“Nice little stop when visiting this side of Bowen Island. The pizza was good with fresh ingredients and a nice crust, though the coffee tasted a bit too light for my preference. The menu is fairly limited, but it is still a convenient place to grab a meal or snack since there are not many restaurant options in the area.“

“Local Artisanal Perfection: A Must-Visit for Chocolate Lovers!
If you are visiting Bowen Island, you absolutely cannot miss Cocoa West Chocolatier. From the moment you walk into their shop in Artisan Square, the incredible aroma of fresh chocolate tells you that you’re in for something special.
What truly stands out is their commitment to artisanal craftsmanship. As local chocolate artisans, they hand-cast their creations using organic, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. The chocolates themselves are unbelievably crafted—each one is like a miniature work of art with complex, balanced flavors that you just won't find in mass-produced brands. Whether you're trying their famous 'Unbelievably Good Egg' or a signature organic truffle, the quality is undeniable.
Beyond the sweets, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The owners, Joanne and Carlos, and their team are professional, knowledgeable, and always happy to share the stories behind their seasonal creations. The cozy European-style café atmosphere, complete with intimate seating and a picturesque garden patio, makes it the perfect place to slow down and savor an artisan hot chocolate.
Supporting local artisans who care this much about their craft is a joy. Don’t leave the island without picking up a box—your only regret will be not buying more!“

“I came here with a friend based on the recommendation of mutual Vancouver friends. What an absolute delightful service, location and vibe. Set in a lovely garden space, with tables and chairs, and plenty of grass to lay a picnic rug down on, The Brass Spoon offered a short, but delicious variety of menu items. The mango lassi was delicious - not overly sweet, but tasting of yummy mango and very refreshing. The Indian samosa and spinach fatayer were delivered piping hot and crisp from the oven; and the chicken wrap was equally as delicious. The chicken if cooked on the spot, rather than precooked, so it took perhaps an extra 15min for it to be ready. Well worth the wait. The staff were lovely, welcoming and keen to have their little business grow into something larger. Highly recommend The Brass Spoon if you’re visiting the Sunshine Coast, a local or looking for something more personable than the eateries on the Main Street in Gibsons.“

“Honestly one of the best and cheapest cafes there is on campus! They have a very cute vibe, cozy study space, and fantastic food for a very low price! The hot entree I got is only $5, and I can't recommend it enough especially if you are a UBC student :)“

“A great local spot right next to the Ferry Terminal. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was fresh and absolutely delicious. This is a cozy little spot and the owner and her mom who run it are so sweet. I’ll definitely come here again as supporting local spots in the community is so important. Looking forward to trying the fresh pressed juice next time!“

“Iced americano tastes good. Not bitter, with a pleasant acidity I personally enjoy. The drink was properly cold from the very first sip. I guess that ice cold water was used to dilute the espresso, with ice cubes to maintain the temperature rather than cool it down, which I really appreciate.
The dine in cup was made of hard plastic. Less refined compared to glass or ceramic.
There are window seats with access to natural light, as well as warm lighting, the space overall feels rather dim tho.
Moderate noise, not unbearable, not really ideal for quiet, focused work or studying. With rhythmic and non-calm background music, the space feels more suited to low key conversations between friends.
Steps lead to a second floor, where I can overlook the bar area on the first level. Some unoccupied seats upstairs had small amounts of food crumbs and paper debris. However, the overall level of cleanliness was still acceptable.“

“I had an exceptional experience at the Cedar Cafe! The Hot Chocolate was rich and decadent, and the Salmon Lock Bannok sandwich was incredibly flavorful. The added bonus of reliable and free WiFi made it the perfect spot to get some work done. I highly recommend stopping by for a delicious drink and bite to eat. The atmosphere and service were top-notch, and I'll definitely be back!“

“The only place worth getting coffee on campus! Seriously top-notch service, excellent coffee and the very best beer taps west of Main.“
“There's an asian girl here with long hair that always takes my order! She makes the whole place feel lighter like you walk in and she’s already smiling or joking with someone and it kind of pulls you in without trying too hard. The drink I got was a really complicated order for my mum (as she's an inpatient who can't have caffeine but is .. addicted to caffeine) and she was so patient.
We ordered a fig and cheese sandwich which I highly recommend!!! Their espresso is also different, so I suggest trying a caffeinated drink.
The cafe's interior is beautiful as well :) Cafe Ami has become my go-to study spot xx“

“I tried the spicy rice cakes and was pleasantly surprised by how good the texture was. They were chewy, well cooked, and had a nice level of spice that was flavorful without being overwhelming. I also liked that the bowl option allows you to try a variety of different foods in one order, which makes it easy to sample several items at the same time. The ingredients tasted fresh and the portions were satisfying. Overall it was an enjoyable meal and a great place to try different combinations. I would definitely come back to explore more items on the menu.“
