“One of my favorite restaurants ever. The meat was seasoned so expertly and was so tender. Mussel toast was INCREDIBLE. Their sourdough was out of this world. Staff was knowledgeable and guided us in trying many interesting wines. This place was amazing!“
“Love this treasure in the heart of Mar Vista.“

“Came here to try the pastrami burrito and it was amazing! This had tater tots as the potato and it had a fried egg, cheese,
pickled jalapeños & deli mustard.
The sauce that comes with it also goes very well with it. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try their coffee but I would come back again just to try it and another burrito style.
The staff was very nice and the decor was neat. There is seating inside and outside. Parking is mostly metered.“
“Nice coffee shop in Culver City with a nice and cozy vibe. Artsy and vibrant they propose both pastries and coffees/teas, in short anything you need to wake up in the morning or to grab a late afternoon cup of joe.
With its bohemian vibe and decoration it’s definitely a trendy but not pretentious place to stop by
Kid-friendliness: Your kids will love their pastries“

“I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Cognoscenti Coffee on our interview date. Modern meets comfort with a hint of retro inside (and outside) Culver City’s Cognoscenti Coffee. Don’t let its small exterior fool you, because once you step inside you will be welcomed by a slew of cute bistro tables, industrial benches, and colorful chairs. But wait, there’s more! Veer to the right and catch a breath of fresh air in their somewhat secluded patio area. Whether you’re meeting with your bestie or having a writer’s meeting, you will easily be able to find a space to fit however many people in your party. Now let’s get to the good stuff! Cognoscenti’s beverage menu is comprised of the classics along with fun seasonal recipes in the mix. My drink of choice, the surprisingly refreshing Turmeric Latte. I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into, but I’m very glad that my day to be adventurous was an enjoyable one with its perfect ratio of milk to spice. Hungry? Check out their selection of huge (and I mean huge) pastries to fill you up for breakfast or to hold you over until your group dinner in one of the Downtown Culver restaurants.“

“Wonderful experience last night at Akasha. We got humnus. It came with veggies which I’ve never tried before but surprisingly it was delicious.
We also got the wings, pizza and Wagyu burger. And for desert we got the vegan brownie with ice cream. I did try the steak but the cut wasn’t my preferred type.
But I give them 5 stars because the customer service when I didn’t like the cut was top notch.
Our server was kind, gracious and attentive.
The hostesses were courteous and personable. Definitely recommend.“

“Very small shop, but excellent products inside!
I enjoyed the mango smoothie, and my friends got more classic choices like matcha, oolong, and brown sugar milk tea.
Everything was very tasty! Priced accordingly for the Culver City foot traffic that frequents it. They also sell high-grade tea separately!
Kid-friendliness: Very safe“

“I recently had the pleasure of attending the pro-series cooking course led by Chef Manifa and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I walked into the kitchen, Chef Manifa’s passion for food and dedication to teaching was evident. Her classes were not only highly informative but also immensely enjoyable.
Chef Manifa masterfully blended professionalism with warmth, creating an environment that was both educational and inviting. Her deep knowledge of culinary techniques, combined with her clear and patient teaching style, ensured that everyone in the class (from beginners to seasoned cooks) could follow along and improve their skills.
What truly set this cooking course apart was Chef Manifa’s ability to make complex techniques accessible to everyone. She broke down each step with precision, offering invaluable tips and tricks that only a seasoned expert could provide. Whether it was perfecting a delicate sauce or mastering the art of knife skills, Chef Manifa made each lesson engaging and achievable.
Moreover, Chef Manifa's enthusiasm was infectious. Her storytelling and anecdotes from her culinary journey, and genuine interest in each participant's progress made the class feel personal and enriching. The hands-on approach meant we could immediately apply what we learned, and Chef Manifa was always on hand to offer guidance and encouragement.
The highlight of each class was, of course, the food (lol)!! Under Chef Manifa’s expert instruction, week after week, we created dishes that were not only delicious but beautifully presented. The emphasis on using fresh, high-quality ingredients and understanding the science behind cooking techniques truly elevated the experience.
Chef Manifa delivered an outstanding cooking course that exceeded all my expectations. Her expertise, charisma, and passion for the culinary arts made for an unforgettable experience. I left the course not only with new skills and recipes but with a renewed inspiration for cooking.
I wholeheartedly recommend Chef Manifa's classes to anyone looking to enhance their culinary repertoire while having an incredible time!!!
Thank you so much, Chef Manifa you are the best!!!“

