“I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Cognoscenti Coffee on our interview date. Modern meets comfort with a hint of retro inside (and outside) Culver City’s Cognoscenti Coffee. Don’t let its small exterior fool you, because once you step inside you will be welcomed by a slew of cute bistro tables, industrial benches, and colorful chairs. But wait, there’s more! Veer to the right and catch a breath of fresh air in their somewhat secluded patio area. Whether you’re meeting with your bestie or having a writer’s meeting, you will easily be able to find a space to fit however many people in your party. Now let’s get to the good stuff! Cognoscenti’s beverage menu is comprised of the classics along with fun seasonal recipes in the mix. My drink of choice, the surprisingly refreshing Turmeric Latte. I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into, but I’m very glad that my day to be adventurous was an enjoyable one with its perfect ratio of milk to spice. Hungry? Check out their selection of huge (and I mean huge) pastries to fill you up for breakfast or to hold you over until your group dinner in one of the Downtown Culver restaurants.“

“This is a charming small restaurant with a very unique eclectic menu. My partner and I ordered 4 small plates to share and a glass of wine each and it was plenty of food for two. Some items worked better than others. I loved the mussels on toast and we both loved the watermelon salad, delicious! The potato donut items was a little rich for me, and I;m not a fan of octopus but my partner liked it very much. In general I would probably like some of these dishes with a little less seasoning and layering of flavors but that's me. The wine list is short but interesting choices that we liked very much. I would return to try some other items!“

“I’ve tried every viral breakfast burrito spot in LA, and nothing has come close to Cofax. Everything tastes so fresh, the flavors are incredible, and it’s seriously one of the most underrated breakfast spots in the city. It deserves way more hype. I highly recommend it!“

“If you’re looking fast service this is not the place for you. Now if you’re looking for good coffee, this is the spot.First time here. I typically go where i can get a quick coffee and go go go. This is a small shop. I waited a few minutes longer than i normally would where i go but guess what? Once i had the first zip i knew this is my new spot. See you tomorrow morning.“

“This place is a gem! Absolutely delicious Yemeni cafe. We got the rose milk and saffron cakes to try and they were both DIVINE! It wasn't too sweet, it was perfect! To top it all off, the Yemeni cafe large carafe was spot-on to end a great encounter. The CS here was excellent, very friendly. Parking area is behind the complex near an auto shop and there are only a few spots reserved for this establishment, so we ended up parking on the street.“

“Had my first date with my bf here about 1.5 years ago. Service & atmosphere were great and it was the only place that was quiet enough and had tables large enough for us to play the board game we wanted to play. That being said, the passionfruit boba was the worst one I’ve ever had lmao“

“So much more than a bookstore with a coffee shop. It's a perfect cafe to meet up, get a unique book, do a work session, or catch one of the many events - it's a place with people that make you feel part of the community. It's a very unique spot where everyone feels invited and welcome.“

“If you’re ever in downtown Culver City, you have to get this matcha. It is genuinely unlike anything I’ve ever tried before (never been to Japan to be fair). It is so rich and flavorful and extremely creamy, even with nondairy milk. Also, I love their boba too.“

“We had such a great time at this cute little spot. We loved the coffees and smoothies. Cameron did an amazing job putting together an iced cappuccino with frothed milk. Never had that before and really enjoyed that. They also have Chagacino and I love that they have tasty mushroom coffee. We are going back soon!“

“Wonderful coffees in a beautiful setting! The baristas were very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. The service was terrific. Amazing Mocha, but also loved the iced NOLA. There are so many coffee shops these days, but Blue Bottle in Culver City was exceptional !“

“I love this Starbucks crew. They’re always so kind, patient, friendly, and helpful — particularly Samiya, Bri, Maria, Eva, and Mark (Zack too, when he used to be around). I frequently go to Starbucks to work, and I never feel unwelcome. Never imagined I’d become a regular, but the staff and comfy atmosphere keeps me coming back. Pro-tip: There’s often no parking, so might as well park in one of the surrounding neighborhoods (watch out for signs, but most spots are in the clear).“

“Cool spot! It’s not just a coffee shop—it’s also a sneaker store, which makes it a really cool place to chill. They have a good selection of sneakers, so you can grab a coffee and browse around at the same time.

I ordered the Cinnamon Toast Swirl Latte and my bro got the Strawberry Shortcake Latte, and both were delicious. The flavors were on point with the perfect balance of sweetness and flavor. Neither one was overly sweet, which I really appreciated.

The baristas were awesome too—super friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Overall, it’s just a great vibe and a really unique spot.

Definitely recommend coming through! Grab a latte, check out the sneakers, and chill for a bit.“

“Young Hispanic guy that helped us was awesome! but his co-workers were a little loud and obnoxious yelling from behind the counter to other coworker in market about their personal life issues while the dude was making all drinks he even had to ask her to move out of his way while he's working and she was just yelling n doing nothing. So the 5 stars go to the young dude that was working today around 3pm. Thanks for my double iced shaken espresso with breve , sfvanilla and venti java chip It was perfect!“

“Be prepared, it's cash only.
The same gentleman is there everyday!! He is very good about keeping the water area clean. You do not touch any if the water faucets, only he does. He will take your bottles, he will clean them out with a high powered sprayer. Then he will fill your bottles. He has carts to borrow to get your water out to your car if it's too heavy. He sells bottles and dispensers too.“

“I came in to try their coffee. The person who assisted me was very nice, friendly and honest. I came in right before closing, so it was empty. The menu looks great , wide variety of foods. Their lavender latte was amazing. Looking forward to going back and trying some of their food.“

“I absolutely loved the 20 week cooking series with chef Jess. I learned so much and enjoyed every moment of this class. Jess is a fantastic and extremely talented and knowledgeable teacher. I left this class feeling much more confident in my cooking skills and eager to keep practicing what I learned. I cannot recommend this class enough. 20 weeks sounds long but it flew by.“
