“I adore this place. Simple, straightforward, fresh, high quality and very reasonably priced. It has quickly become my go to not only for sushi but lunch in general.

It is tucked in to an unremarkable shopping center and take out only, also beware that they are a small place with a tiny staff so sometimes they cannot take orders. Initially, this frustrated me as the first three times I tried to order there was an issue.

Since then, the staff recognizes me and there hasn't been a single issue. They are extremely friendly and efficient. The food is excellent, prices beyond competitive for the quality.“

“Just went here yesterday my aunt Erica recommended this place to me and can I just it was absolutely divine! The fish was fresh and melts in your mouth. The plating Is fresh and unique compared to local sushi spots. We got vegetables tempura and edemame for appetizer and it was all delicious fresh warm crispy. For Main course we got the deluxe combination and it was amazing so fresh and delicious. This will my forever spot! Can't wait to come back!

Also shout out to the server I wasn't able to get his name but he was very polite and was on it the whole time.

“Fantastic, in today's world when you seem to "pay more for less" this place does not skip on the fish at all. Many sushi places will try to give you more rice than sushi, not this place. One of best bang for your buck I have seen in the greater Los Angeles area. Nice cozy family run restaurant good atmosphere and good service“

The sushi rolls have about twice the amount of fish in them than other local places (and we have tried them all). Wonderful specialty rolls and all the traditional favorites! You can't go wrong here! Even has many non-sushi options.

“This place is under new management. The previous owners were good but they re did this place and their menu. There are a lot more options and everything is fantastic. The chef/owner made the best sushi!!! And he was really nice and friendly. The waiter was nice and quick with our orders. We live right down the street so now we can come and eat even more often than before.“

“This was my third time going to makomae. I like the sashimi. They are fresh. It’s a little on the pricey side but worth every bite.
The first time I was there, I tried the beef tongue that I didn’t care for.
The second time I was there, I ordered the omakase. The server told me what fish I would be getting. One of them was Bonita. I never had sashimi Bonita and knew that I didn’t like cooked Bonita. When I tried the sashimi Bonita, I still didn’t like it..the rest of the sashimi was very good though.“
