“I came to the cafe for the first time in the 30+ years I lived near thr LA/OC county line. The place is very quaint. I was with a group of senior citizens from our churches monthly men’s breakfast meeting. Service is excellent, food great and coffee really good. We will be back next month.

The original Jolly Jug was in South El Monte in the 1930s and people came from all around to eat their famous Pastrami’s and Beef Dip sandwiches. “First time here, it’s popular and packed. So parking might be a challenge, the parking lot on sight is a bit condensed, we lucked out getting a parking space, but had to back in to the parking spot due to limited space. It seems, if you have a larger party, it may be a wait to be seated. Since there was only two of us, we were seated right away. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Seating area was a little tight, but they have fans circulating the air, so it made it tolerable. High energy music playing, but not overwhelming, nice background music-
From observation, presentation of the plates and showmanship was top notch. Portions of food were adequate. And quality of food was above average . There were flights of coffee and margaritas from what I observed. French toast and pancakes looked very appetizing and festive ( I’ll be trying them on a future visit). Overall a good experience and I have plans on returning to try other dishes. For this visit, we had the chilaquiles and the eggs divorciados. The chilaquiles were flavorful and filling, with plenty on the plate. The divorciados ,served with half a baked (menu stated baked potato but didn’t specify whole or half),had a great presentation and were good and flavorful- however being that I have a larger appetite than most, I could have used a little more on my plate. But overall a good experience and, I’m planning on future visits.“

“I LOVE their ordering and pay feature. You scan a barcode and open a tab. You can order and pay right from your phone. We were a large group-10 people so the great part was not having to figure out whose card we were going to use, zelleing all over gods green earth, who had what, etc. The only drawback is that we were all talking and some people ordered later than others so our food didn’t come out together but that was more on us. The breakfast food was beautifully plated and so good. I had the red velvet waffles, potatoes, cup of fruit and ABC juice (apple, beet, carrot) I shared everything and was still full. My bill was $41 with tip. The service was very friendly. They were able to accommodate our large group but I’m not sure I would recommend a large group because it’s a small restaurant. The parking was okay on Saturday morning. It’s free but that little street gets busy. I didn’t use the restroom so I don’t have comments about that. They are only open for breakfast then close at 11am and reopen later for Indian fusion food. I looked at a menu - and could smell the food. It smelled delicious. Will definitely be going back.“

“This place is an old school Korean restaurant but the food is excellent. As someone who recently moved from Koreatown LA to a gateway city, I had to find my go to Korean restaurant and I think this is one of my favorite places. We like to get the Uhndaegoo jorim (braised black cod). Some of our other favorites are the dahk gae jang, as well as the bohtsahm. The atmosphere is very modest and simple, but this is the kind of place that suits me.

I highly recommend this place both for Korean traditionalists as well as non-Koreans who just want some really good quality Korean food.“

“Had a tasty experience at No Toro Cafe this morning! Brought my family to enjoy some great food! We had the Banana Nutella pancakes, Chocolate Chip and Banana French toast, the Sniper Scramble, and more! We definitely will be coming back for breakfast! “My company used Crossroads for a very long project that required catering every weekday for over three weeks. Helen was quick on delivery, she was willing to work with us to add variation to the lunches and her prices could not be beat. The employees we were training highly complimented all the food. I've read a lot of stuff about this place having a rude owner, but the man who helped today was everything but rude.

I came to the door not realizing it was order to go only, but he was kind enough to walk me through his menu process (QR code) and even walked the food over to my car. The next parking lot over. The owners name is David, and he informed Naka's broiler has been serving the Compton area for 66 years! This establishment is a local treasure and Should be treated as such.

“The cafeteria is a standard food hall with lots of seating and tables.

The main reason I go here is because of their Cali Cob salad is phenomenal. As a person that has tried lots of high end salads at other establishments, this salad is one of the best cobs I’ve ever had.

Almost as great as Joey’s in DTLA. The vegetables are very fresh, the dressing is excellent. I love that it has a lot of chicken pieces that are delicious and egg along with bacon pieces. It’s a solid salad for the price and one of my favorite salads of all time. I highly recommend it.

I will definitely come back to eat that salad & I’ll continue to try their other menu items.“

A five minute walk from the court houses with good food at reasonable prices. Plus, there's a lovely patio with tables to enjoy your meal in peace (other than the Cathedral chimes on the hour). It's run by the Patina group so, although the food isn't fancy, the quality is very good.“
