“We had an amazing time at sushi ran, one of the best sushi places we have been to, great ambience and service, highly recommend it.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Maki , edamame, seaweed salad, agedashi tofu veg , no miso soup add that had fish broth, lots of vegetables options.“
“It's a nice small restaurant in a quite side street, where you can easily find free parking. :-) I think it's run by an elderly couple. The food was good, decent price but on the more expensive side. I had sushi, sashimi, rolls and a few other food items. Overall the food was satisfying. I enjoyed the quite atmosphere and the surrounding areas as well.“
“AMAZING, fresh, yummy, terrific vibe, not loud. So much funWait staff are extremely attentive. Good spot for a date, solo at sushi bar or smallish 4-8 group dining. Steet parking or $20 for secure lot next door.Vegetarian options: Everything“
“Ken is the ultimate omakase experience. With just 7 seats, one enters and will immediately feel special. Ken is gracious and so welcoming, sweetly beaming as he shares details about each dish as he presents to you. The entire evening was exquisite - tastes we have never experienced before in a beautiful serene and modern atmosphere. We highly recommend Ken and cannot wait to return.“
“Incredible flavors and a lovely, cozy dining experience. We felt so well taken care of by Tricia and our sushi chef and they made celebrating our anniversary really memorable. The unique flavor combinations and quality of the fish were so good. Some of our favorites from the oki: the ora king salmon, the sea bream, the otoro and the sashimi salad with the shiso flowers. The chef explained each course and paced our meal so we never felt rushed. The sake selection is awesome as well with really unique and different flavors like the takacho "regal hawk" that would be great on its own for sipping and the very plummy ume suppai. Next time I might pick the chisai and try more supplements. We left feeling comfortably full and satisfied.“
“It was always pleasant to experience chef making your the nigiri in front of you.My favorite dish from the menu was:Honmaguro Toro Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Anago Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Kamasu Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Hojicha Ice Cream ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Recommended to visit this restaurant to experience high quality Japanese cuisine!“
“We had a wonderful experience! The staff were professional, friendly, informative, and even helped cater to our specific dining needs as a family. A la carte extras (from same omakase menu) could be ordered and were every fairly priced. We would 100% recommend.“
“This sushi place is simply outstanding! The food is spectacular! It’s an authentic Japanese sushi, not an American version of sushi. The place is not cheap but it’s worth every dollar! Great place for a special occasion! Highly recommended!“
“Ju Ni in San Francisco is an exceptional dining experience that deserves no less than five stars. Specializing in Japanese cuisine, the restaurant offers an intimate and meticulously crafted menu that showcases the finest ingredients and culinary skills. Holding two Michelin stars for two years is a testament to its consistent quality and innovation. The chef at Ju Ni is not only professional but also engaging and interesting, adding a unique touch to the dining experience. This place is a must-visit for anyone seeking an unparalleled sushi experience in San FranciscoP.S. I believe the dinner menu starts around 200 per person. Adding drink and some other items, it’s around 300$ per person.“
“One of my favorite sushi experiences ever, and I've been to Japan. The service was so exceptional that I almost started to feel bad. The food was fresh, innovative, and incredibly fresh. The vibe and ambiance were great. 10/10 would highly recommend if you can afford it.“
“My first visit to this new Kuma location. If you enjoy good sushi Kuma is the place to go in San Francisco. We go to Kuma every time I'm in San Francisco to see my daughter and I feel like the food and experience is better each time. I highly recommend the tuna collar. I've never had it anywhere else and it is awesome!“
“Ordered the Barley Taps roll and salmon, yellowtail, kinmedai, torched scallop nigiri. Enjoyed all of it! The quality of the fish was really good, my favorite being the kinmedai, ordering it twice.Walked in around 6pm on a Wednesday and there was space. Seems like a great neighborhood spot, not too uptight, but with quality Nigri.“
