“This is a family run place with outdoor seating. The food is quick, fresh and tasty. Women members of the family are nicer than the men, who can be clueless and unhelpful. Sometimes the meat is recooked in the crispy tacos which are otherwise my favorite. The flautas are also fresh and good as are the refried pinto beans.I like this casual place a lot—you can buy Russian River Brew next door at Raymnond’s excellent pizza place and sit in the sun with the locals.“

Al principio ellos ponen chips crujientes frescos y salsa en tu mesa y tienen una barra de diferentes salsas las cuales puedes disfrutar con tus chips, el ambiente te hace sentir como en casa ellos son muy amables y al final te llevan unos ricos churros con crema de cortesía. “We had the tamales—chicken, pork, cheese and the sweet corn one. All of them tasted great and were pretty generously sized. The red and green salsas were all obviously hand made with some love. I also noticed that the masa used had a pleasantly light, moist quality to it—it wasn’t dense and dry. You just gotta respect the hell out of a place that can serve up a hearty, nutritious packet of goodness like this for around $3.“

“I ordered the chilaquiles rojos with steak...they were excellent!
The sauce was not overwhelming with spice or hot, which gave me room to add just enough to make it perfectly right to how I like it. The tortillas had fresh taste and they were still crispy, even though the chilaquiles had plenty of sauce. The steak was good quality beef also.

Overall, the best chilaquiles I've had in a very long time. I will definitely come back again and based on this meal...I highly recommend it!

“I've been coming to Talavera Cocina Mexicana in Berkeley more times than I can count, and I can say with confidence they make the best mole in the Bay Area. The mole poblano is rich and dark with layers of chile, spice, and chocolate that taste like it's been simmering all day. If you want something with a little more kick, the mole guajillo is just as good, with a deep, nutty flavor from the pumpkin seeds. Get it with chicken or pork and you really can't go wrong.

The mole isn't the only reason I keep coming back, though. This is authentic Mexican food made with real care. The tortilla soup is perfect on a cool Berkeley evening, the tamales are moist and full of flavor, and the burritos are generous enough to share (though I never do). If you're a mole fan like me, try it in a burrito. It's a game changer.

“The food and service are really good im a local and me and my family come here a lot whenever we arw hungry. I love the nacho fries because they make them with nacho cheese instead of shredded cheddar. Also ive had breakfast burritos at multiple places in the area and the ones here blow any of those out of the water, the regular burritos are good too. All the food taste fresh and cooked with care not assembled quick and sloppy, the whole menu is solid and i plan to keep coming in the future.“

“We have felt lucky to live within walking distance of Casa Latina. Tonight I put in a phone order, as I have many times and the order was taken carelessly and messed up (Baja fish taco, not fish taco), so when I got home, I had to drive back up and have the meal remade, and then it was just not good. Tortillas were weirdly dry and the fish was overcooked (like, fried to the color of coffee grounds). A great neighborhood place on Fridays, will probably skip it on Mondays.“

“Possibly the best burrito I've ever had. I have eaten thousands of burritos and have a few favorite spots so I'm biased to my favorite spots and ready to be dissapointed when I try new ones. This burrito was perfection. It was huge and flavorful. The ratio of all the ingredients was perfect. Every ingredient from the tortilla, to the cheese, to the meat, to the rice was delicious and shined on its own.
