“I was visiting from the mainland and did some research to find a good coffee spot and let me tell you, Union Specific did NOT disappoint. My iced latte was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had, the quality of the coffee is just pure magic.

On top of that, I’m a huge BLT lover, and this place has the best BLT I’ve ever had. The ingredients are fresh, the bread perfectly toasted, and every bite was incredible. Their sweets are divine too, I had the berry white chocolate scone and it was absolutely delicious.

I was so excited to come back the next day for another coffee and BLT, but I realized they’re closed on Sundays 😭. Ever since then, I’ve been planning my next trip just so I could visit twice this time. Unfortunately, because they close early and my ferry was late, I didn’t make it on Friday as I’d hoped. My only wish is that they were open later and on Sundays so I could selfishly enjoy it even more!

They will always be my first stop whenever I visit Victoria. I can’t recommend Union Specific enough if you love coffee, BLTs, or just amazing treats, you need to go.“

“Was looking for caffeine and soup and ended up with an iced Americano and congee? Never expected to see congee but given my dental procedure just prior, I decided to give it a try. Congee was amazing! Not what you’d expect from a Chinese congee and in the best way. Americano was super smooth without the over-roasted bitterness of some better known coffee brands. I was on the island for a visit and will be back at my next opportunity.“

“This has recently become one of my new favourite coffee shops in Victoria with such a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere!!! I am truly obsessed with the whole layout of everything and all the little touches that goes into the experience. Every time I visit they always have very friendly staff and they always make the most PERFECT lattes (iced and hot) !! I would say that the americano I ordered before was definitely on the bitter side while there still was a nice flavour to it <3 Along with their display of baked goods, they serve really good cookies!! I seriously will keep coming back as it's the perfect place to enjoy a coffee with a friend or to peacefully work on schoolwork!! It's such a nice space with great seating and decorations. I will also add that they have a really cool selection of books and magazines which is always fun to look through, along with the funky art they have on their walls!“

“Gigi's is a rad local cafe with freshly made baked goods (I get a muffin every time) and delightful coffee. They support the local arts by showcasing local artist's physical talent (trinkets, mugs, paintings) and also through hosting open mics and poetry/writers nights. They have a live musician play most Sundays for a few hours and the owner, Gino, sings some sweet Italian tunes at the open mics. So... yeah Gigi's has been a glorious addition to the Quadra Village, buy stuff there“

However we are visiting from the UK and was not aware of the tipping etiquette so… if you are travelling from aboard make sure you tip as otherwise the staff will serve other customers first rather than the order of buying the coffee. Don’t make the same mistake I did. 4 people that brought their drinks after me got prioritise as they obviously tipped 🤷‍♀️.“

“Stopped by around 2:30 pm on a weekday for a quiet break during my Vancouver Island drive. The café had a calm, steady rhythm — not crowded, but active enough to feel part of the local flow. Staff were friendly and efficient, and the interior was clean, bright, and welcoming.

A pleasant surprise: they offer a small selection of Asian food items alongside their coffee and pastries — a thoughtful touch that adds variety and local flavor. I also noticed my own handcrafted cutting boards on display, made from colorful natural hardwood — a proud moment to see them featured in a space that values warmth and community.

Parking is easy, and the location is convenient for anyone traveling between Victoria and the West Shore communities. A simple, steady café that adds a moment of calm to a weekday afternoon — with a few personal touches that make it even more meaningful.“

“Amazing vibe, I like the quietness of the place, Sunday morning and not more than a few people here. Just read about the business and what its purpose is and I find this extremely incredible, having found out I have adhd and some other things going on in the past few years this really helps with being myself. My intuition says that most of the audience in Victoria might not be ready for this concept yet. And it's more likely not so profitable for the team... but I wish them to reach that point, as it was with Bauhaus design (the first period, most people around preferred thingies), but after customers opened their eyes )) hope the same will be with this unique creative spot.“

“We ordered 4 bags online to be shipped to Edmonton, they were sent promptly but on arrival we noticed our 5lb bag had turned into a 300g bag on its journey over haha. “I had a cortado here and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. The building itself is unique and full of character, and I found myself fascinated just by being there. What struck me most, though, was the customers such effortlessly stylish people all in one place. It felt like the most fashionable crowd I’ve seen in Victoria at once.“

“During the protest on Feb 19 I came in to get tea and coffee. I like to support small businesses like this. Nice clean place. Vax pass required to sit in but not to take out. Which was nice. I had a lovely girl serve me and we talked about the egg bites. I thanked her and went to leave and had a woman cruse at me and then threaten to hit me. I kindly asked if she was having a bad day and needed a hug. I then began to record her I case she did proceed with what she said. I want to apologize to all people who were there trying to enjoy a peaceful day, and the the lovely staff who are just trying to do their job in a world that’s gone nuts. Sorry that this woman felt the need to be ignorant and violent to a person who was peacefully and politely getting a tea and coffee. This behaviour in older adults is embarrassing. And I am sorry it happened in your nice establishment. Hopefully it won’t happen again. I’d like to post the woman’s picture since she threatened me. But I’ll save her the embarrassment. “The bus for my return ferry was coming in just one minute, and I really wanted to say I was sorry and ask if you could prepare it quickly. But with my limited English, all I could say was “the bus…!” Seeing me so flustered, the staff kindly hurried without getting upset. I was truly grateful, though I also felt bad for rushing, and I ended up running out without even saying a proper goodbye. Thankfully, I caught the bus.

“Great food and atmosphere, especially for the price. I ate there twice while staying a few blocks away on a vacation. The tofu muffuletta sandwich was great, especially the bread and salad I got on the side. I also really enjoyed the pancake. I'll definitely be back next time I'm visiting Victoria.“

“Fantastic, cozy little cafe! It's a little bit hidden behind the apartments, but it's a lovely environment and as far as I know, family-owned.

Prices are reasonable, lattes are extremely comforting like a warm hug. I've only had their iluka buns but they did not disappoint.

“I recently came to this coffee shop for the first time, and I was met with such friendly service, great coffee and a busy but cozy atmosphere. I enjoyed it so much that I came back again the following week and was met with the same friendly sevice and a delicous muffin! They have won my business for sure.