““Fusion” omakase. Expensive but very well executed, everything we were served was delicious. I recommend sitting at the sushi bar to get the full experience, our chefs at tables 9 and 10 were fun and engaging throughout service. The sake omakase was underwhelming, but YMMV, our drinks server was busy as he was serving the entire joint, on a different night, it might have been better.“
“Wow. An incredible omakase experience! Had the 18-course dinner, sitting at the chefs counter and I could not be more impressed by the quality and creativity of the food presented! Each course was distinct, delicious, flavorful, and there was nothing “basic” or “common” that was served. My favorites were the chawan-mushi, otoro, uni on uni, Hokkaido scallop and uni, Kyoto-style pressed saba, kelp-cured flounder fin… and more!A few minor critiques: the wagu sukiyaki was tender and delicious, but tasted too sweet. The miso soup was overly salty. And the yuzu sorbet had nice flavor but was served hard like an ice cube.Would definitely return to dine again. Recommended.“
“A phenomenal omakase experience. The customer service and food is top notch. Recommended for either those who fly solo or are looking for an intimate dinner date. Not cheap by any means, but you get what you pay for; which, in this case, is the quality and experience. Reservations are recommended since there are only 12 to 16 seats - walk in without a reservation at your own risk. Will be visiting again at some point.“
“An amazing omakase experience in SF and reasonably priced. All the sushi was so fresh and paired well with the different flavors. Even their non-sushi dishes were wonderful and their ice dessert was amazing. Make a reservation because they’re very small and fill up quickly“
“Truly for "Friends Only!" Ten seats at an "L"-shaped raw bar. Got to chat and share experiences with all the guests AND the staff. Made a lot of "Friends" tonight and got to share dining at its finest and food of superior quality and taste!“
“Their selection is great. It’s one of the few sushi places where they have makimono that emphasizes fish over rice + other fillings (not that I don’t also love the standard American sushi options, but it’s nice to have a leaner, simpler option). The veggie side dishes are also amazing - the eggplant is charred and juicy but not drowning terribly in oil, and okra is also really good. They also do delivery, which makes it a great casual option.“
“I've been twice and it's been wonderful both times. The service is great. They're nonjudgmental, are happy to answer questions and give recommendations, all sushi we had was delicious, the scallops and crab risotto are ?. And it's a chill atmosphere. Love this “
“We decided to visit Sura Sushi for a casual workday late dinner. Our experience was nothing short of delightful. We started with Buri Daikon soup, which provided comforting warmth.Opting for a selection of Nigiri and Sashimi, we were thoroughly impressed. Each piece showcased the freshness and quality of the ingredients. From the Chu Toro to the O Tor, Engawa to Sunazuri, and Hotate, every bite was a symphony of flavors and freshness. Highly recommend this place.“
“MUST visit omakase restaurant in San Francisco! This is a perfect omakase restaurant that deserves a rating higher than five stars. Our chef is incredibly passionate and friendly, and the service staff are also very accommodating. The overall dining atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing.Everything was handled perfectly and the seasoning of seafood, allowed us to taste the natural sweetness of the ingredients. It's a truly amazing dining experience! Would definitely revisit again!“
“Hand Roll Project is a culinary gem where innovation meets tradition. Situated in Mission, this intimate eatery invites guests to indulge in hand rolls crafted with inventive ingredients while enjoying a front-row seat to the chef's expertise. The experience at Hand Roll Project is as delightful as the rolls themselves. The counter seating allows diners to witness the meticulous artistry of the chefs firsthand, creating an intimate and engaging atmosphere. What sets Hand Roll Project apart is its commitment to culinary innovation. Each hand roll is a fusion of unexpected flavors and textures, resulting in a truly unforgettable dining experience.During my visit, I was blown away by the creativity and craftsmanship evident in each roll.In conclusion, Hand Roll Project offers more than just delicious food; it's a culinary revelation that will leave you craving more. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or simply seeking a unique dining experience, Hand Roll Project delivers on every front.“
