“Live up to the name of the restaurant. The taste of the food is good, salt and spice level is just the right mix. Serving is considerate for the price. The best part is the noodles. Definitely will come back. Spent around $50 for three dishes.“

“The number of authentic Chinese food where I live in the states is a rather sad amount, hence why we drive for a while to a whole different country for some hella authentic food.
Been going here for many years, quality has never changed; definitely the go-to spot for Dim Sum. Sure, there might be runner-ups, but their vibes just aren't the same.
Atmosphere: see, what I mean by vibes are the carts that wheel the Dim Sum by, the long wait lines (you got people lining up even at three or four o'clock), and the owner somehow managing to bid a customer goodbye, take an order, and holler out a name for the next person up in line to come on up.
Service: ooh, might I also mention, best to call in and reserve a spot ahead of time. That might cut down your wait time from half to one hour to the five to fifteen minutes I usually have to wait. Since it's so busy, do expect a slight delay in service if you want to order something specific or get your tea refilled. It's alright, it's understandable. Oh, also, they do take extra requests! For example, my family and I don't like stuff too heavy on salt or oil, so we asked if we could get the fried beef noodles (干炒牛河粉) with less salt and oil, it did come waaay lighter. Thanks!
Food: now... if I were to write down every single food and my corresponding rating, I might hit the review character limit... just trust me on this! You can't go wrong with anything, so whether you're looking for an authentic vibe and experience or you have zero idea what to try, you really can't go wrong! Everything's amazing.
There's a reason there are thousands of reviews of this place, and I know many restaurants that have hiked up prices or lowered their quality after getting a bit more popular. In my experience, the food quality has pretty much stayed the same. Commendable!
Is it worth driving over three hours just to here? Yup, it is.“

“Literally THE best family business and amazing food. Everything is made on-site. The packaged dim sum may be frozen, but don’t let that fool you one bit- it packs a hefty punch of flavour! My favourites are the ha gow, pork and shrimp siu mai, beef meatball, shrimp wonton, pork beancurd, vegan mushroom dumpling, turnip cake, pork and chive dumpling, lotus leaf wrap, blackbean sparerib, chicken feet, mung bean sticky rice, BBQ pork bun(best in the city), salted custard bun, red bean bun. My grandma’s favourite is the peanut sticky rice wrap. She said they taste just like the ones her mother taught her to make, so you know they’re super authentic!!! Shop local, support legacy businesses, and save Chinatown!“

“Always busy just because the food is tasty and dishes portion is big relatively cheap to the price you pay, services is so so just because the waitress are too busy to handle many tables. Overall, good deal and tasty, worth to come again. Street parking is not easy to find one close enough.“

“My mom and I joined a tour group from Seattle to Banff national park and stopped here for dinner. The food that the tour group ate was wonderful and ate vegetarian fried rice, beef tendon in teriyaki sauce and others. The service was wonderful and that there were lots of people there.“

“We had a fantastic dim sum experience about a year ago at a different location, which was helped by having a large group of 20—plenty of dishes to sample. This time, it was just the three of us, so we kept it light with six dishes. Unfortunately, the Thai-style chicken feet didn’t go over well with the family—the strong vinegar flavor and unusual texture were a far cry from the traditional braised and steamed version that’s typically tender and flavorful. That said, the rest of the dishes were enjoyable and tasted freshly made, which definitely elevated the overall quality.
Prices are noticeably higher than what we’re used to in Seattle, though we haven’t tried other spots in the area yet. That said, the portion sizes here are nearly double, which helps justify the cost. Service didn’t quite match the upscale feel of the restaurant, but we didn’t encounter any issues. And even without a reservation, we were seated right away.
Note on my rating scale: Sharing this for transparency, as I recognize that a 3-star review may be misinterpreted as reflecting a mediocre experience.
5 stars – Exceptional: Outstanding food, service, and/or overall experience. Truly worth going out of your way for. (For example, we frequently make the drive from San Antonio to Austin just for Uchi.)
4 stars – Very Good: Exceeds expectations in quality, service, or ambiance.
3 stars – Good: A solid experience that meets expectations. I consider any place with 3 stars or above worthy of a return visit.
2 stars – Disappointing: Falls short in food quality or service.
1 star – Poor: Not recommended.“

