“Best shrimp tacos I ever had, and my partner was in love with her ribeye tacos!!! We also had the most amazing server today. Overall, while a little expensive, I definitely felt we got the meal we paid for, and right in the middle of the Grove! The great drinks and tres leches cake were also delicious and very well made. We shall be back!“

“Possibly the best and freshest Mexican style seafood in LA Think fine from a James Beard award winning chef and kitchen on the very casual setting of a food court It’s busy so get in early as the line to order grows quickly Plenty of parking with extra space at rear of the car park for the overflow This is a must try if you are in the area“

“When I tell you this place is incredible… on every point! Food amazing, atmosphere is such a vibe, service and staff are so welcoming and accommodating and QUICK!
We ordered the following for 3 people and were stuffed and had plenty of leftovers:
- chips and trio of salsa: I am still mind blown about the variety of salsas, the flavor complexity, the range of spice and ingredients in each. 10/10
- squash blossoms (forgot to take picture): so delightful, stuffed with a cheese mixture and the perfect consistency and crunch on the fried blossom. 10/10
- 3 mole plate: loved trying the different mole options, my palate is not quite as seasoned when it comes to mole so I favored the “traditional” sweeter brown mole. Would just get this one next time (forgot what they called it) 8.7/10
- carne asada plate: an assortment of Oaxacan cheese, grilled cactus, beans, mole enchilada, and the most tender, flavorful and juicy steak. Just wow 10/10
Churros: omg…. Just omg. Melt in your mouth churros, most DELECTABLE Mexican dark chocolate to dip them in… I dream about these 10/10
This is now our go-to Mexican spot. Such an elevated take on our traditional Mexican food outings. Prices were very fair especially for the quality and ambiance of this places picking up a to-go order as we speak.
It’s worth noting that we went with our friend who was born in Mexico City and has had the best of the best Oaxacan food and she was floored by this place!“

“Clean is my utmost priority when I go to eat out. This place is spotless. They take your plates from you as soon as you are finished. They ask politely to remove them. Taco Tuesday is my favorite night to go. 3 tacos about 10 ish. The shrimp n chicken tacos are my favorites. Cool music and not too loud. Must try the cucumber drink easy ice. lol. . I ate so fast I forgot to take photos. But hey. Next Tuesday I’ll play Ellen Von Un.
Dietary restrictions: Fresh rotisserie chicken is delicious. Great flavor.
Parking: I always get a spot. Butbb be on taco Tuesday it’s crowded. But hey. It’s taco Tuesday.
Kid-friendliness: A few kid portion items are reasonably price. Good portions.“

“The best Mexican food I’ve had in LA! I was never a fan of pork or al pastor, but El Chato completely changed my view. The al pastor burrito is probably in the top 10 best things I’ve ever eaten. I will be back again and again.
Vegetarian options: They have a veggie burrito.“

“This is a great example of how LA street mexican food culture is like.
This place has one of the best pastor tacos in LA. Their meats are well seasoned and are not dry. Their salsas have great flavor and heat.
The lines can be long but it is worth the wait. You just can't beat this place when it comes to taste, quality, and price.“

“Original little Mexican restaurant. Rustic and not chic but great food and ambience! The shop is small and only offers bar stools to sit on in the fully visible kitchen, where several chefs are busy preparing and serving up the delicious food.“

“Everything has a high end clean taste. The chips are always hot, crisp and not greasy. Every taco is delicious and what is especially nice is that you don’t feel bloated or heavy after the meal that can happen at other restaurants.“

“Yummm. Hijo De Su Madre has the highest rating out of any vegan restaurant within 20 miles of LA, and I see why. It's definitely worth coming out of your way for if you love vegan businesses. I tried the Yucatan sampler platter, and everything was delicious. What really stood out to me was the Longaniza con Papa taco, which is among the most satisfying tacos I've ever had. The potatoes on it were perfect. Another highlight was the pumpkin seed dip. The quality of all the ingredients is great. And if you love a light dessert, try the Crema De Coco. It's not too sweet, the fruit on top is super fresh, and the consistency of the custard is really enjoyable. Plus, the service here is amazing. And the food was ready very quickly. So if you're reading this, definitely come eat here! Updated from previous review on 2025-04-04“

“Got a few tacos with each meat. Got the Al pastor, suadero, buche and asada. The best was the Al pastor. The char on it is very smoky and nice and tender. There isn't too much of flavor though compared to other al pastor without the juiciness. The suadero was nice n soft and flavorful. The buche was soft. The asada was disappointing. It was just tough and chewy.
The portions of meat for the burrito is pretty substantial and around 11 bucks or so for a very big burrito.
Staff was cooking and also serving and telling what meats they have available since they don't have signage.“