“My server clearly forgot to put in the roll I ordered and blamed the kitchen. My whole family was done eating and my roll arrived after everyone was already done. No apology, no comp. We own a restaurant as well and this is something that would never fly.“
“I can’t believe I never reviewed this restaurant. We eat here regularly at the restaurant and for takeout. The food is delicious for adults and for children. My son really loves the salmon teriyaki and the veggie sushi; I love their unique appetizers / tapas and their sushi. Reliable and one of the best restaurants in Castro and Noe.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly“
“Walked in to the quiet and unassuming location and left sated and with an overly full belly!I began with a spicy tako salad - a perfect mix of tako, cucumber, seawead and a sprig of mint. Enough spice to feel for a few minutes afterwards while my sushi was being prepared.First up was a trio of Salmon belly, Hamachi belly, and Toro. Each one was more delicated and delicious than the previous. Next were two great pieces of Ama Ebi with perfectly fried heads. The Sexy Roll followed - a mixture of Hamachi and avacado topped with more Hamachi, Green tobiko and jalapeno. My desert round was Mackerel, Scallop, and the Buddhilicous Roll. The service was exceptional and the value for what I paid was outstanding. My only negative was self-inflicted and that's because I only found this spot on my last free evening in town.I'll be back for sure...“
“Incredible food and flavor. Very accommodating forwards GF diet and good service. We save this place for more special events because it's pricy but you definitely get what you pay for. The restaurant is a vibe not too loud it has a nice slightly casual elegance and a clean restroom. The beef tataki is a must order it's our favorite thing one the menu and when I go everyone orders their own beef tataki appetizer. Salmon sashimi melts in you mouth and anything they make scallops is delicious.“
“Ordered pickup online but accidentally ordered to the other location. They were super kind and remade the order for me here. They even called the other location to confirm my order because I couldn’t find my email. Can’t wait to go back!“
“First time at Rocket Sushi.I had the Tonkatsu Curry at my friend's recommendation and it was delicious. My friend ordered the udon and ate every bit.Service was good. We dined on a Monday so the atmosphere was pretty mellow and everyone seemed to be having a good time.Would definitely go back.“
“It was such a wonderful and enjoyable experience. Roger and the rest of the staff are incredibly loving and friendly. We could not have asked for a more memorable experience. Thank you so much for making us feel so loved and cared for!Ask for the sushi bar seats - you will not regret it! It is your very own omasake experience, but better because in addition to really good sushi, you get to enjoy Roger's company. Highly recommend the aged tuna, Norwegian mackerel, and Wagyu nigiri! Also, make sure to leave some room for their in-house ice cream and desserts!“
“Sashimi and brussel sprouts were excellent! Very fresh and full of flavor. The rolls were also fresh but we didn't love the flavor combinations. They do have several spicy options and if you like the heat then you should give them a try! Staff were friendly and the service was quick.“
“We came here for late night dinner - fresh sashimi is 10 out of 10 ?Vegetarian options: I saw some vegetarian options on the menuParking: It’s always plenty of parking around or cross streetKid-friendliness: Yes, big dining room and I saw high chairs for little kids tooWheelchair accessibility: Yes, they have big dining room so wheelchair can move freely and bathroom is also big and it’s ok for wheelchair“
“Both the main dish and the side dish are a sure-fire meal every time. I was surprised that the restaurant was empty this time, even though it is difficult to make a reservation. This is the extent of the impact of people not coming to downtown SF. I have to support you!“
“A good sushi place with a rotating seasonal selection of uncommon fish. The fish is fresh, the price reasonable and the sake selection is good. Service is a bit slow though when we were there. It took about an hour for 7 types of nigiri to be served. Seems like the chefs were overwhelmed with orders even when the restaurant is just full, not packed.“
“A small casual sushi restaurant on geary. They have a variety of rolls and appetizers. They dont serve bento boxes, but do serve some rice bowls. Service was quick and we noticed a lot of people ordering to go. We ordered edamame, chicken karage, CA roll, SF roll, caterpillar roll, cherry blossom roll, and rainbow roll. Our food came out quickly. The edamame came out hot and topped with salt. The chicken karage was a decent portion for 2 with fairly big pieces and came with spicy mayo sauce. The rolls were fresh and had good amount of fish. The cherry blossom roll was our favorite. We kept our expectations low but we were thoroughly impressed by the food, especially with affordable prices. Highly recommend this place and will be coming again soon.“