“For a restaurant featured on the Michelin Guide, Chef's Choice is a very solid restaurant all around. It's got a very nice interior atmosphere, with tasteful decor.
Quick and attentive staff and service, combined with incredibly good dim sum and other Cantonese dishes, which makes Chef's Choice my choice for Vancouver dim sum places.“

“A nice big high ceilings and big windows Chinese restaurant. It's good enough for a dim sum lunch and dinner since the place is comfortable and roomy. It's a good Chinese restaurant if you are meeting your friends and family since it's comfortable and not noise.
They offer 20% off for the dim sum and free tea in the morning until 11am Monday to Friday. This is a good deal if you can go in the morning. There are plenty of free parking too.
Since the restaurant is big, sometimes you may find no enough staff there.
The price is reasonable and food is quite good. They have some promotion combo and special price in lunch time.
If you are in this area, you can try it once.“

“We ordered the dan dan noodles (spicy), fried bean-paste noodles, and wontons in chili sauce. I had high expectations for the fried bean-paste noodles and wontons, but surprisingly, the dan dan noodles ended up being our favorite. I’m usually not a big fan of dan dan noodles, but these were very creamy, nutty, and moreish! They weren’t spicy for us, though.
The lady who took our order seemed a bit concerned that two of us were ordering three dishes, but I didn’t find the portion sizes overly large—three dishes were just right without making us feel too full.
Overall, I really enjoyed their food and would love to come back to try other dishes.
One thing to note: they only accept cash, not even debit, so come prepared!“

“We’ve tried many Chinese restaurants, but this place suits our taste the best. Not only does it match our family’s preferences, but even when friends from afar come to visit, everyone praises the food here—especially the delicious dim sum. The staff are friendly, and the prices are very reasonable compared to other places. The restaurant is always busy, so if you don’t want to wait, I’d recommend calling ahead to reserve a table.“

“It's probably a good thing I don't live nearby, else I'd be eating multiple pastries a day, everyday.
Everything's good. Seriously. The cha su bao's got a soft, fluffy bun and savory meat. Sesame balls are bursting with filling. The pluto had yummy citrus undertones. Most surprising was probably the red bean donut with its sugary coating. And of course, the dan tat had the perfect consistency.“

“A true hidden gem in Richmond. The low ratings on Yelp and Google don't do the justice. They serve the best Shanghainese food I've had in recent years. I recommend every dish we got.
Unlike some other Shanghainese restaurants, their food doesn't taste too oily or heavy. Our server was very friendly even we arrived close to their last order time.
- Pan Fried Steamed Bun 東泰祥生煎饅頭***
- Dried Shelled Shrimp w. Spring Onion Sauce Stirred Noodle 蔥油開洋拌面**
- Deep Fried Pork Steak 上海炸豬排**
- Deep Fried Steamed Gluten 上海特色烤麩
- Wonton Soup (Pork and Vegetable) 薺菜大餛飩
I've been constantly searching for good sheng jian bao, and I found one that lives up to my expectation here. Each piece had a half-fluffy half-crispy texture, with a golden bottom and juicy pork fillings. The buns were made to order, so it came piping hot.
My second favorite was the scallion stirred noodles. It was a simple, humble yet fragrant dry noodle seasoned with dried shelled shrimps and scallion oil.
The deep fried pork steak exceeded what I expected -- the bread was thin while the pork chop remained juicy and tender. It had a crispier finish as the meat was thinly sliced.“

“We usually come here for dinner. It was our first time thing their brunch. Highly recommend trying their xiao long bao and sesame chicken noodles for brunch. We got our fave dong bo Rou as well 😆 didn’t think that would be available for lunch but it is so we ordered it. I love that the sauce is slightly sweet and the meat ks super tender. Remember to order their mapo tofu. It’s only $3.95 and it’s not a typo 😉“

“We come here often because it's close to our family. The food is very standard dim sum, nothing special. I usually order the pan fried turnip cakes - it's usually really delicious but the last few times it has been dry, flavorless and bland. The rice rolls are a little too dry as well. They do have delicious baked BBQ pork buns though and their fried dishes are usually good.
The service is always 👍. They're very personable and friendly, and very efficient.
Go in the morning. It gets extremely busy once 1130am comes around.“

