“Server and bus person were extremely rude, wouldn't clear the table before we sat. When we asked to have the table wiped down we were snapped at and spoken meanly to. The server presented the check but wasn't clearing the table even when we asked so we could finish our drinks. Just wanted his money and completely ignored us. Although the food was good I'll never go back because the servers were so terrible.“

“I have come here to celebrate many special occasions. The food and cocktails are excellent, and the service is flawless. The amount of food served for dinner omakase is perfect, but I can never turn down an extra nigiri or two after the set menu is completed.“

“Great sushi, perfectly prepared and presented. So glad I walked a few more blocks to go there. Small with a very friendly staff (my 2 Buddhi’s) made for enjoyable experience. Come to town at least once a year; plan to be back.“

“If you are missing Japanese authentic sushi, Sakana is the place to go. I ordered Omakase Sushi Nigiri ($35 as of August 2025). All sushis will meet your expectations, including taste, freshness (I believe this is the most critical factor in judging a sushi restaurant, and Sakana met my standards), and presentation. I did not expect to find fresh, high-quality sea urchin.
If you're looking for tasty side dishes, I recommend Nanbanduke or Hamachi-kama. On the healthy side, you may try Eggplant Nibitashi or Ohitashi. If you try rolls, I recommend the California Roll.
This may not be the fancy, top-end restaurant for your first date. Instead, you want to go there every Tuesday for a cozy atmosphere and affordable fresh fish. I ordered hot green tea, which was filled constantly and very hot, a tradition at Japanese sushi restaurants. Small details matter, and I liked them all.
Easy five-star.“

“Excellent sushi, great ambience, wonderful service. The best sushi restaurant in San Francisco. I love sushi and eat sushi a lot. This place is by far the best and we had a wonderful experience. The chef Ono san knows so much about fish and sushi. You can trust him to serve you the entire omakase menu. I will make sure to come back more again and again.“

“I was seated right away at Ninja Sushi, which was a great start. The food came out impressively fast without sacrificing quality. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The service was friendly and efficient, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m craving sushi!“

“This seems to be a popular spot in the neighborhood, due to the flavor and price point of the menu items. I dined in with my son and his girlfriend and they love it. We had the Romeo & Juliet, BTS Roll, Caterpillar Roll, and Agedashi Tofu. My favorites were the Romeo & Juliet and the Agedashi Tofu. The staff was polite and attentive. I'm glad we didn't have to wait for a table. I really enjoyed spending time with my son and his girlfriend at one of their favorite eateries.“

“I grew up eating raw fishes that got fished out in the morning so my standards are maybe high here.
I took the Sashimi Chef's choice and a green tea. The decoration of the room and the plate were very beautiful and peaceful, the sashimi were ok+.
The slices were not perfectly cut so I had to manually separate them, and I got mostly fatty parts, I really prefer lean parts.
Overall, not very amazed by the taste but it wasn't bad.
Paid 55,6 dollar after tax.“

“Best sushi in the city. The chefs are super talented and the waitstaff are always great. Food is top notch. Good selection for different fish and apps. I usually go for omakase, but sometimes the kira kira or ninja roll. The atmosphere is not too loud. You can usually find parking within a couple blocks.“

“Just popped in for lunch today and the environment was so sophisticated and relaxing. There was jazz in the radio and soft lighting and I was so happy to be out of the rain. The dragon roll was the best I’ve ever had and the service was excellent. What a hidden gem- I’ll be back!“

“Beef Udon is a must-try! Sure, the rolls are great and everything, but they’ve really dialed in their beef udon. The broth is amazing—clean, balanced, with only what’s absolutely necessary, nothing more, nothing less. Even the golden onions feel like little jewels, adding just the right touch of sweetness. The highest compliment I can give is that the dish’s clarity of intention perfectly matches their precision of execution.“

“This is a great little place to have sushi for lunch. I ordered a salmon teriyaki box and there was a generous portion of salmon, rice, salad, and veggies. My husband had a sushi box and said that it was very good. The prices are reasonable considering the location. The restaurant's very small so there's not much seating but it's possible to use a couple of picnic tables outside.“

“Miso soup was good; not super flavorful but at least not overly salty like so many. Donburi was served in a flat plate with protein on top, rather than in the traditional bowl. I like the change; easier to get a mixed chopstick full of protein and rice. There is a lovely outdoor space where you could enjoy watching the bike path traffic but unfortunately it was not usable during my visit due to yellow jackets.“

“What a wonderful place! We're very picky with our sushi, and this was great. The fish were all really good cuts, and the rolls were well made. The servers were also super friendly. I recommend their eel (donburi or rolls were both good textures/flavors)“

“Consistently delicious poke! Not fancy, but always fresh and really fairly priced. I love getting the build-your-own poke bowl, plenty of sauce and flavor without being overwhelming. The spam musubis are all great too (I’ve tried the classic, fried, and spicy). It’s family-owned and operated, which makes me even happier to support them. Perfect for takeout, though I’ll sometimes dine in for lunch (just note there isn’t a ton of seating).“

“Was here on Christmas Eve, and the food, service, and ambience couldn’t have been better. Had clay pot dishes, both beef and tofu, assorted nigiri, Dragon roll - all wonderfully fresh, edamame, a shrimp tempura roll, and sake. We we all delighted. Thanks for adding to a beautiful Christmas Eve!“

“Dinner started off strong with flavorful chicken and beef skewers, and the salmon kama was a highlight—perfectly cooked and delicious.
The rolls were less impressive. The Rock & Roll and Spider rolls were drenched in eel sauce, which overpowered everything. I’m always a bit cautious when sushi comes heavily sauced—it feels like something’s being covered up. The sushi rice was also a bit soggy.
The uni, saba, and hamachi sushi were all fresh and enjoyable, though the uni portions were smaller than expected.
Bill came out to over $150. A little pricey for what we got, but with smarter ordering, I’d give it another try.
4 stars“

“Oma Sushi is a good spot, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The fish was fresh — clean, bright, the way it should be. The wait staff, engaging and attentive, absolutely on point. But the rice, that’s where it fell down. It lacked bite, a bit flat, and I prefer it warm to carry the fish properly. Sushi is all about balance, and when the rice doesn’t shine, the whole dish suffers. A solid effort, but not quite there“

“My boyfriend took me here for my birthday and it was the best experience ever! The chef makes EVERYTHING from scratch, even soy sauce and vinegar, and was so friendly and told us about his experiences growing up in HK and Japan. The food was soooo delicious!! Warning, it is a random shop out in the open in a mall, but I think it adds to the charm, just like in Japan where they have omakase in the subway stations ☺️☺️☺️☺️ Will be back!!“

“Best sushi, hands down. I haven’t been to enough sushi places in SF to say it’s the best in the city. But what I can tell you it’s the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life. Be patient. It’s just mom and pop behind the counter, but it’s worth it.“