“The atmosphere is extremely elegant, the fish is high quality and well prepared and presented. I have been to over 30 sushi restaurants in the city of SF and Otoro Sushi is literally the best quality sushi experience you can get for the price. The service is always pleasant. I cannot compliment this restaurant enough.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are on par in quality and artisanal skill with the fish dishes. One of the only places where the vegetarian rolls feel like a real consideration rather than an afterthought. I take all my vegetarian friends here. The futomaki and the pickles are a highlight. I genuinely get the futomaki over fish rolls sometimes.“
“Great food, amazing service. Our reservation had a delay as there was a large table who stayed longer than anticipated leaving no open tables to fill our reservation and the manager went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable, she even provided us with a round of drinks as well as edamame while we waited for a table to clear up. With such a small dining area there is only so much they can do when a large table stays for an extended period of time, so I understand that the delay wasn't anyone working at the restaurant's fault, but I appreciate that they went out of their way to ensure that we felt like we were taken care of. Will definitely be bringing friends and family here when they are in town!A great small business that deserves every dollar they earn!“
“Finally getting around to this but wow! One of the best omakase experiences I’ve had outside of Japan. From the friendly greeting by the staff to the manager-san checking on and serving the guests alongside the waitstaff, the service is indicative of true Japanese hospitality. We decided on a delicious bottle of Junmai Daiginjo Sake to accompany the Valentine’s day menu! The fish was an amazing experience around the world with fish from Japan, NZ, Spain, Jeju and beyond. All expertly put together by the chef who had a great personality! It’s my personal preference when you can meet and chat with the chef as he prepares the course. Also for all the sushi lovers, the fresh ginger was so good we had to get refills because we kept snacking on it.“

“It is safe to say that my mission to find the best chicken teriyaki in the city of SF has been accomplished. Ike's chicken is grilled and has the charred consistency and taste to it. Their chicken is juicy, tender, and NOT slimey. This, along with their sauce, their salad, their miso soup, and even their asparagus, makes this a divine dining experience. Ike's Japanese Kitchen is an SF gem ? ✨️ <3“
“I came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. She had Nirigi Omakase and I had Chef's Omakase. It's only 10 bucks difference. Nirigi Omakase included uni. Chef included strawberry mochi but no uni. The sashimi of fish was fresh and soft. It could melt in your mouth. Toro is my fav. I also ordered wagyu and unagi. Of course, the wagyu beef was tasty, which I prefer to eat it last, so the taste could last longer in your mouth. I love unagi, so it was a must to order. This place was the third restaurant where I could truly have fresh eel. It was so good and I wish I had ordered one more. Very high quality of sashimi. Excellent services. Everything was good, except one point. The suggested tips included taxes. Basically you pay tips for taxes if you go with their suggestion tips. That needs to be changed. Anyways I would come back for more. Thank you.“
“Need to go back. Arrived and saw the sign on door said closed. Waved through the glass at worker inside, he came and opened the door and welcomed us in. Regardless of the fact it said “reservations only” on the door, because there was only one other party eating, I think he was okay with us dining. The entire operation was one man whose service and food was simple and satisfying. No frills. For the price is it unbeatable. Atmosphere feels like you found a small sushi spot in a corner of Tokyo. Really great experience.“
“Just had the absolute best time at Big Fish House! Not only was the food delicious - I had the incredible Omakase (19 items, 150$) while my friends had multiple rolls including double toro and the kumomoto oysters which were fantastic - but the entire experience was so fun! Julie is the owner and is pursuing her passion in cooking / sushi and provided all the pieces of sushi amazingly. Additionally Wendy, a longtime friend of Julie I learned, is so friendly and patient and provides great recommendations and drinks! The restaurant was always visited by regulars who knew the staff with open space and just great vibes. We stayed way longer than anticipated just because it was so fun - will definitely be back soon!!“