“DO NOT COME HERE unless you want to support a cheap company. I work for Door Dash and just finished completing a merchant order from there. I carried 10 heavy boxes of spring rolls to their store on L2 Brentwood Mall. $200 worth of food and $0 tips from them. This is a disgrace and I will never take an order from Will H again at this store. If I can go lower than 1 star I would but Google forces me to give 1. Embarrassing to have restaurants like these exist.“

“A reliably tasty dim sum spot with authentic Cantonese flavors, tidy execution, and genuinely attentive service—easy to recommend for a relaxed weekend yum cha .
Siu mai are bouncy and meaty with a sweet shrimp snap; seasoning leans classic and lets the pork-shrimp blend shine without MSG heaviness .“

“nice chill place with supportive staff that help you along the way if it's your first time. It's a super solid all you can eat hotpot place that my family enjoys coming to. I highly recommend this place. They also have good lunch sets that I haven't gotten around to trying but the lunch sets are super cheap for what looks like is actually good quality for what you spend.“
“Great place for frozen dimsum. Have been coming here for a few years now and will continue coming back whenever I need a restock.
Places like this used to be more common here when I was a kid but as our city changes so does the landscape of local business. Stop by and enjoy home made dimsum while shops like this are still around.“

“My husband brought me here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. He was recommended to come by a friend and we were glad we came.
The owner was so nice and had messaged my husband with recommendations of dishes to try (some of which were not on the menu).
All his dishes were amazing and so delicious. As he is the only chef, dishes took a while to come out but we did not mind the wait at all. The server was nice and tended to us when we needed anything.
It was definitely worth our trip to downtown for this restaurant. Highly recommended!!“

“For a chinese restaurant that caters to the more budget friendly spectrum, the service here was surprisingly excellent - which is shocking for budget chinese restaurants lol!
But besides the good service, food here is also very decent especially when we factor in price - which is one of the more value-oriented dim sum places around in GVRD area. Within the same class, this place is at least another 10-15% cheaper which makes a big difference.
Taste / seasoning is on the lighter side, wok-hei (breath of wok) and flavours are slightly more muted but overall still good for the price.
Ambience is nothing special. The restaurant is packed on a weekday lunch service which says something - not bad.
Will return!“

“What a truly spectacular dinner! Our alumnae association's day of recollection concluded with the perfect finale, thanks to the fabulous food and impeccable service at Fisherman’s Terrace in Richmond's Aberdeen Centre. A special thanks goes to the maître d', Simon, for curating an unforgettable menu and his assistant, Susana, for expertly handling the seating arrangements for our party of nearly 60.
The meal was a journey of delightful surprises, starting with the Peking duck appetizer that had our U.S. guests convinced it was the highlight of the night. But each subsequent dish somehow raised the bar even higher. The lobster noodle dish was outstanding, and the fried chicken was a revelation—who knew it could be such a special dish?
Our server, Candy, also deserves a special mention. She was incredibly efficient, handling our large group with remarkable calm and courtesy. Her unflappable service was a key part of what made the evening so seamless.
We left feeling grateful for a truly memorable experience and a fitting end to a day that fed both the body and the spirit.“

“I recommend reserving 2-3 days in advance if you wish to have dim sum brunch here on the weekend.
My favourites: stir fried green beans with minced meat, beef tendon, deep fried green scallion pancake, shu mai, fried stuffed eggplant
Wasn’t too impressed by: chicken feet, egg tart, rice noodles with beef, pai gwat fan, or hum sui kok
Overall service was very courteous, not quite rushing but efficient in removing empty dishes, no complaints since it was understandably a very busy Saturday lunch session (every table was full by 12pm, walk-ins had to be turned away at the door)
They no longer sell steamed rice rolls (I wanted to get the one stuffed with fried donut or shrimp). Seems the menu has shrunk a bit, probably to make the kitchen run more efficiently + reduce waste / costs.
My family like to dine here so I’ll probably be back but there are equally good if not better dim sum places around Vancouver.“

