice! There is a small pool and a hot-tub glass windows to see the river. Its nice place to sit when its cold. The Bar looks out on the river. Breakfast lunch and dinner with lounge and tv's in the booths. The patio outside is great they have a fire pit and allow smoking. Its a short walk to everything and a short drive to anything. Parking can be a problem in La Crosse its best to walk, ride bike etc. The rooms are nice the location is perfect.”

“We stopped by last night around 7:15, and there was a good sized line. We weren’t aware that the store was supposed to close at 7 (the website says 9pm). The young man working was the only one there and he handled the line and the late closing extremely well. It wasn’t until someone came in around 7:40 and there were still about 3 parties in line that he told the new customer who came in that they were already closed and that we realized we were “those people”. I just wanted to take a minute to compliment this young man working. He really did a great job of handling a stressful situation, the line was long but you wouldn’t have known by how he handled himself. The customer service was great and so was the ice cream!”

“Great coffee, yummy pastries, fantastic vibes. I've been here many times, and every time it's a smash. Solid music choices, too. I just had a latte and croissant and was too impatient to take a photo before enjoying it, but it was lovely. It's a great place to pop in or to spend a while hanging out or getting work done. I'm currently working on some writing and looked out the window to see an eagle soaring over the frozen Mississippi River. So magical. It's a unique beautiful space, with fair prices, and excellent values. A real community gem I'm proud to have as a neighbor. I'm so grateful Oh Oh Coffee is here! We would eat there again and again and again, but, sadly, we live in Eau Claire. :( If you're searching for really, truly, well done Mexican food -- GO THERE. Tastes just like cooked hamburger. The steak Mexicano had no flavoring and didn't seemed to be merinated. The quacomole was green and thin. This will not keep us from coming back. We will come back and try again. We did discuss this with the owner and he said thank you and he would check into it.”

“Im very form on this. Kwik trip use to be the only gas station I would go to. Now since Covid I’m very disappointed. When Covid first started the staff were amazing at Kwik Trip. Not so much now. Gone to the one on St.Paul and the manager has his mask around his chin and at least 3-4 ppl without masks. Don’t put a sign on your door masks are mandatory if you are not going to enforce it and if the manager himself cannot wear it properly. Start following the law the Governor put in place.”

“This cafe at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe is definitely hard to beat! The staff is absoluely amazing, I was served the best tiramisu I've ever had here and the lattes are great too! Its a wonderful place to meet with friends! My book club meets here monthly now!”

“I drove to lacrosse for a community event but got denied entry and not really sure why. I am from out of state and in mpls I’ve had to call the police to get my id back but at least here the guy just shook his head and handed it back. Lucky didn’t have a problem going anywhere else in town so I’m just assuming my vibe was unwelcome (I was excited to get out of my small Iowa town and was dancing before even handing my id over to the bouncer) plus all the people I’m with are from mn so it just is a bad look being from the odd state. still gonna give 3 stars because every time I run to mpls to my collage town friends I always get questioned and like I said once had to call the police to get my id back and all this guy did was shake his head no and handed it right back so 3 stars is earned because bouncer wasn’t ego maniac like mpls power tripped bouncers but I did drive a long way so I’m gonna revoke the tow stars. Hope to be able to give my money next time in town as I’m sure I’ll be more welcome.”

I would rather pay a little more for the meaty ribs cause good golly they are the best. Please go back to the meaty ribs n bigger chicken breasts as we alway get the big garbage can…alway. And of course the bread pudding was fantastic! Do not mind dropping a 100.00 when we come but please meaty ribs not the thinner ribs we received Tuesday..thank you”

“If you love Chinese food, then this is the place for you. Best little Chinese restaurant in the area. Yes, there have been some changes in the menu and the restaurant, but they still beat every Chinese restaurant in the area. The buffets in this area have gone downhill for sure. China Star has great food. There's lots of returning customers who defend this place because we all know it's way better than the rest in the area. I love their steamed dumplings. I love their sweet n sour shrimp. I love their sweet and sour soup. Go get some today and rejoice at your good find.”

“I stopped in for a quick dinner while my child was at an event on a Saturday night around 6:30 PM. It was very busy with high school and college aged individuals. The staff appeared college age, but an older adult male manager/owner was present. Staff was professional and efficient. Pizza was great and very inexpensive at this hole in the wall. “Very relaxing, everyone so friendly and food was fabulous! We stayed at The Radisson to see the Rotary Lights. After, we went back, freshened up and went downstairs for dinner, very convenient. We asked to be by the windows with a view the lights while we ate but no seats were available and our table was set at a different location, waiting for us to finish our drinks. The gentleman that seated us, moved our table to a window seat that had just opened up without even asking before we went in. We were very impressed that he did this and it made our meal that much more enjoyable. The food was fantastic and would highly recommend.
