“Foods always decent my one complaint about this location is the auto prompt in the drive throught. As soon as you pull up you have someone who sounds incredibly miserable say hello what can I get for you. However when you say your order it’s usually met by a real person asking you to repeat yourself. Because they were not ready to take your order yet. I say ditch the auto prompt as you get the same greeting by one of the worker when they come on the line.“

“The Mill Bay Mickey D's is 1 of my favorites here on Vancouver Island, their consistent high quality & freshness is great, & the drinks taste really great& special because there's no fluoride in the tap water there, so, no icky weird city water taste messing with the flavour of your choice of soda fountain drink!A strange occurrence during this particular visit though, the line up for the drive through was huge, so I parked my truck out front, went in & ordered a double cheeseburger, (with no pickles), & what I received and didn't notice till back on the highway, that I'd actually received a rather messy big Mac with what appeared to be not only extra pickles, but extremely huge amounts of "secret sauce" as well, I was completely confused & horrified, I also got a large fries that were badly undercooked, so, not so great today... Hmmm.“

“The coffee shop at the Butchart Gardens is a decent spot to grab a bite and have a drink of coffee.
It wasn’t something spectacular, but it got the job done. Me and my girlfriend needed a little bit of energy after the ferry ride to the island, and this did the trick.
My main complaint though? It is pretty expensive, considering the already high price of entry to the garden itself.“
“Hank's Bakery, just off the busy highway on Duncan’s outskirts, is a local favorite that’s well worth the extra drive. This bakery-café hybrid focuses on fresh-made food and seasonal specials, drawing in a steady stream of customers who don’t mind the bustling atmosphere for a taste of Hank’s quality.
The bakery is often packed, and space inside is tight. Seating is limited, with a few small tables and a bar area that suits solo diners or those just grabbing a quick bite. It’s more of a grab-and-go spot than a sit-and-stay café, but the food keeps people coming back.
Hank's stands out for its focus on fresh ingredients, which sets it apart from typical cafés that prioritize drinks. Their menu is always changing, with seasonal specials adding variety and keeping things exciting. Whether it’s fall-inspired pastries or summer-fresh salads, Hank’s makes the most of each season’s flavors.
Overall, I’d rate Hank’s a 7.2/10. The quality of the food and seasonal offerings are huge pluses, though the busy, cramped space makes it a better fit for quick stops than extended visits. If you're in the area, it’s a must-try for fresh, flavorful fare!“

“First time there, from Nanaimo for a Geocaching event. I had a London Fog and a Cranberry Lemon Scone. They were both tasty.“
