“Found this OUTSTANDING place in an industrial area of Cathedral City, and it turned out to be a diamond in the rough. Not sure if that is accurate as it is just a diamond. Perfect for sandwiches and according to the menu breakfast (served all day). I had a Cubano and my wife had the Chili Pepper Roast Beef Sandwich. Both were far more than expected. Discovered Saturday is BBQ SATURDAY and looking at the special menu we can hardly wait for next Saturday. Was told the brisket is put in the smoker Friday afternoon, so you can tell it is done right. Employees were helpful and extremely friendly. I would list a possible defect, but I cannot think of one. I am not one who usually post this stuff, but I had to share“

“Love this little place. This is the best sushi place you could find in the desert cities. Highly recommended. Fresh sweet shrimp with fried shrimp head is a must order item. I also love their green tea ice cream with fried bananas for dessert.“

“The guy was cool after he saw no one was helping me at first. The food was good. It was kind of late so I didn’t want to react to the fact that no one said hello and made eye contact. A hello is a big impression. Otherwise it’s excellent food and value.“

“Fresh farm to table fare with attentive service and good ol' fashion classics filling the room (and I mean REAL classics as in Sinatra and Armstrong)! Upon arrival the staff effortlessly brings you their gigantic menu which is ever changing to keep up with the seasonal ingredients. We ordered the duck charcuterie board. The fresh baked bread served alongside is reminiscent of North Italia with a nice crunch and brush of olive oil. The duck prosciutto was cut thick, salami tasty and kumquat Jam preserve just the perfect balance. Other tastings included the grilled dates and flatbread. For our entrees, we ordered the tenderloin (cooked to perfection and seriously melts in your mouth) and lamb shank. Both were served with creamy mash potatoes and grilled veggies for a healthy side. Our waiter Alejandra was lovely(!) and so knowledgeable about the offerings for evening. She truly takes pride in her job. Francisco provided top notch service, keeping our glasses full and quickly whisking away our dirty plates. MVP of the evening was Daniel of course and his sous chef who happily labored the evening away to perfect each and every dish from scratch. How do we know? Because we had front row seats to the open kitchen concept and enjoyed every bit of the food magic that unfolded. Love finding these hidden gems where the people that run it truly love what they do. As other reviewers have said, Daniel's isn't just dinner, it's an experience; so, pull up a chair, bring a good friend, enjoy the music and expect to be here for a while. And yes, it's worth it.“

“My family and I haven't been coming here since the 90s. Whenever we are in the low desert and want Mexican food this is our go to. Salsa is good, so are the margaritas. They have excellent pork tamales as well. Our relatives that come out from North Carolina always ask to come here too when they're visiting. Service is excellent. Not exactly a quiet atmosphere if you're there when they're busy, but not too bad.“

“This place was recommended to me by my friend Claudia, another Elite Yelper. Oh man - sooo damn good! We each commented that these are the best pupusas in the valley; full of whatever meat, cheese and/or vegan option you choose. The restaurant was very clean. We were quickly greeted with smiles and seated at a table. Our server was fun, witty and so quick with everything. She cleared our plates less than a minute from finishing our food - bonus points! We came to celebrate an occasion. We were not disappointed. And, even though the bar is VERY limited, we'll be back here again! Thank you, thank you, thank you!“

“Place is awesome, favorite spot for my wife and I and any friends that come into town. The only place in the desert thats reminds me of my time living in NY and the second to none Italian food. Best carbonara and chicken piccata in the desert.“

“One of the best restaurants I went to while in Cat City for Coachella. If you don't want to pay exorbitant amounts of money for sub bar food at the festival, go to this place for a pre game meal. Your tastebuds will thank you. I'm usually not a fan of hard shell tacos but their beef tacos had fall-off-the-bone meat, and crispy crunchy taco shells that I haven't had anywhere else. Their specials center around pupusas, but those tacos won over my palate. Ended up coming here twice because of the value and taste. The waitstaff is extremely nice and we left with some temporary tattoos from the quarter machines which apparently haven't been serviced in 2+ years. Got to relive a part of my childhood here. 5/5 highly recommend!“

“First time here, but Cynthia was very helpful and made great recommendations. The smokehouse burger was excellent! The patty had great seasoning and the sauce that came with it complemented it well. The pizza was great as well, you can’t go wrong with either option. I’d also suggest the Que Onda Lager!“

