“Excellent baguettes. We tried the full-size omelette sandwich - a generously portioned, perfectly prepared soft French omelette in a crusty baguette. Superb. Almond and chocolate croissants were also very good.

It's counter service, right on the sidewalk of busy Melrose Ave. No seating other than a bench and a couple of stools to use while you wait for your freshly prepared order.

Parking can be a challenge. We snagged a street spot on Harvard. There's a park nearby with benches and shade if you want somewhere to eat your treats.“

“I found out about Awakening when searching for local cafés months ago before finally stepping in person. I had time to spare before a meetup nearby. Awakening has a lot of tempting choices and customizable options at reasonable prices. The staff were courteous and above and beyond.
One barista showed me a more expansive space to work, relax, or hangout in the back of the storefront. Outdoor seating is also available in front at Awakening, and I'll definitely come back.“

Food was tasty and portions very good in size. We got savory crepe - Crepe heaven special with egg, turkey and cheese. Very good balance of stuffing and crepe. The crepe itself is delicious. Not too dry or chewy. Sweet crepe was loaded with fruits, we’ve opted for condensed milk instead of Nutella. Two crepes to split between two people. We also got coffee and coffee was not bad. “While traveling in LA, I accidentally discovered a wonderful cafe. Despite the early morning rain, people were lining up outside. (Small space to wait inside)The menu featured several unique drinks not found in typical coffee shops, and they tasted incredible.

Learning that it was a Korean brand made me feel quite proud, and I was delighted to find out they also have a location in New York where I live. I purchased a bag of coffee beans, which came in beautifully designed packaging. I fully intend to visit the New York branch soon. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit.“

“I wasn't having the best day when I walked into Boba Sound in Koreatown. I was frustrated, irritated, and honestly just not in a great mood. The moment I walked in, however, I was welcomed by Kelly, whose smile was as bright as a cloudless morning sun.

Kelly was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave excellent recommendations. I ended up trying the honeydew smoothie with lychee jelly, and it was absolutely delicious—I highly recommend that combination.

What made this visit special wasn't just the drink. Within a couple of minutes of interacting with Kelly, my entire attitude and outlook had changed. Her kindness, charisma, and genuine thoughtfulness made me feel seen and appreciated. She seemed to sense I wasn't having the best day and went out of her way to make the experience better. She even gave me the little bit of smoothie that was left in the blender, which was such a simple but thoughtful gesture.

Great customer service can completely change someone's day, and that's exactly what happened here. I'll definitely be coming back—not just for the amazing smoothies, but for the outstanding service and welcoming atmosphere.

The crispy rice salad starts things off. Each ingredient earns its place with a honey miso dressing that threads it all together. The pizzas are outstanding. They absolutely deserve the spotlight. Thin crust perfection. Crisp edges, restrained cheese, balanced tomato sauce, exactly enough char underneath. Both the classic and pepperoni pies feel disciplined, making it dangerously easy to finish more slices than intended. For the pasta, the rigatoni bolognese brings al dente cooked pasta coated in a layered, rich meat sauce. The ratio of meat to pasta is spot on, making every bite feel substantial without becoming overly dense. Hearty but never excessive. Dessert arrives as a strawberry ricotta cheesecake that somehow feels light. Creamy ricotta filling, fresh strawberries, strawberry sauce. Not too sweet, not too rich.

Companion gets the details right. The room, the music, the pacing, the service, the food. It’s all welcoming and deeply enjoyable.“

The lavender latte and strawberry matcha are unforgettable. And my big recommendation is a mushroom and salmon pancakes! They are fantastic. Mushroom ones my favorite❤

The coffee is basically free if you think of your donation as more of a rental fee to be in this lovely communal space and have access to all that it offers. This place is ideal for making plans with business partners, writing scripts with friends, or just getting together for some time away from screens and computers.