“- family run business - was highly recommended to this place and only ate there after the 2nd visit as lineup was too long - a food court place with just a few eateries in the Admiralty centre in Richmond - famed for wonton noodle , hainan chicken rice and hk style milk tea and iced lemon tea - there’s also crispy Chinese donut (油炸鬼&牛俐蘇) in the next stall - wonton noodle was crisp, springy and not soft and mushy and good size of wonton wrapped in shrimp and pork ) soup based was commendable - chicken is tender and the portion fairly sized - hainan chicken can be ordered in a set with rice , Chinese green - combination sets range from $11 with a drink - deep fried crisp fish skin is also a must try - was told that family sometime closes for trips - only stall in there with a lineup - very reasonably priced - we bought the deep fried fish skin home for the rest of the family to try and it was still tasty and crisp in the evening“

“The food at Joyful Seafood Restaurant was top notch. I want to say it’s the best Chinese seafood restaurant in Greater Vancouver. The customer service level was excellent. Manager Sam was very helpful in helping us choosing a fresh rockfish as dinner. It was the freshest seafood I ever had. Kudos to all the waiters and waitresses. The quality of the lunch dim sum was also top notch. I definitely highly recommend Joyful Seafood restaurant.“

“Honestly, I think Golden Swan’s ratings should be higher than 3.9. I think it’s better than Sun sui wah, western lake and even Kirin. It’s a bit more of an old school vibe, less affected by hipsters, which I prefer. Nothing pretentious here—just good old fashioned dim sum. The staff are actually pretty attentive and nice, at least compared to western lake where they just yell at you, or seem annoyed to have to deal with you (even with my Cantonese speaking husband!)“

“After walking past the broken irrigation system and entering inside. You will be greeted and directed to a waiting area which is a bit uncomfortable seating looks nice but very rigid, you will be forced into a proper posture.
The food is very quick and fresh to arrive almost as if the chef is at the table with you.
Wait staff very quick to make sure your table stays clean, had to ask they stop changing my plate so often, kind of funny but a but distracting when you are chatting with your group. I did very much appreciate the humor they had when coming around very welcoming with the humor of an uncle or a sibling, a gentle tease or offering to do somthing ridiculous like well if you dont like the filling in the sesame bun I can remove it for you no charge and give you back the bun with no filling.“

“A pretty decent dim sum spot — not too fancy, but hits the spot! 🥢 The place isn’t big, yet the dim sum quality is quite good. Steamed dishes come out hot and fresh, with nice big portions, and the fried items are crispy and flavorful. The rice noodle rolls are super smooth and tasty — definitely my favorite! 😋
Only downside — the tea could be better. It’s a bit weak and lacks that classic aroma. Hope they can level up the “Drink Tea” to match the rest of the food. 💪✨“

“Most of the dishes we selected were well prepared. But our party made a mistake ordering an abalone dish, which’s pricy, & bland tastewise. We realized afterward that it’s an endangered spices. The noise level’s high in the restaurant. A good thing’s that underground parking’s free for customers.

“Don’t be fooled by the low ratings! The dim sum we tried were delicious. The shrimp dumplings had perfectly thin wrappers and a hearty filling. Another classic, the siumai was also great, with a good balance of shrimp and pork. I loved the seafood tart which had a nice and sweet mayonnaise sauce that made it super creamy. My highlights were definitely the crispy prawn rice rolls, as it was both crunchy and chewy from the skin, as well as the steamed bbq pork buns. It had a generous amount of filling, and the best part was the bun itself, which was soft yet it didn’t stick to my teeth. Perfect balance!
One thing I would skip, however, would be the lemon bbq pork pastry, as I thought the pastry was quite thick and not delicate enough.
Overall, a solid dim sum spot!“
“Very delicious Chinese chives dumplings(韭菜盒子) - extra large in size with al dente wrappings Lam fried. We liked it so much we even bought some frozen ones to enjoy at home. Lots of variations to select from. We saw many people coming in to buy the frozen dumplings this afternoon. Owner speaks English and Mandarin. Very authentic stuff!“

“Quite contrasting experiences in the reviews. We went for dinner last night an hour before they closed. Upon entering we were warmly greeted with a sincere smile. We had a couple of questions about the menu and our server was helpful.
The food was delicious. The beef was so tender. Wonton soup was terrific. The place was clean. Both people we encountered were very friendly. We both left so full, almost bordering on discomfort.
We also visited a few years ago and had a good experience also. The date has a special importance to us and the food and service added to that memory. A little expensive.“