“I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Bar Nine on our interview date. Hidden in Culver City's Hayden Tract lies the modern, industrial Bar Nine. Housed inside a hulking warehouse, you would never think that the space was an ex-food truck commissary kitchen from it's sleek yet slightly rustic decor and an impressive, state-of-the-art Modbar espresso system to brew all of your caffeinated desires. Ample, organized seating inside is perfect for those who enjoy working with the scent of fresh brewed coffee kissing their nostrils while the front patio area is great for larger groups or to just soak up some rays. Bar Nine's menu of classic brews and decently sized pastries paired with seasonal specials gives visitors a chance to opt for something new. I myself chose to go with their featured in house specials called the Matitui, a Colombian blend infused with sweet brown sugar, crisp green apples and a hint of fresh floral, with hazelnut milk. Good God did it hit the spot! Sometimes there's nothing better in life than fresh brewed coffee poured into a reusable glass mason jar.“

“One of my favorite cafes! They only have pour-over coffees which is my favorite type of coffee anyway. I think Philz hiring practices are on-point, because the servers are always upbeat, friendly, and open for a chat! Once you get coffee here, it’s so nice to be able to go outside on the Culver steps and just haaang and enjoy the sunny So Cal weather. And once the coffee poop time invariably arrives, you can just come back into Philz and use their bathroom.“

“We visited Culver City and tried MillCross Coffee Bar & Kitchen for breakfast. We loved everything we had there! All the food tasted fresh and yummy. All the drinks were great, too. The staff was very nice and friendly. The decorations were very cool also. We definitely go back there again when we visit the area.“
“Young Hispanic guy that helped us was awesome! but his co-workers were a little loud and obnoxious yelling from behind the counter to other coworker in market about their personal life issues while the dude was making all drinks he even had to ask her to move out of his way while he's working and she was just yelling n doing nothing. So the 5 stars go to the young dude that was working today around 3pm. Thanks for my double iced shaken espresso with breve , sfvanilla and venti java chip It was perfect!“

“Across from the Sony studio and next to the Metro bus stop. If this Starbucks don't make money then the world's coming to an end. Good thing about a busy shop like this is the coffee will always be fresh and super hot. They have a very small sitting area, get in and get out is the vibe.“
“Absolutely amazing!! I can’t begin to thank the owner for his generosity and help. We have a campervan and have had a tremendously hard time finding a place to fill. It’s been nearly impossible. We stopped by without much hope and he went above and beyond finding a way to make it work. He spent 20 minutes looking for adapters and we were successfully able to fill our tank, with fresh great drinking water no less. Highly highly recommend“

“I have to give a 3 to 4 star rating to this store. I lost a shopping checklist pad with some important information on the first page. Realizing this was missing and where I had pulled it out, I retraced my steps and it was gone. Workers in this i area barely acknowledged me when I asked about it. Shopping in the store to me means not to bring anything there that could be sorely lost. Customer service is very good, but only as good for lost items as the employees who turn items back into them for this type of
situation.“

“Wife and I were out walking and saw this place. It was breakfast time so in we went.
A small place but with high airy ceilings that make it seem big and bright. Chairs are comfortable, too.
Wife started with house coffee and I had café de olla. The small cup in the pic is mine. Wife was happy with her coffee and I found mine intriguing. Sweet with a hint of cinnamon. Recommended.
The wife ordered the American breakfast. Comes with 3 eggs, bacon, potatoes and bread. She was very happy with her choice. It was a lot of food.
I ordered the jalapeño omelet. I usually take French Toast as my reference dish but the jalapeño pulled me in. It was a big omelet with peppers, onions, sausage and bacon; the potatoes and bread. The taste was just spicy enough. A nice sensation.
The place was half full when we arrived at about 10 am. More and more customers kept coming. When we left it was almost completely full.
Experience was very pleasant, staff was competent and price was appropriate, although the dinosaur in me thinks it should have been half or so.
We will be back. I still have to try the French Toast!
Kid-friendliness: High chairs and friendly staff
Wheelchair accessibility: Looked like doors were wide enough, no stairs, outside seating.“

“Been to this location many times, love the atmosphere here. Always friendly service, lots of parking outside which is rare in such a busy area, so much to walk to that’s near by as well, shopping and food. Will definitely return, and highly recommend, very clean, indoor and outdoor seating. Absolutely love the staff at this location, and also if you’re ever looking for rare cups, I can almost always find them here. I’ve also st inside and outside before“

“Love the vibe here I often get Uji matcha here. I think drink itself is good. But for matcha, sometimes it comes out with no clumps sometimes it has lots of clumps (different barista) so it’s kinda random lol. I also tried Lox bagel which came out as just what I expected nothing special though (took about 10-15 to get it)“
