“The Duck Confit Spliff is a great representation of the Vietnamese & French cultures “wrapped” up all in one dish. And for a more traditional & fun way to eat it, you definitely have to use your hands. My only wish was for a little more duck in the spliff.

With the Ebelskivers, the concept was again brilliant. The garlic emulsion creates an intense garlic flavor but in a light and airy way. But like takoyaki, I wish there was more escargot in the batter to remind me more of that chewy feel from the traditional dish.

The surprise star of our meal was the Royale with Cheese. The wagyu had great flavor and char. And the sesame seed bun held up well for this napkin-required burger. But those pickles were amazing nuggets of necessity to add balancing acidity to the richness of the dish.

We definitely want to try the Duck Breast, the Spanish Octopus, and the Prix Fixe Meal on future visits. A final thanks to Chef & Curtis for the friendly service and explanation of the menu.“

“Another fabulous evening. We went early on New Years Eve. They had just changed the menu for the new year, so we ended up with a bottle of champagne- Pierre Jouet blanc de blanc - - first time for that one and it was great. Their wedge salad is yummy and big enough for 2 to share, with an interesting presentation . Order it and find out for yourself. Husband had the whole branzino, grilled, with beluga lentils and grilled vegetables -another lovely presentation. I had the grilled octopus, served as a warm salad, with a melange of vegetables.: every bite was a bit different. They cut the octopus in bite sized pieces, so no wrestling with it to cut it up. Flavors were interesting - each bite a different combo of ingredients. Dessert was their interesting baklava cheesecake and a combo of ice creams : mexican and one with cardomon flavor - both were worth the calories! Service by Gabriel was top notch and fun. We'll be back .“

“Amazing Japanese cuisine in Costa Mesa, CA. This place is one of the best Japanese restaurants in all of Orange County. The interior style resembles what all Japanese restaurants should look like, and most importantly, the food and service was top notch. “We had a late dinner at the Yard House after a Christmas lights cruise in the bay on a Monday in December. The Yard House serves dinner later. We had a an appetizer of queso with meat. It was outstanding. I had Maui Chicken and my wife had a Chicken dish ,also. Both were large portions and fantastic. When we are in the area we will definitely go back!“

“Sushi Town in Costa Mesa was such a nice surprise! It’s right by the I-55 freeway, kind of easy to miss, but totally worth finding. From the moment we walked in, the staff were super friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home.
We started with the yellowtail collar appetizer, which was amazing — perfectly grilled, crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Then we tried a few nigiri pieces like fatty tuna, negi toro, and fatty yellowtail, and wow — everything was so fresh and just melted in our mouths. The Edo Mae combo was also fantastic, a great mix of traditional and flavorful pieces that showed off the chef’s skills.
We finished it all off with some nice warm sake, which was the perfect way to end the meal.
Honestly, Sushi Town feels like a hidden gem right off the freeway. Great sushi, amazing service, and a cozy vibe — can’t wait to come back!“

“Yuzu Japanese Sushi Bar truly exceeded my expectations. Every dish was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh — you can tell they really care about quality and balance.

We ordered the 10 pcs Premium Sushi, which included bluefin tuna, toro, shima-aji, jumbo scallop, black snapper, halibut, yellowtail belly, king salmon, amberjack, and eel — every single piece was melt-in-your-mouth fresh. I also added uni sushi, and the uni was creamy, sweet, and super clean with no bitterness.

The Black Snapper Carpaccio was light and refreshing, with crispy garlic chips, gobo, and a subtle kick from the yuzu pepper that tied everything together perfectly.

One of my favorites was the White Fish Tempura — crispy on the outside, tender inside, with hotate scallops, jalapeños, fruits, citrus zest, and a sweet soy yuzu reduction that gave it such a unique flavor profile.

The Uni Hotate Yuzu was outstanding: Hokkaido scallop topped with seared uni, finished with spicy yuzu pepper and sea salt — rich, umami, and perfectly balanced.

For hot dishes, the Miso-Glazed Chilean Sea Bass was buttery and flaky, paired beautifully with sautéed bok choy and caramelized onions. The Wagyu Katsu Sando was another highlight — crispy, juicy wagyu beef with cabbage slaw and housemade Japanese BBQ sauce on soft milk bread. So satisfying.

We also tried the Grilled Chicken Teriyaki, which was tender and flavorful with a nice caramelized finish, served with broccolini.

The Truffle Essence Roll was indulgent but not overwhelming — deep-fried salmon and asparagus, topped with snow crab, fried onions, truffle butter sauce, miso mayo, and sweet soy reduction.

Cocktails were just as impressive. The Yuzu Drop was refreshing and citrusy, and Pretty in Pink was light, fruity, and super Instagram-worthy.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, and attentive service. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to.“
