“This Ohana Hawaiian BBQ location felt dirty and dilapidated. There's a weird outdoors picnic table inside the restaurant. Food crumbs and trash are on the tables. The girl taking orders spoke with barely audible words. Probably not the best person for that job. My meals were fried fish $11.25 and bbq katsu mix $12.25. Both tasted OK.“

“Our regular L&L. When we are too lazy to cook, we would ordered the following: mini Bbq chicken or a mini chicken Katsu or mini garlic Basa( yummy) or Spam musubi. These are our favorite. You can’t go wrong with these items. I also order party trays for potluck Christmas luncheon.“

“Don’t come for the ambience but do come for Canto comfort Chinese food. This is as local as it can be. The whole ambience is a reminder to those greasy, savory, comforting food I grew up enjoying. The best items are the bbq items in combo with a wonton noodle soup, finished with a plate of stir fried vegetables or the “ho fun” or broad rice noodles with shrimp and egg sauce. I enjoy browsing the menu but most of the time I end ordering the same dishes.
If I were to have a last meal, my usual from Mr Fong would be it.
As I tell my family: “Mr. Fong can’t go wrong.”“

“On election night (November 4 ) the Pelosi volunteer party was held here. Since I was way early I decided to order dinner. The owner was very helpful in showing me how to use the computerized ordering system I jokingly told him that now that I knew the system i would have to come back before I forgot. I didn't know at the time that I would discover a sandwich which was truly worth coming back for. I love bacon. I love shrimp. Either one would earn a favorable review from me. However to combine them both and add avocado, lettuce and tomato was just beyond delicious. I now have a new addiction!! The CHIPTOLE JUMBO SHRIMP BLT! The jumbo refers to both the size of the shrimp and the sandwich! Friday, November 7, I found myself again n the Castro for a morning appointment. I was pleased to see that they opened at 11 am. I ordered another CHIPTOLE JUMBO SHRIMP BLT and discovered the second time it was as good as the first time!!“

“5/5 SO SO YUMMYYY!!! This hit the spot 😍😩 We actually came here after another meal that we weren’t satisfied with. The best were 1. Chicken skewers and 2. Taiwanese sausage skewers. The seaweed salad was also excellent. Next time we’ll come for a proper meal and get some much more!“

“WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! Smokin D's BBQ far exceeded my expectations when providing super delicious Southern food for my brother's memorial! I would give them 5+ stars if I could! First, owners Daniel and Lareina met with me at the venue a few weeks in advance and carefully went over every detail of each dish that I wanted. Since I wasn't sure if our guests could eat spicy food, they took out the jalapeños from the mini cornbread muffins and any spice from the other dishes I wanted. When I talked about wanting a sweeter coleslaw, Daniel asked if I wanted KFC-style coleslaw, which was exactly what I was looking for. Second, on the day of the memorial, Daniel and Lareina arrived on time with all of the hot and cold food ready to go. All I had to do was show them where to place the trays. Third, after our guests left, Daniel and Lareina were very quick to pick up all of their equipment, which meant that I could go home earlier than expected. Most importantly, all of our guests absolutely RAVED about all of the food, especially about the smoked pulled pork and cornbread muffins!!! In fact, many sent me texts later saying that the food was a "huge hit" and asking me for the company's name, which I was pleased to provide. If any friend wants catered BBQ for their parties, I will recommend Smokin D's BBQ in SF in a heartbeat! SIMPLY AWESOME!!!“

“So good! We walked in on a Friday night last night. We were very impressed by our server who was doing it all by himself while still being super nice and never losing his cool and remaining professional and collected. What a pro! We tipped him super well because he deserved it and the food was absolutely amazing. The food was so delicious I couldn’t bother taking a photo except for the one of our veggies. We got the cabbage and green onions, lamb skewers which were our favorite, beef, sausage. Highly recommend the lamb and green onions. We’re definitely coming back!“

“If I could give more than 5 stars I would. My boss used to bring me lunch from this place A LOT. And I would always devour the entire plate. And anytime he called and asked if I wanted a plate I would happy dance and try not to scream yes. Seriously the BEST BBQ place I have EVER tried. And my little southern meant to be born heart has tried most of them. I want so badly to take my family here (live in the East Bay)“

“★★ An Unforgettable Culinary Adventure!
I'm not exaggerating when I say my taste buds are still celebrating! I finally got to try Brew's Barbecue, and it was an absolutely insane, mind-blowingly delicious experience.
From the first bite, I knew this
wasn't just ordinary BBQ. The meat was phenomenally tender, practically melting in my mouth, and packed with an incredible, smoky flavor that had been perfected over hours. The sauc were the perfect complement each one unique and bursting with flavor, from the tangy and sweet to the rich and spicy.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and the smell alone is enough to make your mouth water from a block away. But the real star is, without a doubt, the food. It's clear that a ton of passion and skill goes into every single plate.
This isn't just a meal; it's an event. I am already planning my next visit and will be dragging all my friends with me. You owe it to yourself to try Brew's Barbecue at least once -but consider yourself warned, you'll be dreaming about it and planning your return before you've even finished your plate!
Do yourself a favor and GO.You can thank me later!