“The atmosphere reminds me of Japan. The food tastes better than a lot of food I've had in Japan. Lunch or dinner served with tea, miso soup & rice. I love the Katsu chicken comes with a salad, too. All for $12.00!!! Might as well order the special or sushi with these prices. Making me hungry as I type! The service is attentive without being intrusive. The TV display and music were perfect. Clean tasting, fresh food, and clean restaurant. Not Zen feeling, but a genuine casual dining Japanese experience.Parking: Street meters until 6pm, always parking in front.Wheelchair accessibility: Street level entryway.“
“Incredible sushi!I am super critical about my food choices - especially sushi. It's truly my comfort food after a long day or when I want to relax so choosing the perfect place is important. I always fear that the sushi quality may not be fresh or the rolls that the restaurant makes are way too saucy and not appetizing but Sushi Chef blew my expectations out of the water.I went with the Lion King roll and the Rainbow roll both of which were 10/10. *Disclaimer: I am celiac so choosing gluten-free rolls is very important.* I called the restaurant to ask for what substitutions I should make and the lady that answered was SO kind and so helpful. She informed me that I should go ahead and order anything I'd like and the chef will ensure that there's no gluten. They even packed a special container of gluten-free soy sauce and spicy mayo.If you're looking for a sushi place and confused with the hundreds of options on DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc. - just do yourself a favor and stop the search.. order Sushi Chef now.◡̈“
“We had such a fabulous experience last night on our first visit to Elephant Sushi. The food is amazing--innovaative, delicious and presented so beautifully. We had the flaming sea bass (of course!) Be sure to order that. Also Hamachi kama (collar), salmon miso soup, albacore tatami, Walu Sashimi. The fish is unbelievably fresh! We can't wait to go back to try other dishes. Our server and our hostess were lovely, incredibly helpful and attentive. And the ambience was special--plenty of large windows with light and air and a fresh decor with vibes of fishing boats. All in all, a really wonderful evening that we will repeat many times. Don't miss this place!“
“Sushi Zen has good food and their prices are fair. Quick Service and a cozy atmosphere. Winter wonderland(imitation crab and tempura) is a good roll for folks that don’t like raw rolls but like the sushi idea. My favorite roll is a dragon roll and I usually order those two rolls when I do take out.Parking: Parking is currently not great at all because of the Taraval construction going on as of 2/16/24Kid-friendliness: Tempura items and bento boxesWheelchair accessibility: Accessible but not to much room inside.“
“Super fun vegan sushi menu. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Hours were a bit hard to find online during the soft opening but emailing the staff works well.My friend and I got a good laugh about them not having hot water to serve instead of tea (which seems to be free and super caffeinated !) and then going to the bathroom and the sign read "extremely hot water!" I'm definitely coming back, maybe with my thermos of hot water ?Vegetarian options: Lots of rolls and maki. Vegan dragon roll and cherry blossom roll were the favs!“
“The food here was amazing! Highly recommend. We came in for a late seating so it wasn’t overly busy. The maki rolls were very unique and extremely delicious. Get the bluefin tuna sashimi, this is the best dish I’ve had at any sushi restaurant.“
“Wow....walk away sushi... No seats. Just to-go Fresh hamachi Tasty unagi I am in effing heaven! Open one on my side of the park, buddy. Ambiance is to go. Bruh.... Clean Friendly owner/sushi chef. Bottom line - good Sushi. I had nigiris to go. One order is 3 pieces, my friends....not 1 Not 2, But three pieces!!! JYW highly recommends! Tell Taka the sushi chef hello He used to own and operate in Japantown for a couple of decades !“
“Marcelo was an amazing server and staff, as well as all the other staffs that brought out meat, refilled our drinks, and clear our table. We were here to celebrate our anniversary and wouldn't have done it at a better spot than this. The meat had a great selection to choose from.“