“Excellent food, as always, but in our last two visits, the cochinita tacos were served on cold tortillas. Had to return them to be heated...
Had to walk twice to the counter to get refills of our Maya coffees... ...unusual. Usually, they refill your coffee at your table while eating...
The cochinita plate, the trio yucateco and the coffee were delicious. Best in many many miles around.“

“Great Mexican food!
We love their octopus and sugar cane filets. Very authentic tastes. Only one downside is the kids salmon is a bit too salty. Other than that everything is great with Sol Agave! Recommend this place if visiting Santa Monica!
Tip: REMEMBER to validate your parking ticket to get 90 minutes free parking.
Kid-friendliness: Yes“

“We decided to venture to Komal on a Wednesday. It was about 1:30pm and we were able to walk right up to the counter. We ordered the tlacoyos and a quesadilla of squash blossom. Both were very good and rich in color, texture and flavor. We also had an agua fresca, which you can request with or without ice, and was refreshing.“

“This may be the best food truck in LA. Incredible quality and value. Would give Takuma 10 stars if I could. The okinamiyaki burrito is one of the most original meals I’ve had in LA and so delicious. The chicken sandwich comes with two massive cutlets that are perfectly fried and moist. I’ve also had the churros and they were incredible. Please keep coming back to Playa Vista!“

“Great food.. bad service! Server seemed out of it ? my food came to my table and no utensils. I waited a couple of minutes for the server (only 1 server?) to come around but no luck. I got up and went to the front counter to get what I needed. I was really annoyed at this point. Keep in mind there was only one other table dining in so it wasn't busy or I would've been more considerate.
The food is great but you guys really need to improve your service.“

“I would share a photo but the food is gone. I was late to what I learned is a local favorite and nothing missed.i can’t wait to go back.
Okay so Millionaire Burrito - bomb. The secret is in the steak. Cooked Medium. Also the portioning is perfect. Also toasted? Was it toasted? Idk but wow.
The Mango Juice - to me more like a high quality mango smoothie with no ice. It literally tastes like they picked the mango at the perfect ripeness and they juiced it theirselves
The Churro - admittedly I normally hate the cream inside of a churro, but today I stepped out of my comfort zone and now I’m convinced that homemade churros are the only churros that exist.
Listen, I’m so happy that this is a few blocks away, and that I can try more things. Best Mexican food on this side of town.“

“We were attracted by the bigger than average size tacos on Google and decided to give it a try. We ordered four kinds of tacos including:
- pork cochinata (very spicy)
- beef birria (a bit spicy)
- achiote chicken
- spicy garlic shrimp (a bit spicy)
Overall I like the shrimp most followed by the chicken. They are not as moist as beef or pork but I likes crisp and clean flavor complimented by shredded veggies. The other two meats are full of juice and can be greasy if you are not into fat.
The portion size is ok. $7 per taco is definitely in the expensive side but hey this is playa vista. The flavors are a modern take on the taco. If you are looking for legit down to earth traditional tacos, this place is not for you.“

“Hidden gem of West LA! Discovered this place recently and I get the shrimp ceviche here 2-3 times a week… and often order something else. It’s reasonably priced, super fast, the staff is chill… it’s authentic as it gets. The delicious ceviche reminds me of being in Mazatlan.“

“The service is friendly and fast and delightful. My daughter loves their salsa for chips …it’s the only salsa she likes. Service is so sincere and attentive. “Simply a warm place with delicious dishes. The furnishings are simple and functional but the loving and competent service makes this place special. You pay relatively little for the food by American standards, but that doesn't affect the quality. We even ate here twice.“

“First off, Terrific Customer Service at the Long Beach, CA location! The manager is amazing. So helpful with recommendations when asked, provides great detail, and is so enthusiastic about the incredible menu. Tocaya at 2nd & PCH has lovely, fresh, bright, clean food. The menu is unique and flexible. You get to choose the protein you want, the cheese you want, whether or not you want your dish to be vegan. So many options and super tasty food! My friend really enjoyed the VEGAN Asada & VEGAN Tinga tacos. I loved my Taco Salad with gluten-free, battered & fried mahi-mahi (that was so, so scrumptious) with Queso Fresco. I swapped and got the cilantro lime dressing (instead of the roasted poblano dressing) and my bowl of goodies was delicious. We shared and relished the Street Corn and the (VEGAN) Queso & Chips. We were both shocked to find the Queso was VEGAN; it’s that good! We also tried the vegan Crema, just to check it out — SO yummy. AND the obviously homemade chips were mouthwatering. Tocaya has seasonal Sangria selections, beer, and other interesting drink options. They’ve got indoor and outdoor seating… and I recommend you head over soon!“
