“We had asked for (in reservation )an inside table because the weather was quite hot. Upon entering the noise level was incredibly loud. The hostess apologized as there was a birthday party going on and we were seated in a closed off area that was much better, and a fan made it quite comfortable. Good service.“

“This place offers delicious food coming out of an adorable (and clean) sushi spot, and has a positive, communicative staff.
I purchased the Half-Baked roll (to-go), which I suppose is their version of a Lion King roll, except that it doesn’t have the cucumber. It has avacado.
Notes: There was more than an adequate amount of wasabi and ginger with my order, which I appreciate. Their to-go presentation and takeout packaging overall is one the cleanest, and best, I’ve ever seen.
Thank you,
C Mars
10/30/24 update: i ordered a roughly $12 with tax salmon avocado roll after hitting the gym at 24hr van ness and it was delicious and refreshing, a bit lighter when I don’t want the spicy mayo sauce on the half-baked. ?“

“This is a really upscale place that only serves omakase for $250 per person. when you factor in tax and tip it comes to $350 per person. although the service and quality are very good, I have has this type of omakase in various places around the country and I think the price is way too much. I think it is worth $150 per person. the meal was great - I Just don't think it's worth the price. the Nigiri was excellent. wasn't a fan of the desert and several of the appetizers I didn't like either. the quality of the fish is amazing.“

“Unassuming- soon to be addictive. So just about the best kept Secret on Union Street- I am sure to come back, again and again and it is just hiding in plain sight! restaurant. If you can't get to Japan try this- Excellent quality, unusual rolls and exceptionally fresh- crunchy and tasty. High quality. High end details. Like the chef and his no nonsense approach. One Wish- that they would include side of wasabi though with to-go orders.“

“A true gem in downtown SF! Came on a week night and was half full, with some takeouts here and there. May not need to make a reservation if weeknights. I was astounded by the variety of the sushi rolls, sashimi, and the appetizers. The octopus wasabi and agedashi tofu were fantastic, the octopus was very fresh I could eat a big bowl! I devoured my sashimi, sushi and roll set and wanted to come back for more!“

“It was our first wedding anniversary and had the best time here. The vibe, the chef, the service, and of course the food were top-notch. I would never forget this place and everybody including the chef was very respectful and kind to us. Arigato gozaimasu Chef Toshiaki Ono and Sushi Hashiri. It was an unforgettable night. Thank you so much for everything.“

“This is the best sushi restaurant on Pier 39 in California. The prices are not expensive and we only use fish supplied that day. This is the only sushi restaurant run by a Korean, and you can even eat kimchi if you speak well.
Parking: Paid street parking is available at the end of Pier 39th Street, but is not recommended.“

“A wonderful evening at Okoze with Jason, doing a vast taster session for us organised by some amazing friends.
Some of the freshest ingredients I’ve ever tasted!
From crab, to tuna, to prawn, to scallop, to wagyu, to pickled plum and a wild array in between this was a fantastic evening and wonderful meal. A special shout out to the prawn tempura we started with, so crunchy but so light! Plus the wagyu that melted like butter!
Highly recommend a visit to Okoze for truly beautiful and tasty food.“

“My sister took me here for my first time because I'm from out of town. The head sushi chef was a great character! He knew my sister and was very engaging and treated us to some wonderful selections. I would highly recommend this place. We sat at the bar. They could have been a little quicker on the sake ? but we were pretty quickly consuming it.“

“After lunch, I was surprised that they didn't have more people eating in this establishment. This is a great place for a date or to come alone. The food is amazing 10/10. We had the omakase nigiri. 10 pieces of pure magic. The ramen just was amazing the best i had in san Francisco. The staff was amazing too. Definitely give them a visit. 10/10“

“EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD IDK WHAT ELSE TO SAY!!! we came on a saturday night and was lucky to get a table after like 10-15 mins. atmosphere was alright but food was great. 2 of us ordered like 40 nigiris and 5 rolls and were so full after. you have to wait 10 mins before you order more nigiris and there is a 90-min time limit but it's not a big deal at all. totally recommend!!!“

“Wonderful sushi restaurant that’s been in Larkspur for many years for a reason. Chef, John Wayne and his wife Vanna do a great job of providing the freshest fish at reasonable prices in a cool family atmosphere. The Ferrari of sushi restaurants in Marin!“

“My wife and I had dinner here, we selected the omakase course dinner. This restaurant is in the omakase style, which means you leave it up to the chef to decide each course. If you look at their website you'll see the number of course choices. There are only 6-8 places so prebook, sometimes as much as two weeks.
This was some of the best sushi I've ever had and THE best waygu. The fish is very fresh and the chef has several home made sauces, pickles and clever presnetations to amuse your taste buds.
We will definitely be back“

“The best sushi I’ve ever eaten (huge pieces!), the lowest prices I’ve ever seen ($5.50 for sake and hamachi), and the most friendly family staff I’ve ever experienced. It’s no wonder this place has been operating for 25+ years. So good I have to go back the very next day.“

“I inhaled most of the sushi. I called 10 minutes before they closed for pickup asking for a really good special roll. I remember she said something about tuna. I of course said yes as long as there’s no cream cheese or bell peppers. The sweet lady was patient and took my order.
Holy cow! Whatever this is with tuna inside and tuna outside… it’s freaking delicious! Kudos for a perfect roll. The rice is perfect, the tuna is perfect and whatever else is in there is perfect!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! You’re awesomest!“

“Pacific catch can be relied on to have decent fish dishes at a good price point. I do feel like the quality varies a lot though from visit to visit. This time the sashimi trio I usually get was very skimpy on the fish portion size while they gave me tons of rice that was cold. My husband's salmon was quite good. The hostess tried to seat us at the worst table in the place when good options for 2 were available. I hate this particular restaurant game but persist & ask politely to be be re seared, which she did. All in all decent but not as good as they have been.“
