“This cafe is truly a gem 💎 it is a special place not only does it serve great food and drinks but it is an important community hub. There are not many places these days especially a locally owned business with a comfortable atmosphere and space where people can relax and catch up with others or their book/work. The owners are so welcoming and friendly. I truly hope this cafe will be around for a long time.

Running a cafe successfully isn't at all easy. Lots of behind the scenes sacrifice, work, stress, increasing costs of all materials.... The owners are always so generous if you notice they never hesitate to give customers take out containers/cups for free and this is just one example.

This is why we all need to support locally owned businesses to not only survive but thrive especially ones that are dear to our communities like Hiel cafe.

“One of my favorite spots :) so far I’ve tried their latte and plain bagel with cream cheese (first strawberry, then green onion), all 10/10. I’m excited to try more of their menu! Definitely a hidden gem and much needed coffee shop in this neighborhood.“

“If there was an option to give more stars, I would. He is the kindest, the warm ambiance he holds in his kitchen makes you feel like you’re transported home to a nostalgic time. On top of that, he’s formed a sweet community of regulars who know his restaurant is delicious. He’ll remember your order, checks in on you, and offers great portions for an incomparable price. The food is AMAZING. Seriously, the food seems to be worth more than what he asks for. Would definitely come again if I lived closer.“

“Just had a coffee in Presso Cafe (used to be Waves Coffee). Still early days as owner was also behind the counter, helping out. It has a warmer atmosphere than Waves and there seems to be a wider range of eatable items.
I enjoyed my filtered coffee and peach loaf.“

“We’re currently on holidays at Whistler (from Australia) and it was a delight to have a nice warm pie for lunch. Good Quality food.“

“It was my first time at this cafe and I was pleased to see there is a lot of space and wall outlets, meaning I can come work on my laptop here, and also that I can meet with friends and not worry about potentially being loud in a small space. There’s a free parking garage and it’s across Brentwood mall, so it’s easy to access the skytrain.

If you want to try anything, I’d recommend the tiramisu cause it’s so moist and the coffee flavour is perfect“

“This cafe is a must-visit for breakfast lovers! Their caramel macchiato is perfectly balanced, and the breakfast croissant is a flaky, savory dream. Seriously, it's one of the best I've ever had. Fast service and a great start to the day!“

“We ordered a Sanwich Tuna Melt and a Morning Glory Muffin. Sanwich was so tasty with nice surprised, some pickles and the muffin ingredients were so rich with lots of nuts and shredded carrots!!

“I really like a cafe that feels family owned, and I really appreciate the care you receive from a business like this. I was greeted so warmly, the woman running the shop made me a bubble waffle with whipped cream and a honey lemon tea, and I enjoyed both immensely. I sat at a little table and peacefully studied for an hour, and I enjoyed the ambiance. It's not a modern, Western interior. It's the same sort of vibe you would get at Happy Day Cafe. Great service and yummy food!

“Matt the barista was on his own today all day due to his associate being sick. I only know this because I overheard him mention it to a regular. My misto was still perfect and it was 2:30pm after 8 hours of keeping this location going all day. Kudos to Matt.“

“This ia loacted in the 3000 level of the Academic Quadrangle in SFU. There are separate Sandwich, Sushi, Soup, Stir fry, Pizza, breakfast and tea with delis counters which serve different food menu. Some of those have daily special items. They have a good selection from many world wide cusines. A subway is also located inside cafe. And there is a large area of chairs and tables that contains different levels of comfort. It is open for breakfast and lunch.

“A peaceful little spot tucked in Burnaby — The Between Café is exactly the kind of place I love when I need a quiet moment or a focused work session.

Their ham & cheese panini is simple, warm, and comforting — perfectly grilled with generous slices of ham and a crisp crust. I paired it with an iced Americano, which had a strong yet smooth flavor, and a hot latte that was well-balanced and not overly milky.

The interior is clean and airy, with modern lighting and a warm atmosphere. Lots of natural light, relaxed music, and no rush — just good vibes and good coffee. Great for studying, chatting, or enjoying a solo coffee break.

Highly recommend if you’re in the Metrotown area or just want to escape the crowds.

“Some of the best coffee I have had in the lower mainland, so smooth. The deserts were wonderful also. Staff were helpful and very pleasant. Very cozy fun space to drink your coffee in.“

“The line up can be long at peak times, even extending beyond the door of the cafeteria. Food offerings are very reasonably priced and affordable. Food is not bad. Staff are helpful, but not out of their way friendly. Very crowded during lunch with no tables left, however, there is seating outdoors. Food is prepared within 5-15 minutes, depending on item and time. Disposable wooden cutlery is available, self-serve. There is a coffee machine, but it is sometimes out of service.

“I love popping into JJ Bean at Metrotown Station Square, especially when I need a solid place to study or meet up with friends. The space is bright and airy, with high ceilings and plenty of natural light and it creates a really inviting ambiance for focused work or chatty get‑togethers :)))“

“No idea why the average here is so low, this is a top tier campus coffee place. I love love love their shaken iced teas, literally scrumptious with different syrup flavours so you can switch it up, and full of the caffeine a full time student needs. All other drinks are delicious too. I get their samosas a lot and they're great too, have tried some of the desserts too. The service can be a bit slow sometimes but it's also usually insanely busy as it's a campus hotspot, so like what do you want them to do?? I am already looking forward to my first Blenz visit this September!“

“We recently ordered bingsu here twice on different weekday lunchtimes and were really impressed with the care the kitchen staff put into making them on both occassions. They not only looked great but tasted great! When paying $20+ for a dessert, this is the kind of effort and service one would expect. “Had a croissant breakfast sandwich at 6:30am was surprisingly cheap (6$) tastes good and a can of coke, nice atmosphere (lighting/music).

Service felt a bit rushed for first thing in the morning but no biggy, not all items on the menu are available this early in the morning (wanted to try the Korean pork on rice).

Saw a lot of poor reviews mostly complaining about the coffee drinks here but all the good reviews say the food options are good (and they do look good in the display) so might want to stick with that if you try this place.

Imo not a bad place to chill for a bit if you are waiting to get service at the other companies in this complex.“