“I started eating immediately because I couldn’t wait! The pictures show the food missing a few bites! Haha! Delicious! The sautéed spicy pork belly was rich and perfect with rice. The cold noodles chewy and tasty. Old school decor felt just right. Nothing flashy. The food spoke for itself. I think the server is also the proprietor. Friendly and asked if we needed to replenish our banchai. I will be back.“

“had a great experience here at the counter with a group of 6. not too busy, and they cooked the meats for you to perfection. i thought the meal was done well, would’ve preferred more seafood / seasoning, and definitely greasy so had to replenish the banchans a few times.“

“To me this is hands down the best kbbq + Korean restaurant in SF. I’ve tried wooden charcoal, brothers, muguboka, yakiniQ, I’ve tried them all nothing comes close to Han Il Kwan. The banchans are so fresh and taste so good. The Galbi is not too sweet not too fatty but fatty enough. Their cold noodle with beef is spectacular. Just everything about Han Il Kwan is so consistent and so enjoyable. It’s my repeat spot - the only reason I’d go somewhere else is because it’s closed Tuesday / Wednesday.“

“I visited Mashita Galbi Jjim on a Sunday evening around 6 PM with a party of four, and to my surprise, there was no wait—we were seated right away. With only two staff members working the floor, the restaurant still managed a steady rhythm of service. The space itself is inviting, with a high ceiling that makes it feel airy, a clean bathroom (always a plus), and a generally cozy environment that sets the stage for a comfortable meal.
For food, we ordered two dishes: the pork tonkatsu and their signature galbi jjim. The tonkatsu arrived quickly, golden and crispy, delivering the kind of satisfying crunch and savory bite you’d expect from a well-executed cutlet. The galbi jjim, however, was a different story. It took about 30 minutes to reach our table, which seems to be the norm based on observing other tables. While the wait did build anticipation, it also disrupted the pacing of the meal. When it did arrive, the flavors were solid—rich, hearty, and braised with care—but not quite at the level of depth or complexity I’ve had elsewhere. Personally, I still prefer Daeho’s version, which leans more memorable in both flavor and overall experience.
Service was professional and efficient given the limited staff, though not particularly warm or engaging. It felt more functional than personal, but everything we needed was taken care of without issue.
In terms of ambiance, Mashita balances casual comfort with a slightly polished feel, making it a nice spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family.
Value-wise, the restaurant is fairly priced for the quality and portion sizes. While the food is solid and the dining experience smooth overall, I didn’t find it compelling enough to make this my go-to spot for galbi jjim.
Final verdict: 4/5. A reliable option with cozy ambiance and decent execution, but not quite distinctive enough to stand out in a city with strong competition.“
“On days when being in the kitchen is a chore; Clement BBQ is a life safer. For a rice box with your choice of white, fried rice, or various fried noodle types, you get to choose two entrees from the cooked foods. All for $9.50. there might be an additional dollar or two for the occasional more expensive fare. It feeds two people easily. Great deal. Two meals and done. No leftovers.“

“Really good Chinese BBQ place. All of the bread items we tried were flaky and tasty, highly recommend the brown sugar one. The skewers were all solid, and I appreciated that the beef had a more teriyaki-style flavor, because too much cumin starts to get a bit sameish. In that regard, you should consider getting an order of the lettuce leaves to use as a wrap for the skewers, it's a great palette cleanser and adds some nice texture.
Would love to go again, but it's a bit far from my house and Chinese BBQ isn't something you can do too frequently.“

“Saw this place in Instagram and pinned it to my list to go to in Chinatown.
The menu is extensive and has a little bit for everyone’s craving for the day. You know it’s a good sign when you walk in and you hear the uncs and aunties yappin. It just means this place is authentic !
The Satay Beef Noodle soup was great. It has a spice in it I can’t pinpoint, but it made it unique to any other beef noodle soup I’ve had. I was expecting a taste closer to bun bo hue, but no it’s something different. Still very tasty! The cucumbers innit was a surprise and it worked very well.
The chicken wings came out piping hot and crunchy. The chicken itself didn’t have much flavor tho.
The chow fun is something I’d order again. The beef was cooked with a Smokiness flavor to it.
This spot accepts card for payment, so I am happy that I didn’t have to pull money at an ATM. The staff is very friendly and can give recommendations“

“I had dinner with my family at Chef Xiong Kitchen yesterday and we ordered several dishes: green peppercorn stewed fish, stir-fried potatoes, pig feet and chicken skewers, cold spicy noodles, beef noodle soup, and stir-fried green beans. Everything was absolutely delicious, especially the cold spicy noodles, which were a standout.
The portion sizes were very generous and offered great value for the price. Each dish was packed with flavor and had its own unique flair. The service was impeccable; the staff were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed to fully enjoy our meal.
I’ll definitely be coming back, whether for dine-in or takeout! I will also be telling friends and family to try this place out!“

“Love this local Korean spot close by to me. Very consistent in the food quality. Pretty spacious and does not get too loud.
I love to order the yukgaejang when I come here. The stew has glass noodles and also comes with bowl of signature purple rice. So delicious and a great deal. And of course there are fresh tasting banchan. I’ve asked for banchan refills before and the staff is friendly and will provide it free of charge. I always leave happy and full. I haven’t tried a lot of the other menu items so cannot provide input on that. Next time I should try the samgyetang.“
