“The food here is excellent. Staff is very friendly and kind. Felt a little rushed towards the end of the dinner. Probably because they are only opened for a few hours. Overall, I can't get over how delish this food is. Definitely a new favorite. I recommend the Foccacia Bread Board for an appetizer. The bread paired with honey, pears and mozzarella was divine. The Manicotti was so good and the chocolate cake with a glass of moscato was the perfect way to end the meal. 5 stars!“

Situated at the heart of beautiful Old Town Pasadena, Fishwives is a solid spot if you're looking for variety and a bit of a change from your usual American greasy food.Their ceviche is outstanding and so fresh; the fried oysters on devilled eggs were incredibly flavourful and cooked to perfection - with the right amount of crunch; the lobster roll was scrumptious with chunks of lobster meat in every bite; and their fish and chips were outstanding - featured a great crispy batter paired with their excellent fries. “Amazing food, ambiance, wine, and staff! Tucked away on Holly St., a few blocks over from Colorado. Old town local vibe. Super chill. I've been trying new restaurants in the area and decided to pop in early on a Fri nite. Got a seat at the counter overlooking the chef preparing all the meals. Ordered a rose, very tasty. Short ribs with mash potatoes. Amazing! I will definitely be back to try more things. Highly recommend. We really don't have anything like this in Pasadena.“
“This little restaurant situated in the corner of a strip mall is an absolute revelation. It's an unbelievable addition to the area and a must try. We started by ordering a tray of their chipotle chicken fettuccine. It will ruin you for all other places that offer a version of chicken fettuccine. It's beyond good. The chipotle sauce is creamy and has a nice subtle kick. The chicken is grilled perfectly and yet stays moist. The pasta itself has the perfect bite to it. I can't say enough. It's that good. Next up we tried the Italian chopped salad. The salad had no business being that good. I hate salads and this salad converted me instantly. The greens were crispy and fresh and the dressing was to die for. This is one salad you will not regret ordering. We came back the next day and ordered the lasagna. This lasagna does not belong in a restaurant without Michelin stars. It was layer upon layer of cheesy awesomeness with a delicate marinara sauce in between. I can't wait for the day where you can taste pictures because this lasagna blew our mind. We are fat boys so we had to give the Meat Lovers pizza a try. There are no words. The dough has a perfect texture and the cheese melts so good. The toppings were generous and you had a bite of something meaty in every bite. Last, but not least, the bread. We tried the regular bread rolls but there was nothing regular about them. Absolutely fluffy pillows of goodness that were good by themselves or great with any of our pasta dishes. We also had the garlic bread which was maybe the only pedestrian thing about our meal. I prefer my garlic bread a bit more buttered but held up well to the sauces. Finally, the bruschetta. Crispy toast with the freshest tomatoes and dressing. A must have if you have the room. Don't sleep on this spot. It's worth the visit from literally anywhere.“
“How could I forget about this beautiful restaurant for months since my first visit with girl friends last September? I am so glad I suddenly remember this restaurant last Saturday,the first day of the Chinese new year! The interior decoration is perfect for Chinese new year! This is My family's first time visit! They all love it! Perfect for pictures! It is a shame for not many people knowing this place, because they are only two tables occupied during our 1.5 hour visit. The only waitress is Miss Iris from Taipei. She is super nice and friendly! Fortunately, when we left, there were two parties coming in! We love the food maybe because the owner and the chef are from my hometown Taiwan, according to the waitress! The presentation is so beautiful! Perfect for my Facebook postings! “This is a small place, but a small place with so much heart. One of the highlights of my annual business trip to Pasadena. Great coffee, breakfast food, deli sandwiches, beer, wine, etc. I once got a Cordova breakfast burrito every day three days in a row and love every second of eating it. I desperately needed to charge my dying phone, and couldn’t find an outlet anywhere in the book aisles. So I stumbled across The 1894, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. Their happy hour is awesome- a french pilsner for only $6! And the staff went out of their way to accommodate me near an outlet where i can drink and charge my phone. Again, was not expecting this pleasant bar, but will def be back!“

But showcase the “best of…” the restaurants offerings.In this case the food was tasty…IF you have the stomach capacity of a 4 year old. You know those fancy restaurants that have one or two bites of food and some swirled sauces on the plate for presentation… welp, this was a version of that.Portions were ridiculously small almost angry worthy.The food quality and flavor is good but cmon, 4 pieces of tofu? In an Italian restaurant?Beet salad with literally one slice of beet and 1.5 bites of cabbage?It was like getting served after dinner mint sized portions for your actual meal.Server was nice, I’d give a 4 out of 5 since he did not follow up at all after the initial order or check on drinks.Oh and an automatic 20% gratuity on the check.All in all the food is tasty, service is good by today’s lower standards, but the price to value ratio is -5 starsBut hey if you’re on a diet, this is the place to go!!! 5 bites and your whole meal is done!!Might be worth a chance to try again on a regular menu and dining evening…we’ll see“

“Great restaurant but couple things:1) the food, pastas in particular, are very heavy flavored, we went in large group and all of us had digestive upset that night.2) the server pushed us to order way too much. She had us order 12 dishes (not including bread) for our party of 6 adults and asserted it would be a light meal. We ordered at least three dishes too many. And we are not light eaters. We were not happy with her guidance.“