“Loved my Cadillac Margarita and ala carte taco! Would have taken a photo but it was so good, I didn't have time. Sitting at their bar is the best! Surpassed my expectations!! How? Salsa and chips were the bomb! Loved the heat from the salsa and it's mild with much flavor. Hate Tex-Mex and this place is so so so much more! Yes, it's on the smaller size however don't let that fool you on the flavor, food or drinks!!“

“My husband and I love the food here. I haven't tried very many things on the menu, but the things I have tried I have enjoyed. I'm kinda stuck on the one thing. I get the chicken Tortilla soup pretty much everytime. I make some rice and add it. It makes for a hearty meal. Plus I add a little sour cream. All together it is super yummy. My husband will try different things sometimes. He has also enjoyed everything he has tried. We usually get it as take out and the order is right almost everytime. I kinda don't like eating out or take out as much as I use to because I feel like most places cannot get the order right lately and the way cost have gone up I get really annoyed paying so much for something I don't really enjoy. That is another thing about Tortillas I love, they won't break your wallet. I definitely recommend.“

“Sunshine Cafe does bring the Sunshine to its dishes. This lowkey, cozy, and hidden location is a gem in the Cathedral City area. This was my first time at this diner and the food was very memorable. I want to go back for seconds, but the portions they offer won't let you fit it all in. This small quiet family inspired diner has the vibe that makes you feel like you are dining at your grandma's or great aunt's house. There are no frills to distract you from the food. This location appears to be very clean for a so called "hole in the wall" type diner. An A+ for me.The staff is very quiet but very welcoming and inviting. We arrived and all the tables were full but they offered us seating at the counter. The counter is low seating, so no high chairs. As soon as some patrons were done eating, we were able to move our seating to one of their cozy booths. This location is conveniently located right off Hwy 111 on Cathedral Canyon Dr. Parking is very limited but they are next to downtown Cathedral City where a parking structure and street parking are available. Once you park, it's just a brief walk to this diner from the parking structure.Sunshine Cafe makes everything homemade and you can definitely taste it. I had the Chicken Fried Steak with hashbrowns, 2 sunny-side up eggs and the homemade country sausage gravy. This was a great flavorful dish. I was really surprised with the creamy gravy that complimented the chicken fried steak. So Good!!! The hashbrowns were fresh and the eggs were served beautifully. Also, this order comes with a side toast of your choosing. The best part is that they took it upon themselves to butter my toast before it came to the table. I was able to enjoy this meal with their fresh squeezed orange juice. My partner had the Belgian Waffle Combo. This dish comes with 1 large waffle topped with whipped cream, 2 sunny-side up eggs, and 2 large sausages, but bacon is also an option upon request. She was able to have this delicious dish with all you can drink hot coffee. They are very attentive with filling up your mug everytime you reach the bottom of the mug.Overall this is a great location to enjoy a homemade meal when you want to indulge your appetite with lots of love and sunshine. They offer a multitude of other food options, other than breakfast items. As we walked up to the diner, we were hit a with a delicious aroma of charbroiled burgers. I will definitely be back to treat myself to what I assume is a mouth watering burger and my partner, well she can come too.“

“Been looking for at least decent BBQ in CV, so had to try Bubbas. Overall it's good and I would go back, but probably to try the burger. We got the sampler platter for 2, which gave us brisket, baby back ribs, pulled pork, sausage and a quarter chicken so we could try most of everything. So first off, don't expect a real smoked BBQ experience here. Didn't detect a smoker used at all in any of the meats, just more or less roasted. The hits I'd say were the brisket and the sausage. Brisket was flavorful without too much fat, the sausage was tasty too. But the chicken, ribs and pulled pork were overcooked. All of it falling off the bone which isn't really a bad thing, but cooked to the point of on the mushy side is. This is also indicative of frozen meat. There was virtually no difference between the pulled pork and the rib meat.Over on the plus side, I did like their sauces. Their basic BBQ sauce was on the sweet side, the spicy bourbon had a come through bourbon flavor, and the sweet chili sauce and mango habanero were also tasty. The two sides we chose were also good. The jalapeno pinto beans were nice and spicy, the mac n cheese was also good, but not the best. Corn bread was dense and not much corn flavor.Service was perfect, attentive but not overbearing.Prices were about average for a BBQ spot. Atmosphere was nice, although trying to convey a roadhouse feeling in a strip mall.Full bar with a good selection of house cocktails and beer.I would go back to try their burger, I'm curious about it. And I'd give the pork another try (small order), to see if they just had an off day.“

“Authentic ingredients, great delicious options. This was a recommendation from a close friend. I tried it and lived it. Staff is very friendly and attentative. I felt welcomed and appreciated. Great drinks and a huge selection of mixed drinks. Family oriented. I recommend the Aguachilles.“
“Stopped in for flour tortillas to go, but my son and I were starving. We decided to sit in for a a meal. He had the chorizo breakfast burrito, and I had Chile Relleño plate. Super delicious! Reasonably priced for Mexican food in comparison to many fancy Mexican restaurants. The girl who took our order, was very friendly and hospitable. I loved how clean the restaurant was inside, and the decor was simple and inviting. I will definitely go back! I wish I would've taken a picture of the food. Take my word for it, it's really good authentic Mexican food.“

“I highly recommend it. I consistently eat their chili cheese fries and recently started to love their chilaquiles. They also have a good gravy that most people love along with their good breakfasts. I eat here a lot. Practically daily... It's that good and consistent. I always come with my caregiving client. He loves it too! Go people go!“

“This definitely isn't a gourmet burger spot, but it's not trying to be. Neither is it a fast-food place. It's a semi-service diner. Order and pay at the counter, and your food is brought to your table (at least when I've been there, when it wasn't super busy). The staff will also refill your drinks and provide needed condiments, etc.I've only been twice. Once for a late breakfast, once for a lunch. The first time I had scrambled eggs and french toast with bacon, and of course, coffee. Pretty decent coffee, in fact. The second time I had a burger, fries, and coke. Both times my meals were really good. The breakfast was like homemade (or better, if you're not great at cooking breakfast), and the burger & fries were like you'd get at a good diner. Both meals were very tasty, and relatively cheap. The breakfast might have been about $10 or $12, but I don't remember for sure. The burger combo, way better than a fast food spot, was $10 and change. And that waswith good, friendly service, with my drinks refilled several times. An absolute bargain!I'm definitely a value oriented guy, so Boy's is definitely on my go-to list for this kind of food.I can't tell you what else is on their menu, besides onion rings that I'll try next time (I'd bet they're great), so check them out for yourselves. I really do expect that everything they serve is really good.“

“The food and service was fantastic -- my spouse and I shared the umami edamame, the agedashi tofu, and the fried seaweed rolls. The seaweed rolls were nice and crispy on the outside and filled with glass noodles on the inside - I'm glad I tried them, but I don't think I'd order them again. For my main dish, I had the Hamachi (yellowtail collar) with some of the cucumber, avocado roll that we shared. My spouse had the vegetable tempura - they were all beautifully presented excellent taste, no complaints. I was disappointed that they weren't offering bibimbap or ramen, butI wouldn't mind going back to try another time. We came in for an early dinner and so they weren't very many people in the restaurant when we first came in, but by the time we left, the restaurant was packed absolutely packed, with people waiting outside to get a seat. My advice is go early.“

“I'm from out of town and came here after a subpar dinner elsewhere. Omg, the meat lovers pizza was so good, there were layers of meat. We also ordered Alfredo pasta with chicken. The meat was tender and the sauce was of perfect consistency. Came back in the daytime and they have a great happy hour and a pretty cool bar atmosphere.“

“Let me get the bad out of the way first. I ordered the hard shell beef tacos and the meat seemed like it had been boiled without much, if any, seasoning and then put in a blender. I've never seen anything like it. I took the taco apart after a couple of bites to make sure there was actual meat in the taco because I couldn't taste it or feel any texture. I love tender meat but this was not tender, it was something else. I ended up taking the taco apart and using the shell and cheese to scoop up their amazing beans and rice and that was lunch. The shells were big, fresh and with just enough crunch and their spicy salsa is great. Also, the service was very friendly and didn't make me feel like I was an inconvenience, big plus!“

“The food was good and reasonably priced. Service was quick as I can for lunch. I did pick up a weird smell as I was near the window. Kinda odd almost as if a dog or someone had peed. Other than that smell popping up a couple times I am giving it 5 stars. Burger and fries were delicious.“
